I’d suggest doing a version that eliminates the loft and instead elevates the rear bedroom to create extensive under storage - even if you gotta give up the rear door - for some full timers this would be a great solution - or to retain that rear door the back bath could be brought down to regular floor height - would be a lot of steps up and down but certainly would create an incredible amount of flexibility
I think what would be great is the bedroom under loft is turned into a multipurpose room. Put in a jack knife sofa/murphy bed and then it could be a playroom for kids or a place for guests to sleep or an office.
BEAUTIFUL!!! But this is only a dream, I would either make the loft space higher or make it a storage area (especially if you plan on living full time in it) I only say that because I have no children, and the second lower bedroom would be transported into a single bed and I'd get rid of that back door, don't know who you can trust anymore
This is amazing. Honestly I like the loft because it looks like it would be perfect for my cat to retreat to when she wants to take a nap or sit high up and watch everyone/everything from above. If I get an RV I really want to have a little area for her that belongs to her and only her. And I also would want a bedroom or office room to be converted into a pet room so I can have large enclosures set up for my birds, reptiles, and invertebrates.
Great video. Love the floor plan. Have a 2023 Avalanche 390ds for 6 months. One thing you missed is the GD has 17.5 wheel with Copper H rated tires on 7000 lb axles. Has available option to 8000 with disc brakes. Increases CCC from 1500 to 2500lbs. 390ds does not have these options. I maxed out my capacity and wished I waited for the Grand Design. I agree the loft is a waste and ours is 3 feet high. Thought we could use it for storage, but weight limit was a big issue after adding optional residential frig, washer/dryer and 3rd A/C. It appears the GD has the advantage.
I like designs that have the common bathroom situated so that you can get into and out of the bathroom without blocking off entrance/exit of someone in the bedroom like a lot of them have .
The loft would be great for storage as well as the second bedroom. Though I would want to get rid of the majority of the windows and replace them with more storage options. Also, the table would need to be both a bed and storage area.
I would start with doing a tour of the inside first. I would have subscribed if your intro was more appealing. Also I like time stamps in the video for each section so I can skip ahead to what I want to start with. Glad to give feedback!
I love your video. However, We have an Avalanche 390DS which we love. We really enjoy the added height in the loft. We’re in our early 60’s and we enjoy the added height in the loft area. We use it all the time to enjoy the view around us, especially if we’re backed up to a lake. We do miss the added height in the guest bathroom however in this model you have to walk out of the main bedroom to use the main bathroom. Not convenient if you still enjoy your spouse. ( If you know what I mean)😊. Good try Grand Design.
Hey Myles hope you're having a great day? I really love this Grand Design Solitude 391. I think in my eyes this is a high end fifth wheel. I wish that they came with 3 of the electric fireplace space heaters in them. Have one in the living room an one in each bedroom. I'm like you Myles trying to figure out where the 3rd Ac unit goes. Does the Solitude have a heat pump built in the ac units? If possible can you let me know? Your number one fan Leonard Nelson from NC.
What’s not to love this is soooooo perfect!! We LOVE OUR 2019 grand design 2970 rl hopefully one day we will own one like this. We would love to travel around country with my parents. This would be perfect!! Keep it up GD doing great things
Like my 2022 keystone 390ds better. I thought I would be jealous watching this video knowing grand design made better coaches and it being almost the same layout. To my surprise seems like they went cheap on a lot of features and missed the mark with this one. One thing I wish I had in my avalanche is the insignia 4 burner stove. You’d be surprised how many times I find myself needing an extra burner on top of the 3 on the furion. I changed out the water heater with a suburban tankless the first week I took delivery of my avalanche and it’s been amazing. Just wanted to say thanks as I purchased my Rv based on your TH-cam videos and watched them over and over while I waited for it to be built.
Love the decor, the colour on the cabinetry, also the colour of the fabric on the dining chairs and overall colour palette, very classy, love the ship lap walls. Lots of windows. I would have to upgrade that second shower though, not sure why they would skimp on style there?
I found my husband in college but looking at relationship outcomes, it makes for a more successful partnership to have similar education levels. Great convo Funky
I love this, I would get rid of the loft all together. Wish I would have waited one more year to buy, we bought a 2022 montana high country with the small bedroom and 1/2 bath in it.
Just so you know, you can get a dishwasher in any RV now by replacing the sink. There’s a sink system out there where one half is a sink and the other half is a dishwasher 👍 there’s also countertop dishwashers.
This would be perfect for me and my son. I would use the loft for storage. I'm looking for something now to live in. I wanna park it in my family's yard, and I'm new to the RV life, so I'm hoping it won't be difficult to learn.
Thanks! I can see where there could be a lot more storage. Above all the window and the tip outs and in the bedroom. There is not much where there could be a lot. Also, could you put another sofa or a dinette that makes into a bed also. There is not much comfortable seating in the living area.
I would get rid of the back door and move the toilet there. Make the shower a little deeper. Get rid of loft and mount t.v. on that wall make it adjustable. Create more counter space. Move fire place to other wall and create more storage space. Although, I like the dinette it's not practical. So I would remove and add more sofa space but put in left up tables so you can sit there and eat as well. Otherwise, very nice.
I would love to be on your list? We want one soon, we are just starting the look for truck and trailer. Need 2 Bedroom for sure. Love this. So nice. I live in LV, NV but I heard someone rv say that if you buy in Texas you have to take rv to texas to fix it? Not mobile RV service? Is that true? Talk soon
I like the amenities however I would ditch the back door and move the toilet away from the shower and put it where the door would be in the second bedroom. Maybe extending the shower deeper and giving more room for it. I would get rid of the loft and instead of where the tv is mount it on the wall to left with angle and give more counter space for my wife for her blender etc. dishwasher idea is great. They should have on dining table chairs instead of bench chairs that can be moved out individually. I would move the fireplace left against the wall where tv is instead of 2 seat recliner sofa have a sofa with sectional parts that can be moved around the living space and can be placed on top of the main sectional when driving. Other than that I want one if they make those changes.
As an Aussie I'm a little confused about the roofing. If the sides pop out why doesn't the roof also pop up to create more headroom in these trailers? It looks so cramped and claustrophobic up there. In Oz RVs have roofs that pop up for loft beds, airflow, light etc. Are they illegal in the US or something? Seems like such a logical design element to include.
Looking at this RV and all looks beautiful, but does everything really work we don’t know that till we buy it and then if there’s a problem we have to go back to grand design and have it fixed. I don’t feel like doing that.
it's very easy to install the slides for make the lower side to make taller. by this way you can make two bedrooms at the same side. you can close the slide to make your drive. at the roof that you put a very large terrace or barbeque place with a comfortable jakuzi.. whatelse ....
at this rv, ı think that ı can make full 4 bedrooms with slide using. elevated beds also can be more useful to create living areas. because we just use the bedrooms for sleeping. one main bedroom and adjustable 3 more rooms you can make and privacy we can get. also at the roof we have a jakuzi and a big terrace to make barbeque
Just having a thought here… concerning those loft areas that don’t have a lot of headroom… If they put extensions on the sides, then why couldn’t they design a 3-4 foot ceiling extension to go ‘up’ over that area to give more space???

D9 they offer this with a outdoor kitchen? I am very interested in a new 5th wheel with a floor plan similar having a seasonal site with kids without a outdoor kitchen unfortunately would be a deal breaker. Thank you
@@scottw2157 I have yet to see any 2 full bedroom fifth wheels coming with an outdoor kitchen. It will only be bunkhouse models that have that option right now as they build the outdoor kitchen under one of the bunk beds
I would have either smaller beds - queen in front and full in back and get rid of those head conking/elbow smacking shelves for a little wider and lower end table. Or remove them all together for a bookshelf style headboard for those of us, who need space for medical equipment or books. The ceiling in the back bedroom should be lower to allow more height in the loft. I can see kids getting trapped up there in an emergency with no room for parents to grab the kids to haul them out of there or just room to maneuver to store things. I would narrow the table and put it on a slide for it to move side to side to give more room for people to fit in the dinette. The wall and door separating the back bedroom from the bathroom should be much more sturdy for security reasons because of the back door. With the length of this trailer, that 2nd door is a must.

It’s nice but instead of the pop-up TV, they should have built the TV where you could put a built-in pantry behind it. I’ve seen that on another model. And that loft is unsafe to me because it is so narrow that the windows are too narrow to climb out of in case of a fire so if you had kids trapped up there I’m afraid that wouldn’t work. very dangerous. This loft looks VERY cramped - think you'd hit your shoulders on the roof rolling over. Way too tight for me, lol.
or just use the loft for storage ?
😂
I love it! The only thing I’d change is a lower ceiling so there would be more rooms in the loft otherwise fantastic!
Honestly I don’t see the point in the loft space other than for storage if even that. He did say it’s only 2 feet tall there.

Are you sure the other bed is a king size? On the layout at the beginning of your video it had 2 queens pictures.
How many times do you need to mention the 3rd a/c? I've counted like 17 times haha
