His fittings and chassis were removed, and he was set to be refinished/repainted but it never got done. Idk where his the rest of the model would be but everybody is saying “they massacred my boy” when that’s not the case.
This seems like the most probable thing to me too, still sad to see it in such condition though Makes you really wonder what happened and the story, like how did it get here? Where is the rest of him? How long has he been like this? How much of the damage is original and how much has happened since being stored wherever it was prior to auction? So many questions and so few answers
@@clockwork3494Right, and also if he was to be restored imagine how annoying would it be for the original parts to start showing up after you finished. Imagine making a whole replica chassis just for the real deal to pop up somewhere.

It seems the timeline is slotting together almost perfectly at this stage, it all adds up, seems he was meant to be refurbished after the incident but as to how he got here instead of repaired is a most peculiar mystery.

The shade of blue on the for-sale model is a lot lighter than the shade the model wore in S11, not to mention the glossier finish compared to the matte finish seen in the HiT era. The 1982 production bible does mention the idea of having a second backup model of Thomas from the jump, so it could be a shell from either a complete or incomplete second Thomas.
the reason the paint is different is because the it’s the original season 1 blue (which they painted over, they did this with every prop) and it’s glossy because they probably polished (notice how the cab roof isn’t glossy)

ThomasTankMerch already confirmed that the “Perspex” models from Seasons 4-11 and The Perspex Model from Seasons 1-3 are not the same. They are two models of Thomas.
