That symbol shown in the cave is not hieroglyphics. It's actually the leviathans cross. It has roots in alchemy and represents sulfur. It is used to warn of evil or demons.
A big thing that I noticed was that many people think that a rock landed on his head when he was in the secret room. But in reality he got scared from the noise, jumped, hit his head. And severely hurt his head causing spine damage and nerve damage which resulted in insane pain. A large reason why he had difficulty running/escaping.
Yeah in original creepypasta, it says that the helmet protected his head but his neck was "nearly numb from the impact" and it also mentions severe back pain. So his spine took the impact. Though in the video he keeps saying "Oh my head," so I guess they either forgot or changed it.
As someone who’s caved before, I completely understand why he would take a moment to turn of the light and just sit there. It’s such a strange but amazing feeling- Completely dark, cold, and quiet. It’s the closest I’ll ever get to floating in space, and I wish it was easier to experience. If you can, I 100% recommend going on a cave tour and asking if they do a lights out section. You wont regret it, and even if you do at the moment, it’s a first experience you can never replace
Recently got to do a tour of the Cumberland Caverns. I can second this. It's just so surreal and off-putting, but also strangely comforting. It's pretty much the darkest possible dark you can ever experience. Over a short while your brain adjusts and you can very vaguely make out yoYu hand if you move it.
Im terrified of the dark, however at cumberland caverns im pretty sure it was? They had a lights-out section and all i felt was wonder. There was some fear of course, bur i didnt feel like i normally did. There was a calm in the quiet and the dark that ive never felt before or since. Id do it again too, just waiting for a chance to go on some more cave tours!
So I just had this thought, about 11 or so minutes in, as Marcus described “Ted and B” and my first thought was “Dude…it’s Bill and Ted’s excellent cave dive!”
I think the cave they break into, at least based on the video interpretation, is the underworld. As at the end of "Going Back" Ted says something about the afterlife is a cave, to quote exactly "If I am ever to leave the world and enter the cave. I must now return." They entered the underworld, something mortals aren't supposed to do plus spilling blood there, and got marked for death. It calls them back to the cave as they need to die now. It's sad but must happen. B didn't actually enter the underworld just the entrance which is why while he's still a bit messed up generally okay.
Yeah whenevwr a creepypasta has stairs going down I just think oh that's a stairway to hell the stairs could never come up again and I would still think they are a stairway to hell
That does make a lot of sense, specially because when Ted comes back from the hole, B says: "welcome back to the world of the living" which could be taken literally.
Meanwhile, there's a parallel story of two mole people who keep hearing scratching in the cave behind the door rock, and they have to defend it against these weird alien people

Johnny Cash was actually an amateur spelunker in addition to all of the other things he's known for, and during a dark time in his life he went into an unexplored cave system in Tennessee (not intending to come out). After his light died according to him he heard God tell him not to give up and in pitch blackness he found his way back to the entrance where his family had been searching and obviously made his faith stronger. Just a cool Johnny Cash fact involving caves with a happy ending in case anyone needs it lol

There's absolutely no reason why an all-loving god would help a random caver, rather than babies/children, unless you do all sorts of mental gymnastics, like trying to convince yourself that, somehow, all of these babies and children would grow up to be horrible people that would only make the world worse, since god is all-knowing, so he has foreknowledge of people's future. But then that notion that he's got infinite precognition opens up a whole can of worms, such as the question of free will as, for god to be all-knowing in that sense, the future would have to be absolute, meaning we'd be bound by what's pre-destined to happen, meaning free will ain't really a thing. Amongst other things you could question from this infinite precognition thing in relation to god. So now you've gotta lower the bar and make god seem less impressive, by reducing his omniscience to just the present, which then nullifies your rationalization that the babies and children would grow up to be terrible people that make the world worse, thus god made them die early. I could go on, really. 1:45:28 When listening with headphones, you hear the rock move in your left ear, Ted gets startled by this, and quickly turns, when Ted Turns you can hear the rock enter both ears to match what Ted heard. They really put their hearts into this. Because that is an amazing detail.
I haven't seen anyone comment on this yet but Marcus' dad being heard saying "Goodnight son" and him replying "Goodnight dad" is just so wholesome and cute, truly warmed my heart. It's always nice to see the people we look up to and immortalize, no pun there, acting so human and reminding us that they are people too. I wasn't subscribed before but I definitely am now.
I love the cliff hanger ending so much, in both the creepy pasta and the videos, because there are so many unanswered questions, what is the creature?, what did Joe see? What happened after they went back? We get nothing, and its genius
My theoretical answers to those three questions: - Joe saw the creature (maybe it had some influence on him like It did to lure them all back down) - The creature is some demon/something supernatural (apparently it was also worshiped as the hieroglyph showed) - Ted, B and Joe died after making their return (the creature was hostile so it’s a guarantee that it would kill them)

I just gotta say that this actually got my heart pumping because the fact that it looks so realistic and the thought of getting Stuck in a cave in general is more scary than every horror movie, because you can tell horror movies like it are fake because it’s doesn’t seem realistic, but doing like the whole hidden footage thing is just freaky, like if I didn’t know this was all fake, I probably would’ve believed it
I went cave exploring for the first time in a small formation in my country. The guide was cool, and he told us how he used to make his first-time explorers watch The Descent the day before they went into the caves. Funny guy.
What I think makes Ted the Caver good is that it doesn’t show/tells us what the thing in Floyd’s Tomb is/what it looks like, making us think about what it is, which makes it a whole lot scarier
i really love it from the standpoint of it being better for the experience, but i kinda just have to describe what i think it looks like to myself since i physically can't picture things in my head. series like this really make me wish i could though

Genuinely that part was SO hard to listen to. It was such genuinely good acting my chest started getting tight and my body started to react like I was going into a panic attack.
Did spelunking as a middle schooler as a Girl Scout camp thing. An hour or so into our cave, our flashlight batteries started to die and our guide didn’t bother to tell us to bring extras or packed extras themselves. It became a race against time to find a way out before our batteries died and we were stuck in the dark. Ended up having to crawl through a gap about a foot/foot and a half wide through sulfurous smelling mud that we sunk in as we crawled. It was EXHILARATING!!!
Honestly my first thought when I heard the “scream” was that the entity was doing what I often do: doing a dramatic imitation of a noise. To me it followed the drilling noise and had a similar quality.
My interpretation is that B stayed on the side he usually does but Joe and Ted go through and Joe and Ted die to whatever is there and the camera was lost or destroyed by whatever is in there while B heard the screams and he narrowly escaped
@@Jaso-uk4he Sometimes you have the "chance" for the soundwaves to bounce and trace all the way back to the entrance, and sometimes you don't have that much luck and the soundwaves hits bodies of water, moss or even just bounce back onto you and die down... Having made explosives went off inside caves that were tunneling deep and pretty much in every direction, making the soil unstable (to make them collapse and make the ground a bit more stable by filling hollow bodies) I can assure you that sometimes you don't hear them go off, you just feel the wind and see the dust come out... Scary shit, cave diving ain't my thing for the sole fact that sound sometimes don't make it to the surface...
Ted and B essentially turned into squealing piglets toward the end of entry 9, but it still encapsulated the sheer terror of a situation like that. Excellent coverage of this horror media gem 🎉

idk if its relevant but the heiroglyph had three ppl with two being on side looking at it and one on the other side which could probably point to ted and joe having seen the creature and b not having seen it at all
41:40 throughout this video, ted runs out of breath alot, now this obviously could be because of all the exercises hes doing, but i think that this cave has way less air circulation and air flow than outside, because it is way deeper in the ground, which is why ted runs out of breath so much. (EDIT: i know that theres air, but think about it, ted and the others are deep down where there is air, but there isnt alot, which means the deeper they go, the less air they get, causing shortness of breath, someone corrected me and i thank you for correcting my mistake!! ❤)

Each of the breezes are described as a rumbling, the rumbling stops after they start using their louder instruments to break open the entrance (waking the creature up), and the breeze always stopped with it. We can get another hint towards it when the rumbling stops and is instead replaced with a momentary scream. Then there's no breeze to be felt.
I remember (I think) if there's wind then it would mean that it's a cave opening towards outside. I'd say it was given from the start,cause why would there be any wind?
Air circulates throughout a cave. The air pressure on the surface is a lot higher than the low pressure air in the cave, so air circulates moving the low pressure stuff out and the high pressure stuff in. The wind they hear is the low pressure air circulating out
Subtitles in horror videos like these never fail to crack me up when there's a creepy noise happening and the subtitles are like "applause" or "music" or something
I usually put these videos in the corner of my screen to play a game while I listen but this series took my full attention and I couldn't multitask with how on edge I was with it. (great content! keep up the good work)
I feel like his friend during the drilling hearing the noises maybe as he was drilling he saw something on the other side that put him into a trance and got him shook 1:01:27 (I haven’t seen all of it yet)
The ambience of this one is something else. You can feel terror in the darkness and I was fully expecting something to grab onto Ted when the light was out as a call back to the beginning where he said "You can feel it before you see it." I think the best part though was the thing with the piglets, absolutely INSANE.
i love this guy’s acting. Everyone in this video is an amazing actor. I think they all deserve praise. When Ted was panicking in Floyd’s Tomb, it was like a piglet running from a slaughter. It was great.

At 35:06, when Marcus asked why someone would just turn the lights off in a cave, I’ve been in a cave once before and got to do this and I found that it was very peaceful and relaxing just sitting there in the darkness as did the other people there with me. Hopefully others that have done the same can agree

I think it’s supposed to be some ancient eldritch being that they awoken. That explains the hieroglyphs and the strange stairs that go deeper into the earth. Plus the story really feels like Lovecraftian horror

what i like with project with low budget, it’s that there’s some form of authenticity somehow? idk how to explain, but the fact that we can’t see anything on most scenes and that we can only rely on the sound we hear let’s our brain imagine the action by itself, which adds a lot to a stress factor in a lot of horror movie/series, i’ve studied in cinema and our teacher often said ‘imagination is way scarier then seeing the actual thing because of the uncertainty’ which is well executed in this one by a work of sound design and the great performance of the actors! tbh, those type of projects always gets me because it shows that sometimes you don’t need to make your projects super complicated for it to work, as long as you know how to portray it, it will do it’s job well and gets the idea across! (sorry for rambling about this lol, i just wanted to show how cool low budget projects can be when made well with a lot of care, which i’m sure is the case for this series)

I had something similar when Ted was like "Alright I'm going to climb in to Floyd's Crypt now" it thundered outside my apartment immediately, it was FLAWLESS timing.
"It couldn't a wendigo". Literally everything in the creepypasta describes a wendigo. The smell, living in a cave, large objects being moved, the bare footsteps, and of course the sounds. Due to the heavy decay on a "wendigo's" eyes it pretty much has to see through echolocation. Which is why they scream so much. Also the "wendigo" has an ability to sort of mentally torture people through the "uncanny valley effect". Which can be transmitted through sight, smell, and touch.
I just realized something: Floyd’s Tomb is a reference to a caver named Floyd Colin’s. He was exploring Sand Cave when he got stuck, and died over 200 hours later, in the cave, where is body remained on display until the 1960, (I think). Edit: goddamit

I went to find his channel as soon as he popped up on Wendigoons live a few months back. I think there was only 3-4 videos up at the time, so few subs and only a few more views. I watched them a was like ooooo cool someone turning such an iconic creepypasta into an analogue horror, super 👌. I subscribed right away and I think I've even left a comment on every video pretending that it's real 😅😂. Its awesome how well his channel has done and it awesome so many people have found it and really enjoy it, he's done a great job and I can't wait to see what he does next. I think the name if the channel has changed now, I think it was called Ted's Caving Adventure, but as he's planning on doing more it's got a new name. But I'm not 100% on that, I'm awful with names. Cool thing from earlier on in the video. Yes cavers always should have more than one light source, along with someone who knows where you will be. If all your light runs out then you are stuck and will have to feel your way out. That gets really tricky though in larger caves with multiple tunnels. It can also cause you to accidentally go deeper into the cave. So if anyone wants to go caving the main rules, always have someone know where you are, bring multiple lights, be safe and think things through, tred lightly, don't do things that is risky and will hurt you.

It took me two nights - nights I should've gotten better sleep, because I have work, lol - but I totally got to the end. Piglets, my dude - piglets. Thanks for showing off this one; this CreepyPasta is one that I return to a bunch since it is credited as THE FIRST, but I always forget it so it was cool to see it realized, rather effectively, in analog horror form. Never knew about this. This was a long one for you but it was worth the watch; props to you Marcus because it seems like something that's not easy to parse. Having to go back and rewatch things to understand them better and then explain them to US because they're hard to see what's going on; you're the man, dude!
My thoughts are: There was a chamber beyond that rock that was the creature's home or even its prison that maybe guarded a civilization, seeing that people in the past worshiped it and maybe was sealed off by other people that thought it was a malevolent being
I actually overnighted in a cave a few years back. It's a commercial thing so it's safe, so we set up camp and slept overnight, then explored the cave during the day. It was super fun I'd do it again.

My thoughts were that the cave was alive in some way at first? It doesn't make much sense when you really think about it, but with the way everything was playing out, I thought that's what it would be. I really like the way this makes you feel terror, rather than horror. That's something I really appreciate about things like this. It leaves you with that lingering sense of fear, and "what if?" and it's difficult to stop thinking about it. This is great.
Same man. Kid you not, that first thing Ted pointed the camera at within the actual cave part past where he squeezed through I immediately thought it was a uvula. The texture strengthened that thought as well.
Piglets! I remember reading the creepypasta so many years ago and, recently, a channel did an "study" on the original creepypasta. Watching this series while remembering details from the original material was mindblowing and the way they translated it to video was incredible and really well made and performed. Congrats to all of them and to Marcus for showing me this amazing interpretation of the creepypasta!

I think there are ghosts AND a creature. It would make a lot of sense. They probably drew on the walls and made staircases, they are either dead or still thriving underneath the ground. and they probably worship something ancient and powerful, that’s why they are down there in the first place. the big creature creaks and rumbles and maybe is the cave, crying in pain when they break its “bones” or skin. I mean caves have veins and arteries running through them, gaping mouths, maybe it’s something like the mystery flesh pit

A big thing that I noticed was that many people think that a rock landed on his head when he was in the secret room. But in reality he got scared from the noise, jumped, hit his head. And severely hurt his head causing spine damage and nerve damage which resulted in insane pain. A large reason why he had difficulty running/escaping.
Its also explained better in the actual creepy pasta. He describes it as severe white pain and mild daze.

Yeah in original creepypasta, it says that the helmet protected his head but his neck was "nearly numb from the impact" and it also mentions severe back pain. So his spine took the impact. Though in the video he keeps saying "Oh my head," so I guess they either forgot or changed it.

As someone who’s caved before, I completely understand why he would take a moment to turn of the light and just sit there. It’s such a strange but amazing feeling- Completely dark, cold, and quiet. It’s the closest I’ll ever get to floating in space, and I wish it was easier to experience. If you can, I 100% recommend going on a cave tour and asking if they do a lights out section. You wont regret it, and even if you do at the moment, it’s a first experience you can never replace
Recently got to do a tour of the Cumberland Caverns. I can second this. It's just so surreal and off-putting, but also strangely comforting. It's pretty much the darkest possible dark you can ever experience. Over a short while your brain adjusts and you can very vaguely make out yoYu hand if you move it.

There was some fear of course, bur i didnt feel like i normally did. There was a calm in the quiet and the dark that ive never felt before or since. Id do it again too, just waiting for a chance to go on some more cave tours!

I think the cave they break into, at least based on the video interpretation, is the underworld. As at the end of "Going Back" Ted says something about the afterlife is a cave, to quote exactly "If I am ever to leave the world and enter the cave. I must now return." They entered the underworld, something mortals aren't supposed to do plus spilling blood there, and got marked for death. It calls them back to the cave as they need to die now. It's sad but must happen. B didn't actually enter the underworld just the entrance which is why while he's still a bit messed up generally okay.

Johnny Cash was actually an amateur spelunker in addition to all of the other things he's known for, and during a dark time in his life he went into an unexplored cave system in Tennessee (not intending to come out). After his light died according to him he heard God tell him not to give up and in pitch blackness he found his way back to the entrance where his family had been searching and obviously made his faith stronger. Just a cool Johnny Cash fact involving caves with a happy ending in case anyone needs it lol

There's absolutely no reason why an all-loving god would help a random caver, rather than babies/children, unless you do all sorts of mental gymnastics, like trying to convince yourself that, somehow, all of these babies and children would grow up to be horrible people that would only make the world worse, since god is all-knowing, so he has foreknowledge of people's future. 1:45:28 When listening with headphones, you hear the rock move in your left ear, Ted gets startled by this, and quickly turns, when Ted Turns you can hear the rock enter both ears to match what Ted heard. They really put their hearts into this. Because that is an amazing detail.
I haven't seen anyone comment on this yet but Marcus' dad being heard saying "Goodnight son" and him replying "Goodnight dad" is just so wholesome and cute, truly warmed my heart. It's always nice to see the people we look up to and immortalize, no pun there, acting so human and reminding us that they are people too. I wasn't subscribed before but I definitely am now.

I love the cliff hanger ending so much, in both the creepy pasta and the videos, because there are so many unanswered questions, what is the creature?, what did Joe see? What happened after they went back? We get nothing, and its genius
My theoretical answers to those three questions:
- Joe saw the creature (maybe it had some influence on him like It did to lure them all back down)
- The creature is some demon/something supernatural (apparently it was also worshiped as the hieroglyph showed)
- Ted, B and Joe died after making their return (the creature was hostile so it’s a guarantee that it would kill them)
We dont really know what the creature is but the creepypasta community agreed that it was a hodag but we will never know

I just gotta say that this actually got my heart pumping because the fact that it looks so realistic and the thought of getting Stuck in a cave in general is more scary than every horror movie, because you can tell horror movies like it are fake because it’s doesn’t seem realistic, but doing like the whole hidden footage thing is just freaky, like if I didn’t know this was all fake, I probably would’ve believed it

I went cave exploring for the first time in a small formation in my country. The guide was cool, and he told us how he used to make his first-time explorers watch The Descent the day before they went into the caves. Funny guy.

What I think makes Ted the Caver good is that it doesn’t show/tells us what the thing in Floyd’s Tomb is/what it looks like, making us think about what it is, which makes it a whole lot scarier

Did spelunking as a middle schooler as a Girl Scout camp thing. An hour or so into our cave, our flashlight batteries started to die and our guide didn’t bother to tell us to bring extras or packed extras themselves. It became a race against time to find a way out before our batteries died and we were stuck in the dark. Ended up having to crawl through a gap about a foot/foot and a half wide through sulfurous smelling mud that we sunk in as we crawled. It was EXHILARATING!!!

Sometimes you have the "chance" for the soundwaves to bounce and trace all the way back to the entrance, and sometimes you don't have that much luck and the soundwaves hits bodies of water, moss or even just bounce back onto you and die down...
Having made explosives went off inside caves that were tunneling deep and pretty much in every direction, making the soil unstable (to make them collapse and make the ground a bit more stable by filling hollow bodies)
I can assure you that sometimes you don't hear them go off, you just feel the wind and see the dust come out...
Scary shit, cave diving ain't my thing for the sole fact that sound sometimes don't make it to the surface...

41:40 throughout this video, ted runs out of breath alot, now this obviously could be because of all the exercises hes doing, but i think that this cave has way less air circulation and air flow than outside, because it is way deeper in the ground, which is why ted runs out of breath so much.

@@Jaso-uk4heit's the creature inside of the cave breathing. Or rather, snoring. Each of the breezes are described as a rumbling, the rumbling stops after they start using their louder instruments to break open the entrance (waking the creature up), and the breeze always stopped with it.
We can get another hint towards it when the rumbling stops and is instead replaced with a momentary scream. Then there's no breeze to be felt.
I remember (I think) if there's wind then it would mean that it's a cave opening towards outside. I'd say it was given from the start,cause why would there be any wind?
Air circulates throughout a cave. The air pressure on the surface is a lot higher than the low pressure air in the cave, so air circulates moving the low pressure stuff out and the high pressure stuff in. The wind they hear is the low pressure air circulating out

I feel like his friend during the drilling hearing the noises maybe as he was drilling he saw something on the other side that put him into a trance and got him shook 1:01:27 (I haven’t seen all of it yet)
The ambience of this one is something else. You can feel terror in the darkness and I was fully expecting something to grab onto Ted when the light was out as a call back to the beginning where he said "You can feel it before you see it."
I think the best part though was the thing with the piglets, absolutely INSANE.

I haven't actually gotten a chance to really read and enjoy the original, what is it?
what i like with project with low budget, it’s that there’s some form of authenticity somehow? idk how to explain, but the fact that we can’t see anything on most scenes and that we can only rely on the sound we hear let’s our brain imagine the action by itself, which adds a lot to a stress factor in a lot of horror movie/series, i’ve studied in cinema and our teacher often said ‘imagination is way scarier then seeing the actual thing because of the uncertainty’ which is well executed in this one by a work of sound design and the great performance of the actors! tbh, those type of projects always gets me because it shows that sometimes you don’t need to make your projects super complicated for it to work, as long as you know how to portray it, it will do it’s job well and gets the idea across!
(sorry for rambling about this lol, i just wanted to show how cool low budget projects can be when made well with a lot of care, which i’m sure is the case for this series)
I think paired with the fact that the footage we see is all real, and with the caving information and good acting they do, helps with the authenticity

Literally everything in the creepypasta describes a wendigo. The smell, living in a cave, large objects being moved, the bare footsteps, and of course the sounds. Due to the heavy decay on a "wendigo's" eyes it pretty much has to see through echolocation. Which is why they scream so much.
Also the "wendigo" has an ability to sort of mentally torture people through the "uncanny valley effect". Which can be transmitted through sight, smell, and touch.

I went to find his channel as soon as he popped up on Wendigoons live a few months back. I think there was only 3-4 videos up at the time, so few subs and only a few more views. I watched them a was like ooooo cool someone turning such an iconic creepypasta into an analogue horror, super 👌. I think the name if the channel has changed now, I think it was called Ted's Caving Adventure, but as he's planning on doing more it's got a new name. But I'm not 100% on that, I'm awful with names.

Cool thing from earlier on in the video. Yes cavers always should have more than one light source, along with someone who knows where you will be. If all your light runs out then you are stuck and will have to feel your way out. That gets really tricky though in larger caves with multiple tunnels. It can also cause you to accidentally go deeper into the cave. So if anyone wants to go caving the main rules, always have someone know where you are, bring multiple lights, be safe and think things through, tred lightly, don't do things that is risky and will hurt you.

It took me two nights - nights I should've gotten better sleep, because I have work, lol - but I totally got to the end. Piglets, my dude - piglets. Thanks for showing off this one; this CreepyPasta is one that I return to a bunch since it is credited as THE FIRST, but I always forget it so it was cool to see it realized, rather effectively, in analog horror form. Never knew about this. This was a long one for you but it was worth the watch; props to you Marcus because it seems like something that's not easy to parse. Having to go back and rewatch things to understand them better and then explain them to US because they're hard to see what's going on; you're the man, dude!

My thoughts are:
There was a chamber beyond that rock that was the creature's home or even its prison that maybe guarded a civilization, seeing that people in the past worshiped it and maybe was sealed off by other people that thought it was a malevolent being
And maybe the symbol on the wall is weakening and now that thing can open and close it at will
I actually overnighted in a cave a few years back. It's a commercial thing so it's safe, so we set up camp and slept overnight, then explored the cave during the day. It was super fun I'd do it again.
Funniest bit of info about this is the story of Ted the caver was actually a prank he pulled on his family and friends that managed to escape that bubble and spread.

My thoughts were that the cave was alive in some way at first? It doesn't make much sense when you really think about it, but with the way everything was playing out, I thought that's what it would be. I really like the way this makes you feel terror, rather than horror. That's something I really appreciate about things like this. It leaves you with that lingering sense of fear, and "what if?" and it's difficult to stop thinking about it. This is great.

I remember reading the creepypasta so many years ago and, recently, a channel did an "study" on the original creepypasta. Watching this series while remembering details from the original material was mindblowing and the way they translated it to video was incredible and really well made and performed. Congrats to all of them and to Marcus for showing me this amazing interpretation of the creepypasta!

I think there are ghosts AND a creature. It would make a lot of sense. They probably drew on the walls and made staircases, they are either dead or still thriving underneath the ground. and they probably worship something ancient and powerful, that’s why they are down there in the first place. the big creature creaks and rumbles and maybe is the cave, crying in pain when they break its “bones” or skin. I mean caves have veins and arteries running through them, gaping mouths, maybe it’s something like the mystery flesh pit
