- Passionate about life, humanity, and making, Clive Foden spends a lot of his time in his workshop creating objects from wood - bowls, hairpins, feathers. Clive is nearly 70, a retired school teacher living in Cromer, Norfolk.
Over the last decade, he's carved around 30 wooden feathers. His goal is to get close to the real thing, reproducing them - imperfections and all - as perfectly as possible.
In this interview, Clive explores how his artistic and artisanal work connects to the rest of him; his pursuit of perfection; his journey into buddhism; his attitude to death.
"Don't take life too seriously. Just play. Without play, you are a shadow of who you could be; play is when we actually get as human as we ever can get."

What a truly lovely piece! This is a proper celebration of what life can and should be, eloquently expressed by Clive and entrancingly captured by Taryn. Thank you both for a fabulous five minutes.
Top bloke , fine craftsman and I am privileged to own one of his feathers

I love the feather he carved for me and super love the knitting bowl he turned for me (as does my son who keeps trying to "borrow" it!
