    If you are unable to access the internet on the 2nd switch (router), please fill in the DNS server as well.

      Did you mean to fill in the DNS server at LAN interface to add a custom DNS server? I typed 1.1.1.1, applied changes, but the second router still doesn't have internet. Can you help me?

    Hi. I'm not sure if you remembered me commented on a different video of yours. But I finally got my mellanox cards and I installed openwrt 22.03 x86 on my i5 3570K machine, however, I will not be using it as a router. I want to make it as a wired switch only. I got mlx4-core driver installed just fine but i have IP addresses needed to be configured. I'm so confused. How do I fix this? I want to make this between PC to my file server. Both of them have a Mellanox card. (Win 10 PC has a Mellanox Connect X2) and (File server has a Mellanox Connect X3- Pro) But Openwrt i5 3570K do not see my file server at all but my PC (through RJ45 from network switch) Since Openwrt i5 3570K is currently connected to the network switch. It can see dns server and gateway but cannot see my file server.

      Hello, did you solve the problem? You can directly connect the Windows 10 PC to the File server without OpenWRT. Please create a topic on the Van Tech Corner & Friends group and share the problem, we will try to help you with that.

    Thank you for the video. How can I use the WAN port as the LAN port so that I can have an extra port and connect my main router LAN port to another routers WAN port and use it as a Switch.

    Is it possible to use SQM Cake in the switch mode?

    • @VanTechCorner
      @VanTechCorner  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It should be possible, but in this case you can only limit the throughput of the LAN interfaces.

    does this allow the router to act as a managed switch? my setup needs to have a vlan port for my iptv and im wondering if this is viable. love your vids by the way!

    I'm wanting to something really similar but, not sure if it will work. So, I have the main Asus router (Original firmware) and then I want my Netgear r8000 with custom firmware. Basically, the 2nd router would go in my room so that it would connect to my laptop via an ethernet cable. Is this possible without messing with the firmware of the first router?
    I have 'Avanced Tomato' on the Netgear router. Prior to that, I just had a tp-link portable wireless router in a similar mode (Can't remember what it was called). It's connected to my wifi, and I can plug in an ethernet cable to get internet. If I have this setup, Will the Netgear router (Now a switch I guess) Be able to connect as if I, connected to the Asus router on my internet?
    I want it to work because I need to be able to telnet into my NAS to fix things. It wont work when connected to the portable router. It only worked connected to my Asus router. Hopefully that all makes sense. ty

      Hello, you can do this.
      - Install OpenWRT on your Netgear and setup VPN server (Wireguard is the best choice). You will need to setup DDNS as well (Dynamic DNS).
      - On your primary router, configure port forwarding to forward UDP traffic to port 51820 to the Netgear (or put the Netgear router in DMZ).
      It is a long story. If you search for those keyword on my channel, you will find some guide to get started. Good luck!

    Có cách nào để chuyển cổng wan thành cổng lan, rồi cắm wan to wan ko bác.

    • @VanTechCorner
      @VanTechCorner  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bạn chỉ cần vào switch xoá VLAN thứ 2 đi và thêm port WAN vào VLAN số 1 là được. Tuy nhiên phải xem lại router có hỗ trợ không, nhiều con nó blind WAN vào CPU luôn thì không làm vậy được.

      You can do it by adding VLAN in Network - Switch. You can also upload the screenshot to any image hosting (e.g pictr.com) and I will check it. How did you setup the OpenWRT router as a switch? I see in the above connection, the modem is connected to OpenWRT's WAN port. It should be connected to the LAN port instead (unless WR940N have different VLAN for WAN and LAN by default). See the below setup, LAN port 1 is connected to the Modem, LAN port 2 is connected to the FW and LAN port 3 is for the AP. pictr.com/images/2020/09/09/71Osfr.png
