When I decided to look up "ninja gaiden speed run" I didn't know what to expect but it was definitely not a soft spoken cowboy destroying one of the most brutally difficult nes games about an asian myth warrior fighting demon statues. But ok. Great run.
This game is on the level of dark souls, no way in the world would i have been able to come even close to beating it without the Switch rewind function.
In my opinion Arcus is one of the best speedrunners to watch. Very dedicated and consistently improves. He also does not rage and throw out a stream of words my kids don't need to hear. I appreciate a streamer I can sit and watch with my boys.

@@chrisneto Exactly. It is a community effort, and even the people watching ads or pitching in a couple bucks or just watching and commenting all contribute even if only in a small way. The "royal we" really does show how good of a guy Arcus is, but it is also really appropriate.

Had to come see this after the AVGN video. It exceeded any expectations I could've imagined. Maybe one of the important points to take away is to move constantly forward / slash quickly because enemies will bog you down otherwise? Would make legit sense: it's Ninja Garden, not Samurai Gaiden. (Easier said than done, of course!)

Don't know how I got on the speed run videos but I watched the history of this game and it's records and I can't stop watching speed runs! This was always my favorite game! I got a Nintendo for Christmas just before turning 5 in 1989 my aunt got me ninja Gaiden 🥷 As my first game! It holds a special place in my heart and watching you blast through it And all your dedication hard work and determination is so cool! I could never even get past Malf but now I finally see how. Thanks for sharing your adventures with us! Keep crushing it and pushing your self!

I’m going to try to beat his time. I have a way to save time that I’ve come up with that will allow me to take the record as long as I come somewhat close to Arcus’ splits, which is obviously a huge task. I’ll say it like this, if I can get around an 11:41 or less, the timesave I’ve come up with would make up the rest. The problem is, its really hard to learn, but once/if I do, I think it will be effective. If I get it to a consistent level it will save me at least a couple free seconds with no downside. Deciding you’re going to try to beat Arcus’ record is a crazy feeling, it’s like standing at the foot of Everest with the intention to climb it, looking up at the peak and knowing that’s what you’re up against. I’ve recently started practicing and I can already tell this is going to be a long road. Im going to keep the timesave to myself for now but If I ever give up on this goal, I’ll make a post detailing the timesave in r/speedrun and the Ninja Gaiden Speedruns Discord so that someone else can get a chance at beating the God of Ninja Gaiden. Although its more than likely that Arcus will just use it to lower his own time 😂

Yes. There is an rng manipulation that is based on the game's global timer.
