Swiss Toboggan Review, Little Amerricka Chance Toboggan | Concussion Warning

  • Swiss Toboggan at Little Amerricka is the last remaining Chance toboggan at a US amusement park. This portable model was extremely popular in the 1970s, but very few still remain today. This coaster is weird. It features caged vehicles, a vertical lift, a seemingly endless helix, and a brutal finale. Watch you head!

    This coaster is revenge for all the short people who experience constant headbanging on any arrow ever from being too short to fit over the OSTR. Now tall people get to feel just as much pain on a coaster as we do on some.

      exactly what I was thinking. For me, it's the B&M OTSR that I have a hard time with, while taller riders have no problem with those. I'm fine with Swiss Toboggan.

      Anaconda at kings dominion destroyed my head when I was much shorter in 2017 lol. Im now 5 foot 11, and after reriding corkscrew at cedar point last year I love arrow restraints, and I didn't find the ride painful at all

    I’ve always told friends that ask how this ride was that if they’d like to replicate the experience, just go down to the local grocery store, find a way to get a shopping cart to the roof, climb into said cart, then have someone push the cart off the roof. I think that’s a pretty good simulation of this horrible ride. I’d actually re-ride a Zamperla Volare all day over riding one of these more than once. Cheers to you for surviving the Swiss Toboggan, and for putting the pov up for our enjoyment!

    As I said on the last video, I didn’t experience too much pain on this, thankfully, but the seating inside was just hilariously uncomfortable. It was extremely cramped, and I knew I was in for quite a ride when the only way the operator could get the top down was for me to tilt my head forward 45 degrees, where it stayed for the whole ride.

    I have ridden two of them in my misadventures (at Conneaut Lake Park and Lakemont Park, respectively). Glad to have done so for the sake of saying I rode them, but I can’t wholly say I’m too heartbroken in their absence.
    Sidebar: it absolutely floors me that this ride and Lightning Run at Kentucky Kingdom are both on the manufacturer’s resume. Such a jump in quality!
    (Sidebar to the sidebar: if the vertical lift wasn’t unnerving enough, did you know the reason Hershey removed both of theirs is due to the car getting stuck midway up the lift hill?)

    I’m actually from Wisconsin and have visited the park before to see the railroad, but I wanted to give this Coaster a shot too. Yeah, it was pretty jerky, but I would give it credit for being the one of the most unique roller coasters I’ve ever rode on, even if it’s not entirely for the right reason.

    I think the Toboggans do have some significance for debuting the vertical lift hill (yeah, you were correct. RCDB says so), but they’re hot garbage otherwise. It’s honestly pretty impressive lift chains were strong enough at the time to support vertical lifts! And it is a little weird we had vertical LIFTS before vertical DROPS. 🤔

    Did you try Test Pilot, the Roll-o-plane at little Amerricka? That thing makes the chance toboggan feel like a bed in a 4 star resort. It was like being locked in a torture box for 5 minutes. The metal bar dug into my hip so hard I had a bruise for a month 😖

    up until it was removed shortly after 2006. Despite the jankiness, I actually enjoyed it...

    I’m pretty sure this ride was flaws to begin with. Like you don’t want the cage cars to prevent head damage, but at the same time you pretty much need for those tight clearances. So you either protect the hands, or the head.

  • @sagejun
    @sagejun 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Ive had some pretty vague memories of riding one of these in Alaska from early on in my childhood my whole life. I've never seen one since and the layout seemed pretty impossible. Plus it was in Alaska which has no amusement parks so for a long time I had thought it was all a wacky dream. Def recall staring up at and Riding straight up into the dark hole at the top of the ride (because it was night time) the lift hill was rattling like crazy and it echoed pretty loudly in the tunnel. At the time I was fairly certain that I was about to die. Lol. It was my first coaster and ended up being a Good time.

    I rode this recently. While I do enjoy the helix and appreciate the history, this ride is a height nightmare.
    First time riding, I banged my head on the roof of the cage and had a bit of a headache. The other two times weren't as bad as I found a way to ride back.

      Fury and Intimidator are far better rides.

  • @OklahomaCoasterFan
    @OklahomaCoasterFan 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    "just 5'10". That is average (or a little above) for a man, and well above average for a woman. At 5'6", it was not lost on me that the clearance would be a problem for people 6' or taller. But since that is a small percentage of people, the clearance is okay for most people. I'm not claustrophobic, so that aspect doesn't bother me, but the lack of exposure always takes away from any ride.
    Despite those negatives, I really enjoyed this ride. Of course, I didn't know ahead of time that I was supposed to hate it. Nothing world class, but it was still a lot of fun. I went back and bought 4 more tickets to get 4 more rides on it. I can see why it could be terrible for taller people, but since I'm not tall, it was enjoyable. The jankiness even added to the ride for me. I got a kick out of the ending sequence. It's hanging on in my top 200 out of over 500. Maybe they should put a sign up saying this is not recommended for anyone over 5'7" or so.

      @CanobieCoaster  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    See in RCDB: Twisted Timbers at Kings Dominion, and how would you compare that to this, in terms of airtime? I also say that because in this video you said:

    Might be worth the ride for the uniqueness/WTFness if I ever run into one (there is one traveling in the UK I think). Otherwise I guess those are probably more enjoyable if you are child, and can actually fit properly into one of those cars. Probably not the worst coasters ever though, there are Chinese Knock-offs of them.

    These rides looked so fascinatingly messed up that I just had to experience it for myself. Maybe it's because my expectations were so tanked, but I didn't find it to be that bad. But I think most of my amusement was over how much of a train wreck this little coaster is lol.

    I thought you'd give this a 0/10 because you think Range at YesterLand Farm is better, and you were really close to giving that a 0/10. In your Top 25 least favorite coasters video from a year ago, Swiss Toboggan was tied for your 6th least favorite roller coaster of all time, and Range was #9. And btw, I'm 5'10'', too.
