My heart soared when the joystick came out. It was a Win95 game, but Mech Warrior 4 was my favorite game for so long. I'm also old enough to have needed boot disks to turn off system resources to get a game running. The fact that the sound is *just working* on all these games is freaking miraculous.

This video had me accessing parts of my brain that I haven't used in 30+ years. I thought I'd forgotten all of the old dos commands used back then, but apparently they were just being stored in some subdirectory of my brain's C: drive. It's crazy how the mind can recall seemingly unimportant memories from so many years ago.

Just wanted to jump back in and say that when it comes to controls in Descent, I found that the ideal way to play the game was to map your controls so that you're using the numpad along with the keyboard rather than just the keyboard. It spreads your hands apart more comfortably and it gives your right hand a much more functional, versatile, and comfortable control set.

If you really want to go retro, it's all about Pentiums. If you don't believe me, ask Weird Al. The man knows!
Maybe you'd also like to mention other runners, like ScummVM, or a dedicated Duke 3D runner, or maybe even my favorite OMW (might be a bit risky now, I think Bethesda under Microsoft is trying to hide it so people would buy their upcoming port).
Oh, and those Abandonware games, I was shocked at some titles I found there. Simpson hit and run is on there! Plenty of Nfs titles too! So maybe they deserve another video. Many of them could run on Android through Exagear, but that's a completely different can of worms. I'd keep it simple and PC-centric honestly.

DOS Games on Android are easier to setup compared to finding Windows 98 PCs or laptops that can play most of the DOS games. Sometimes, we just don't want to keep opening the BIOS menu on the PC to adjust speed for older DOS games. Having Magic DOSBox makes it more convenient. Also a smartphone or device with mid-range chipset will still do a decent job in emulating DOS games.

Some of the DOS games have very nice Windows versions, and more are getting made as time goes on. Doom 1&2, Descent 1&2, Quake, Star Control 2 (the Windows version is called The Ur-Quan Masters), C&C, Red Alert, Warcraft II, even Dark Forces got a nice Windows port in the last couple of years. I've only been using DosBox for Raptor Call of the Shadows and Dune2 (well, and Warcraft 1) lately, and even Raptor had a Windows remake recently, but I don't like that it stretches the game to 16:9, and the DOS version allows you to have a soundfont, such as EmperorGrieferus's Roland SC-55, which works great with GZDoom/LZDoom, too. But, lately, I've been rediscovering a lot of DOS games that don't have a Windows port, and you can totally play them on a PC as well!

Don't really have a favorite DOS game ... Early nineties i was all in on console gaming, Sega Genesis then N64. My first PC was Windows 98 in 1999, but I didn't really get into PC gaming until around 2004 when FFXI (the MMORPG) released.

I don't think so. I'm pretty sure you can run Windows 3.1 or Windows 95 or maybe even Windows 98 on Android with some tinkering, I'm definitely going to experiment with that, but I doubt we'll get 3D accelerated games. Never say never though. If your heart wants BIG RIGS, it MAY be possible.
