Thank you Greta. You are simply amazing. You have inspired me to march and fight for climate justice. I have mulched my entire quarter acre suburban property in Midwest north America. I'm looking forward to growing as many flowers and vegetables as I can. Using Hugelkultur and composting I've been able become more self sustainable and this is only first year of gardening! Thanks for reading

Well if you follow climate science then you should know you can not rely on crops as a food source anymore. I sometimes find it hard to understand...farmers worlwide are struggling and have their crops failing. But people think they can just plant some tomatoes or whatever and be allright? You should anyway man. Whatever grows grows right?

@@forestdweller5581 with a deep mulch and Hugelkultur, my plants will have be a bit more resilient. But yes like you, I don't expect much good these days...given the rate of change. This way im giving back to earth through building soil and providing habitat for bio diversity. Why not?
Also, I'm using polyculture not monoculture like large scale farmers

HEMP!!! it can be made into plastics, clothing, BIO FUEL, hemp-crete...so on it can replace oil in a lot of ways, i never hear about the pros of replacing pertol with it and it probably because oil companys dont want that to happen but growing hemp is also very benificial for the environment.... GOVERNMENTS SHOULD BE FUNDING FARMERS TO GROW HEMP!

Actually, that is a very old and overpublicised message. With desperation clinging on to keep society alive. Actually, hemp is a very old plant. And an interesting one at that. The ancestors found, who are thousands of years old carry hemp seeds. But also other seeds and resources. They were more in touch with nature than industrial people like us and they did not consider hemp to be a saviour of the planet or anything like that.
I used to be the nr. 1 marihuana farmer here in Holland so i know a bit about this species. Cannabis will certainly not save us from industrial destruction. Nettles have much of the same qualities for making rope, clothing and so on but you don't see many people claiming nettles can replace oil and save the planet.
The cannabis hype or hemp hype is fueled by industry...endless growth.
There are a bunch of people all trying to reïnvent the wheel through cannabis and 99% of them are full of shit.
Big ass egoists who will take your money gladly while talking tough about making the planet better...sheer maffia.
And by the way, governments do grow hemp and encourage other growers..of course they do.
The oil companies have the patents already on important strains anyway.
Definitely not a good thing for biodiversity or climate change if hemp production is attempted in larger scale.

This has been a well known fact for decades .. Evil lurks everywhere . Dupont is the largest contributor to anti hemp propaganda and Funds the US government to prohibit the growth and use of HEMP . Follow the money and you will find the most evil starting with Big Oil and Dupont .

WW1 farmers were asked to plant hemp bc it could be used for so many things, then the plastic industry (fueled by the oil industry) propagandized hemp and cannabis and became illegal with supposedly the same potency and effects of heroin, and scheduled higher than cocaine and meth. Hey XR, just so you know: the automatic translation of the video's description comes out wrong (at least in Italian it does): her phrase "I've been warned that telling people to panic about the climate crisis is a very dangerous thing to do" should be rendered as "Mi hanno avvertito che dire alla gente di panicare per la crisi climatica è una cosa molto pericolosa" (not, as it currently shows, "Mi è stato detto di far sapere alla gente che la crisi climatica è una cosa molto pericolosa", which translates to "I've been asked to tell people that the climate crisis is a dangerous thing").

She hasn't and will never finish the obligatory 9 years in school that more than 99% of Swedish children manage (the 99% include people that doesn't know any Swedish or English).
She was chosen for her childish look and ability to speak English. That she doesn't know anything though in kindergarten or school makes her someone that most people want to protect and comfort.
The left sends out a child that is told that everyone and everything (except global Communism) is dangerous. Greta will be an uninformed and scared child the rest of her (hopefully long) life. I feel sorry for her while hating those that made her afraid of everything coming from a person having a belief to the right of Stalin and Claus Schwab.
Greta is a mental slave being played by people that doesn't care about anyone except them self. That includes politicians, this channel and her parents!

Greta is right: they are playing a game. It's a game where we lose in the end, and we know it. It's very frustrating, but I don't know how to prevent the worst outcome. Let's hope we stop fiddling as Rome burns, but I just don't see it happening. Those fossil fuels are like pure gold to humanity now, so to stop them being dug up and burn them seems like a hopeless dream given their inherent value. We ARE giving up, but we don't have the courage to say it.

I believe the only approach that will work at this point is sustained mass demonstrations of non-violent civil disobedience. The billionaire elites who control the world's economic and political systems have corrupted all of the traditional democratic levers of power: Elections, paid-for congress, stacked judiciary, corporate-owned mass media, and so on. We need a million or more in the streets of D.C. and New York demanding a change in leadership -- to one that works for ALL of the people and for our children's future.

Greta is one of the most courageous, bravest, fearless open and honest people I have ever heard, she's young, highly intelligent, and female......humanity is addicted to fossil fuels, every single thing we do is either directly or indirectly as a result of burning this resource, we have had warnings since 1847 about the high cost to the environment fossil fuels would bring, this high cost is the destruction of the biosphere, the warming of the planet to the degree that the arctic is melting rapidly, and we will likely have a blue ocean event within the next couple of years after which the planet will heat up more rapidly, at present we are feeling the heating from emissions put into the atmosphere in 1980, there is a 40 year lag in the system, the permafrost is melting and because 24% of the exposed land mass in the northern hemisphere is permafrost, this is huge as its releasing methane, also because the oceans are warming rapidly globally and in particular in the arctic in the ESAS, methane is being released from the clathrates on the shallow sea floor, we have gone past the tipping points and have triggered self reinforcing feedback loops and its all gone exponential...…..sadly no one has informed Greta that if we turned off all the fossil fuel plants tomorrow, the particulates would fall from the atmosphere and the planet would heat up rapidly, this would likely be the human extinction event as we are complex animals and all other complex animals will go extinct also because organisms cannot keep up with that rate of change...….sadly and criminally nothing can be done, it is way too late, action should have been taken at the very least 50 years ago and then we might have had a fighting chance...….sadly at the core of all the problems is population, the planet's resources have only ever been able to sustain 1.5 billion people, and we have been in overshoot for decades, and we currently add 200,000 people births minus deaths each day to the planet, it's insane to even think that the growth paradigm could keep going, infinite growth on a finite planet, humanity has trashed the planet, killed everything, destroyed everything, we are in the midst of the 6th mass extinction and its the greatest and deadliest with great speed, so far, and its caused by humans...……….this is why there is no action being taken by those in government who do the bidding of the big corporations and the fossil fuels industries...…..this is why Greta's words fall on deaf ears, its literally too late......having said that, we should do what is right nonetheless, especially decommissioning the 450 nuclear power plants

    • @domitron
      @domitron 4 ปีที่แล้ว

@@juliehay I fully agree, except I don't think we should abandon nuclear power. It's relatively safe, and it's probably the only energy solution we have that can even begin to take the place of fossil fuels. But I doubt we'll do anything until it is too late, and yes, it probably is too late. I know it's selfish, but I cannot help it: I'm so happy I've 49 rather than 16 like Greta.

Talking about what has to happen and then doing nothing doesn't realy help. In my country we all seem to agree that climate change is happening and has to be stopped. Hardly anyone however is willing to give up any comfort to realize this, and therein is the problem. We say we want change, but we also want the freedom to fly, drive and consume how we want.
