Funny you say that. I used to work for Eckerd's that, at the time, was owned by JC Penney. The then CEO of JC Penney Allen Questrom had to write an open letter justifying hiring J. Wayne Harris since he just ran another company into the ground -Grand Union. Everyone had to read and sign the letter they agreed the hiring was just. I signed it with a fake name since I did not agree. J. Wayne Harris would go around his buyers, make "deals" himself (probably pocketing some money along the way) and burden Eckerd's with lots of slow moving merchandise. Seems that many companies have a history of being run by buffoons and recycling them to boot.

Hey I was a Lowe's employee at the roeland park ks store. I was a delivery driver. This last summer I was the last driver there because everyone quit so I had a lot of 12+ hour days 6 days a week in 100 degree heat. One day I did 16 hours. I ended up reporting another driver for sexually harassing (groping) his/my female boss on company time in the back. 4 days later i got retaliated against and fired. The driver never got so much as a reprimand despite 3 other reputable employees witnessing this behavior. Lowe's also refused to pay my quarterly bonus to me costing me $400. Then Lowe's BANNED me from all stores permanently because the state department of labor said Lowe's had no reason to fire me and granted me unemployment. That was my thank you for saving their department single handedly.
This guy is doing the Lord's work. Once scorned by a once reputable company, this man has gone on a war path exposing EVERYONE that gets in his way. Love him.

Well, it's gotten worse. Since the pandemic, it's a shitshow. No social distancing, customers not wearing masks. I saw a customer throw an empty paint can at an associate. No management back-up as this was gng on. I didn't want to go to work anymore knowing that I was going to have to put up with shit from customers, because I had to hold on to my job no matter what. I got fired anyway. The next week 2 ASM's, 3DSM's, and one specialist were fired. And yeah, you're right, hiring burger flippers that can't sell a paintbrush.

I was a Service agent ( car prep) at Enterprise car rental. I spent 2 years at the Totem lake location, and 10 years at the Kirkland location. Now, with the Corona Virus scare, I was laid off.i did how ever get severance pay. But I really have no regrets. It was a fun job.great people to work with, good times. Too bad it ended.
I worked as a Front End Loader for about 2 years. Not very long, I know, but one day I don’t show up to work because my schedule said I wasn’t working that day. I show up to work the next day only for my dipshit manager to tell me that I was “No longer with them” and I needed to leave. That place is a huge waste of time, and no one should ever work there under any circumstances.

I stopped going to Home Depot 15 years ago because Lowe’s was always more helpful and friendly. I absolutely hated HD and swore I would never shop there again. That is until about 2016-2017, when Lowe’s became an absolutely miserable experience every time I walked in the door. Now I only choose to go to Lowe’s to look for clearance items and get in and out as fast as possible. The employees at Lowe’s are no longer friendly and knowledgeable, they are bitter and inexperienced.
We are all bitter now because of what Marvin is doing. Literally eliminating whole sections of the store and cutting hours so much that us employees have no time to get our minor tasks done, let alone help customers. We are so short staffed is not even funny. I was literally the only employee in lumber until 4 O'clock today. I can't drive a forklift without someone spotting for me, so I couldn't load customers or drop product down for customers. Cand get a manager to help because they're all tied up just trying to manage the shitshow that Marvin has given them. I had one ASM that was running appliances, plumbing paint, and helping at the registers all day today. He was calling for help but we are so short staffed that there's nothing any of us can do. Marvin is dragging this place into the ground. I use to love working at lowes
We also had stopped shopping at HD because of some bad experiences. Then Lowe’s best customer associates were just gone and the newer ones are less than helpful because they just don’t know much of anything. So we have gone back to HD and also only go to Lowe’s when it is absolutely necessary. The Lowe’s store in our area was always crowded before all this happened,.
In 1999 the Lowe's family sold out. From the time on Lowe's has been going down hill slowly. After 21 years I finally gave up and quit. Thank you for what you are doing.
My husband remarked on this at least two years ago. The most helpful associates are gone, the most knowledgeable are gone, and so you had better know exactly what you want!! The newer employees may act like they know how to help you but will send you to the wrong aisle, where the item that you want is NOT there.
I haven't been a part of the workforce for many years, but as a customer, I appreciate a good salesperson. Some of the new employees don't even know how to put your groceries in a bag correctly. When I happen to get one that does, I let them know how much I appreciate them. You are doing an excellent job steering me away from stores that mistreat their employees and to spend my money at stores that treat their employees good.
I sold my Lowe's stock after they fired me. That was 6 years ago. Last year I called the store to check on my old colleagues and everyone was gone except one in millwork. They went through 4 store manager's in 6 years.
I am a former employee, I quit two months ago. The store I worked at has gone through 3 store managers in the last two years. HR was handled at corporate and so was scheduling. The department managers were scared they were going to be let go. The associates were treated like morons. I was in sales for forty years, I retired and went to work part-time at Lowe’s. I was reprimanded for taking too much time with customers when I was actually selling other items to them. I feel sorry for the associates who had to have this crap job to feed their families. After five years I finally had enough.
When I worked at Lowes up in Texarkana, it was bad. It was all about the Lowes "family" and Lowes "culture" they ended up icing me out despite having been told I was one of their hardest working, and best work ethic. According to all of my managers, I went more than above and beyond. They claimed it was a lack of hours, but it wasn't.
Jim Keeling I know. My dad had been a loyal customer until he had trouble getting a dryer he had bought. No associate kept their word, knew where the dryer was, did not have it ready to pick up when they said they did, and the manager begged for forgiveness because of the debacle. I have seen the exact same stuff happened at an auto parts chain I worked for when they implemented an overly strict minimum goals program.
Basically while the corporate actions may not be the same....the end result exactly the same thing as what’s happening at GameStop....the employees have no union to protect them, so the Execs are screwing them over to boost profits and share prices. Don’t get me wrong, unions have their own flaws, however Unionization becomes a necessary evil when ceos and corporate execs stop giving a damn about employees, and begin exploiting or firing them to benefit themselves.

I've been with Lowe's 11 years, and this past year and a half or so has been the worst I've ever seen. Not much intimidates me, however these days I go in and lay low clock out go home. People are getting fired left and right.... sad place to go to work.

I have been working for Lowe's for 1 year now, when I started it was a great place to work. All my co workers were friendly and hard-working. Over the next year, I have seen our cleaning crew fired, grill and lawn mower assemblers fired, HR fired. Everyone is talking about how their positions are expendable. The CEO was the JCPenney CEO until June of 2018. He started doing the same thing to JCPenney as he is doing to Lowe's. During his time at JCPenney the stock dropped down about half the value it was when he started there. He was also in charge of the United States home depot stores. But if you ask him he will tell you he was the CEO. He was not the CEO he worked under the CEO. He has been heard telling people that he wants to make Lowe's just like home depot. But people have noticed that the changes he is making is not for the better. He has actually done things in the reverse. It said that he still has a large amount of stock in home depot. Employees feel that he is trying to destroy Lowe's home improvement stores. Employees of Lowe's are in fear that one day they will go to work and the stores will be closed. A lot of the share holders for Lowe's are Lowe's employees. Like you said he is only out for himself not the employees and not the customers.

Thank god he left The Depot... he almost tanked us. “Power hours” aren’t a thing anymore. Instead we are now focused on staying in stock and my store is actually in a hiring boom.

How do the shareholders/ceo think the company is going to grow when they cut payroll like that? When you have less employees and lower paying employees the overall store performance will drop tremendously. So the company may save a few bucks in the short run. But in the long run, there will be a little to no growth in the stock price. Why? The CUSTOMER. Customers will go to Home Depot, Ace, and those Mom&Pop hardware/construction stores. Business 101: If you want to make money, you have to spend money.

I work at Lowe’s. Morale is getting lower and lower every day. Basically a skeleton crew all day and we get in trouble for not answering other dept call buttons. How are we supposed to get those buttons if we’re alone, waiting on someone and there’s people waiting for us? I’ve looked for a different job but jobs are scarce because of covid. I was a Service agent ( car prep) at Enterprise car rental. I spent 2 years at the Totem lake location, and 10 years at the Kirkland location. Now, with the Corona Virus scare, I was laid off.i did how ever get severance pay. But I really have no regrets. It was a fun job.great people to work with, good times. Too bad it ended.
I worked as a Front End Loader for about 2 years. Not very long, I know, but one day I don’t show up to work because my schedule said I wasn’t working that day. I show up to work the next day only for my dipshit manager to tell me that I was “No longer with them” and I needed to leave. That place is a huge waste of time, and no one should ever work there under any circumstances.
Circuit City did something similar back in the day, firing a lot of their people and getting rid of comissions... how did that work out for them again?

Two raises a year, but they are usually not much more than 1% each. The quarterly bonuses are minimal as well!

I stopped going to Home Depot 15 years ago because Lowe’s was always more helpful and friendly. I absolutely hated HD and swore I would never shop there again. That is until about 2016-2017, when Lowe’s became an absolutely miserable experience every time I walked in the door. Now I only choose to go to Lowe’s to look for clearance items and get in and out as fast as possible. The employees at Lowe’s are no longer friendly and knowledgeable, they are bitter and inexperienced.
We are all bitter now because of what Marvin is doing. Literally eliminating whole sections of the store and cutting hours so much that us employees have no time to get our minor tasks done, let alone help customers. We are so short staffed is not even funny. I was literally the only employee in lumber until 4 O'clock today. I can't drive a forklift without someone spotting for me, so I couldn't load customers or drop product down for customers. Cand get a manager to help because they're all tied up just trying to manage the shitshow that Marvin has given them. I had one ASM that was running appliances, plumbing paint, and helping at the registers all day today. He was calling for help but we are so short staffed that there's nothing any of us can do. Marvin is dragging this place into the ground. I use to love working at lowes
We also had stopped shopping at HD because of some bad experiences. Then Lowe’s best customer associates were just gone and the newer ones are less than helpful because they just don’t know much of anything. So we have gone back to HD and also only go to Lowe’s when it is absolutely necessary. The Lowe’s store in our area was always crowded before all this happened,.
In 1999 the Lowe's family sold out. From the time on Lowe's has been going down hill slowly. After 21 years I finally gave up and quit. Thank you for what you are doing.

My husband remarked on this at least two years ago. The most helpful associates are gone, the most knowledgeable are gone, and so you had better know exactly what you want!! The newer employees may act like they know how to help you but will send you to the wrong aisle, where the item that you want is NOT there.
I haven't been a part of the workforce for many years, but as a customer, I appreciate a good salesperson. Some of the new employees don't even know how to put your groceries in a bag correctly. When I happen to get one that does, I let them know how much I appreciate them. You are doing an excellent job steering me away from stores that mistreat their employees and to spend my money at stores that treat their employees good.

I sold my Lowe's stock after they fired me. That was 6 years ago. Last year I called the store to check on my old colleagues and everyone was gone except one in millwork. They went through 4 store manager's in 6 years.
I am a former employee, I quit two months ago. The store I worked at has gone through 3 store managers in the last two years. HR was handled at corporate and so was scheduling. The department managers were scared they were going to be let go. The associates were treated like morons. I was in sales for forty years, I retired and went to work part-time at Lowe’s. I was reprimanded for taking too much time with customers when I was actually selling other items to them. I feel sorry for the associates who had to have this crap job to feed their families. After five years I finally had enough.
When I worked at Lowes up in Texarkana, it was bad. It was all about the Lowes "family" and Lowes "culture" they ended up icing me out despite having been told I was one of their hardest working, and best work ethic. According to all of my managers, I went more than above and beyond. They claimed it was a lack of hours, but it wasn't.
I worked for a company for 23 years that had a mission statement that included the word 'shareholders'.

Jim Keeling I know. My dad had been a loyal customer until he had trouble getting a dryer he had bought. No associate kept their word, knew where the dryer was, did not have it ready to pick up when they said they did, and the manager begged for forgiveness because of the debacle. I have seen the exact same stuff happened at an auto parts chain I worked for when they implemented an overly strict minimum goals program.

When I worked for home depot when I was young as a department supervisor he was one of the main men on company updates. What a horrible time I had working working at home depot. I didn't know why he left, but now I see why this is why I took up a trade and left that shit.

I've been with Lowe's 11 years, and this past year and a half or so has been the worst I've ever seen. Not much intimidates me, however these days I go in and lay low clock out go home. People are getting fired left and right.... sad place to go to work.
Kevin Prichard I worked for them for 6 years(2006-2012). I can tell you that they really changed for the worse after the recession around 08. I wouldn’t be surprised if they had to close more stores in the future.
I never worked at Lowes but in our town, Home Depot is way more pleasant to shop because the employees are happier. That is why Home Depot is always busy and Lowes is struggling. Way to go Marvin.

I have been working for Lowe's for 1 year now, when I started it was a great place to work. All my co workers were friendly and hard-working. Over the next year, I have seen our cleaning crew fired, grill and lawn mower assemblers fired, HR fired. Everyone is talking about how their positions are expendable. We may earn less than you Marvin, but that doesn't mean you can fire people for any reason and not give them another job, that's souless. I have a hard time believing a billion dollar company can't keep these people on. Marvin you are sinking the ship.

The CEO was the JCPenney CEO until June of 2018. He started doing the same thing to JCPenney as he is doing to Lowe's. During his time at JCPenney the stock dropped down about half the value it was when he started there. He was also in charge of the United States home depot stores. But if you ask him he will tell you he was the CEO. He was not the CEO he worked under the CEO. He has been heard telling people that he wants to make Lowe's just like home depot. But people have noticed that the changes he is making is not for the better. He has actually done things in the reverse. It said that he still has a large amount of stock in home depot. Employees feel that he is trying to destroy Lowe's home improvement stores. Employees of Lowe's are in fear that one day they will go to work and the stores will be closed. A lot of the share holders for Lowe's are Lowe's employees. Like you said he is only out for himself not the employees and not the customers.

Thank god he left The Depot... he almost tanked us. “Power hours” aren’t a thing anymore. Instead we are now focused on staying in stock and my store is actually in a hiring boom.

How do the shareholders/ceo think the company is going to grow when they cut payroll like that? When you have less employees and lower paying employees the overall store performance will drop tremendously. So the company may save a few bucks in the short run. But in the long run, there will be a little to no growth in the stock price. Why? The CUSTOMER. Customers will go to Home Depot, Ace, and those Mom&Pop hardware/construction stores.
Business 101: If you want to make money, you have to spend money.

I work at Lowe’s. Morale is getting lower and lower every day. Basically a skeleton crew all day and we get in trouble for not answering other dept call buttons. How are we supposed to get those buttons if we’re alone, waiting on someone and there’s people waiting for us?
I’ve looked for a different job but jobs are scarce because of covid. Lowe’s doesn’t follow state guidelines for mask wearing because our health and safety is less important then a sale.
If I was a stock owner in Lows and this happen, I would sell all my stock because it's looks like the thing to happen before a chapter 11 bankruptcy
