Great tips, the previous versions feature came in handy this morning to retrieve some info I deleted yesterday because somebody changed there mind and back again!
Perfect timing!
Thanks i was looking for this video.
How do I use the SPEAK feature on Dropbox? Or is it even available? Thanks!
Can an integrated calendar be linked to dropbox? If so, we are a non profit so looking for a free one that is compatible with DB. Thanks. :)
How I can add from iPad the app to favorite share I had before I update and. Disappear
My favourite feature is the auto share screenshot.
Ctrl+'Print Screen' takes the screenshot, puts it in a 'Screenshots' folder on dropbox and puts the link in the clipboard.
This feature is actually better than most Linux Distro's implementations of screen-grabbing (and that's saying a lot).
I'm slowly migrating away from Big Evil now (since I realised they're Big Evil). Google Drive was an easy one to kill!

Sorry Steve, I saw your face in the pause and had to do it ;)
Agggh!
Awesome video. Hey! I am a hube fan of DropBox as well as I would like to know the major differences between dropbox pro and dropbox business. Are there team sharing features in there that would be more valuable?
I should do a video on that, thanks for the suggestion.
You're welcome. I am in the middle of a big more right now and thinking of getting rid of my server and using DropBox...I have PRO right now but it's been challenging as I have a virtual team...and I was wondering how the Business edition could benefit me and my team....;-)
Awesome Video! Got a quick question if you don't mind. I have an Imac and installed dropbox on my computer. It placed the dropbox in my menu bar which I love. The only problem is that if I happen to leave my computer on, anyone can now see everything in my dropbox folder. Is there a way to set up dropbox to be password protected on my desktop like it is on my iphone? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
+Paul Henry Not sure if this helps, but here are suggestions from Dropbox. www.dropbox.com/help/1973

I understand that Google Drive can and will read your files and send you ads based on what they see. If that's the case, I will never go near Google Drive.
Thanks for the info. You provide a lot of tips that I use regularly. I am using a free version of dropbox and some of the features you mentioned hare are not available for me. :(
I think all the features are the same, but you may be finding differences in operating systems, and where the menus are.

Great explanation...thanks.
You can even do the 1st feature with folders themselves.
Steve when I go to preference , I do not find the advanced icon in order to stop saving the files in my computer and using up space.
Rosi Gastelum Look under the gear Icon, - preferences - account - selective sync.
I recently updated dropbox to an upgrade however my Ipad, Iphone and computer all say drop box is full. How do I get all to recognize this. I have receipt dsaying payment received and account upgraded?
Thank you for the tips. I have a question. I'll get multiple emails from people with multiple images (jpg) in the emails. I want to share these images with other people via Dropbox. Is there a quick way to save these images to Dropbox or do I have to download each image to my Dropbox folder?
+The Nakid Truth There is an automated systems, but I think it works ALL the time, so may not be ideal. I can't think of a way to do multiple images at once, unless your email client has a "save all" feature

First time user .. like your style ... I'll hang around.
Mel Ray Glad to hear it!
Steve, I apologize if I haven't been understandable in my comments on the comparison video. Let me try again. Strictly speaking, Dropbox and Google Drive are not very comparable. They are two different kinds of tools with some overlap (such as file versioning), Dropbox really is a backup solution, but Google Drive is not.
They both hold a copy of your file on their servers, but only Dropbox also stores a copy on you computer(s).
Google Drive replaces the local copy with a shortcut link to the (one) copy of the file on the server.
Is this making sense yet?

Good call on the multiple prefs files. I use that all the time, too. My two favorite features which you didn't mention are:
1) Public file URLs. Can't believe you never mention these. You can literally build a website with Dropbox if you want.
I use Public URLs for embedding images into Google sites. Check out www.chipp.com and see the sliders. All the code for them sits in my Dropbox folder. I just copy a new picture into the folder when I want to change a slider image (the JavaScript and HTML code for the slider is also in the folder).
2) Total offsite backup solution. I save ALL my files, of every kind,to Dropbox. If something happens to my hard drive or computer, I can get it all back. In fact I once had Carbonite AND Dropbox and had a wicked disk crash. Took me a few hours to get all my files from Dropbox onto another computer. I gave up trying to restore from Carbonite after 10 days (can't say enough how bad the Carbonite experience was).
Now, I encourage my team to use Dropbox as their "My Documents" folder. It's truly a robust, secure and effortless way to do offsite backups.
That Chipp Walters is just plain wicked cool....love that dropbox trick! david hathaway take a look at this!

"Selective sync" does not save you any of the quota on your dropbox account.
If Google Drive had automatic photo uploading as a feature on iOS, I wouldn't use Dropbox anymore.
