You’re right. The folks coming against you can’t hear beyond the thick country accents. Field Mobb were actually some spitters with actual punchlines and all. I remember years ago on Atlanta radio (can’t remember if it was 107.5 or 97.5) when on either late Saturday or Sunday nights (I forget the specific night) the station would let the DJ have more control over what got played. As a result the DJ would play a bit of stuff that wasn’t in the normal top 40 rotation; stuff that normally would appeal to the Hip Hop heads who were about lyricism from both mainstream and underground stuff. Anyway, they would at a certain point let listeners call in to spit freestyles and even battle. One time they had Shawn Jay as a guest and he got involved with the battles. Shawn started spitting off the top (evidenced by the fact that he would call out things that were said at the moment) and was just butchering whoever tried to challenge him. Cats are out their minds if they think FM didn’t have lyrical abilities.
Man, I just typed elsewhere about how he was on Atlanta mainstream radio one late night (I forget which weekend night but it was a time slot where the DJ would play more underground hip hop) as a guest and how he joined in on the battles where the station would let listeners call in and battle. I thank EVERYBODY for appreciating & continuing to love Field Mob & everything they contributed to hip-hop. As Shawn's lil brother i can say that Ali did his research as far as their career. As far as Shawn personal life & our family, that video makes me sad cuz i kno that none of what he said happened, actually happened. I remember when he posted that on FB. I was gonna go thru the process of correcting everything he said that's untrue but i ain't putting that kind of energy into defending lies that don't really matter, & i understand my brother is mentally ill. As much as it hurts to see he's seeking pity by lying on our family & playing innocent, these days I'm choosing to be more compassionate to the fact that he's ill & doesn't kno what to do or how to move on after field mob. But lying to tear down your own family ain't the way to go. But trauma is real & we all have our own share of it. I pray God heals my brother & my family, & families all over the world cuz too many families get torn apart over things that aren't worth it. I haven't seen/heard from Shawn since last September but i pray he's ok. Again, thank yall for supporting field mob over the yrs. Fame is 1 hell of a drug so plz be kind & considerate to these celebrities. They're just regular ppl at the end of the day but the fame comes with so much pain & pressure that ppl like my brother can't handle. He's still 1 of the greatest rappers EVER to me & we're very proud of what he's accomplished. I just wish he didn't have to lie & tear us down to try to save face. But i get it tho. He been dealing with middle child syndrome since i was born, to the point it makes me feel like he's upset by my birth since I'm the youngest. Idk. I just kno bitterness, Jealousy, & negativity towards the very ppl who love & been there for u despite how u lie on us publicly, ain't the path to healing he needs. But only God knows what any of us truly need. If u see this Shawn, i love u, & like i always say, "Be Happy bro. It's a choice."
I'm from Georgia but I live in Jacksonville FL. I've been around Shawn J a few times. We even had a fall out on facebook. I gotta say, seeing him like this, what he's going through and been brings a real tear to my eyes fr. Field Mob Georgia legends fr.

They had a great gimmick, but instead of making song after song about poor life being broke they quickly switched to showing themselves living it up

I still got these guy's cds...their creativity was/is one of a kind. 🔥🔥🔥
One of them was battling stage 4 cancer I hope he's better now.
Just singing this the other day. That's a damn shame😞When you're poor you gone go get it❤️Only time I listened to country is through rap/rnb. Him talking brings you back because they don't make'em like that no more.
I am speechless about Jay’s familial relationship.
This goes to show that *not* everyone is meant to be a parent.
I mean wow…she couldn’t even call the ambulance 😔🥺😭😭
No wonder he was getting into trouble. He wanted attention. I hope he’s surrounded by good people now ❤
Yeah I have no words…that’s crazy af
@@dinkyboss after listening to him, I was legitimately speechless for one hour.

Still my favorite rap duo. I know every single song bar for bar. That first album to ME is an absolute CLASSIC. It’s heartbreaking at to hear the relationship Shawn Jay has with his mom. Wow.

My hometown heroes! One was a friend to me and my brother and the other a friend to my cousin.

It's crazy how most fans don't know that Luda has been notorious for signing artist, using them and black balling them
he never signed an artist he didnt r word. black balled shawna field bob shelved i20 and the whole DTP. luda ain shi and thats why hes as successful as he is. still one of my top 5 rappers out of ATL even tho he from chicago originally
@@MetaphysicalShaMan Luda may have been the face & co-founder of DTP, but Chaka Zulu ran the business side. Luda was barely handling any of the signings or paperwork. An DTP was under the Def Jam umbrella, Lyor & Kevin Liles all the way down to LA Reid wasn't caring about no DTP artists, they wanted the Luda album bc that's what bought the money in. Chingy is a exemption bc his deal was DTP/Capitol. Field Mob was lucky to even see their album drop during that time.
@@MetaphysicalShaMan champaign or campaign Illinois actually but everything else is fucking factual
I was a child myself and a huge fan of Ludacris at one point. He was always painted like the good guy. You never heard of him getting into a lot of scandals or maybe I was missing out on the info/gossip. Now that I’m an adult I see how he wronged his artists and how they suffered. Smfh

Field Mob and Dirty Boyz were the most underrated groups in the south period😎💯
Field Mob could have genuinely been the next big thing. sick of being lonely is still such a slap
Field Mob and the Dirty boys should be legendary right now. sad

He has cancer
@@KB-Unc I think he all clear now bro but even before the illness, I know people who have gotten older after drink / drugs and there face ages fast the same way. Look at the other member he looks fine rn. In the vid he said ‘charged with cocaine and weed possession’, not ‘intent to sell’ that man was using, wishing him the best.

I even remember them coming to visit a talent show at Columbia High School lol we was so disruptive they couldn't perform. But anyway I'm still a fan 🤪 😜 Wish nothing but the best for them!

Most importantly... very sorry to hear about Shawn Jay having cancer. Sending strength and well wishes to Shawn and his family.
When sick of being lonely came out... I was about 13... basically I remember being obsessed with it from the very first moment I heard it... back then... I would sometimes record music videos... So I could listen whenever I wanted to. (On a freaking VHS tape.) 😂👀 Some of you reading this remember those days. 💯.
Also... I was obsessed with so what when it was released in 2006.
Still love both of those songs.
Wow... never thought Ludacris would ever keep money from one of his artists. ( allegedly.)
Beeen watching you all weekend stumbled across your channel I love these stories. It’s artists that I have forgotten about but this ☝🏿. Yes sir!! Field mob is still rotation.
That 1st field mob album was a classic in GA

After Chingy left the label, some of the Disturbing Tha Peace artists dissed him on the 2005 compilation album Ludacris Presents Disturbing Tha Peace. Smoke disses Chingy in Ludacris song That's My Sh*t "Watch the chameleon paint flop, like Chingy's last album" funnily enough Chingy's album Powerballin' actually went platinum before the Ludacris Presents Disturbing Tha Peace album came out
That was a hard album no lie 💯
Ludacris and Chaka did some Shady business.
Loved their energy but man I hated that Sick of Being Lonely song. On top of being annoying they played it 100 times a day where I'm from. Lol
There are things called contractual agreements if you don't read the fine print you get robbed
In a 90s 2000s kid and everytime we bbq at my house, field mob “so what” and “sick of being lonely” always get play .
I didn't hear about them I seen the video sick of being lonely and one of them had on Kansas City Chiefs and I started listening to them ever since
Smoke
When you are in and out of jail frequently, missing shows, missing recording sessions and etc, it’s wild to point fingers anywhere but the mirror.
That’s cold praying 😢for Shawn, smoke is fine asf still
I remember when they first came out they were great, THE VIDEO with them in that old car rapping about being broke simply resonated with young black people like me! They had a great gimmick, but instead of making song after song about poor life being broke they quickly switched to showing themselves living it up
Ali, bro how about a video about Nappy Roots
Man these dudes is super talented… people feel threatened from your potential… and they don’t like to feel like you are going to outshine them

2 chainz was proof that Luda holds his most talented artists back. If he didn’t leave DTP when he did he would’ve been in the same boat and never would have had a hit bigger than ‘duffle bag boy’ when he was in playaz circle.
Grew up Decatur GA. We was bumpin this shit big. I remember moving back to Texas as a teenager and putting everybody on Field Mob. We bumped it there too. From Ashy to Classy! I’ll never forget those times

Both Albany, Georgia's Shawn Jay and Smoke (Chevy P), collectively as the duo Field Mob should definitely do an album with [1] the Chicago, Illinois Rap group Crucial Conflict [Coldhard, Kilo, Never, Q-Ball & Wildstyle], along with [2] Montgomery, Alabama's Big Pimp and his cousin Mr. G Stacka The Gangsta, collectively as the duo Dirty (aka Dirtyboyz).
