    This has been the most helpful video I have found hands down. I also like that you’re not adding a bunch of lame commentary which makes it even more helpful. I just can’t watch the “what’s up TH-cam, welcome back to my channel, been a while since I posted a VLOG, be sure to like comment and subscribe” blah blah blah.... thx! Going to pull my blown motor this weekend - fingers crossed!

      Honestly I have never touched a s2000 before I bought this car. but I have been a car enthusiast all my life and have been a mechanic/fabricator/machinist for years now. I have owned Hondas for the past several years and have done many swaps before. thank you for your input. I really wanted to show how easy it is to perform this kind of job and that you don't need really any special tools.

    What’s parts did you need to remove from the USDM f20c motor for it to work on the JDM motor? Did you use the JDM ecu or just your stock ecu. I’m about to do the same in my S2K and wanna make sure I have everything connected properly

    You're so good at this! Very informative. Do you have to drain the engine and trans oil?

    • @gsonperformance4506
      @gsonperformance4506  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! i guess you really dont have to drain them but i like to just incase the engine tilts to much when pulling it could run out the pcv.

    • @RolanTHUNDER
      @RolanTHUNDER 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh cool. Just wondering. So does every wiring harness in the engine bay go back to the ECU including the battery terminals?

    • @gsonperformance4506
      @gsonperformance4506  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      RolanTHUNDER the main harness gets pulled through the firewall and goes to the ecu. The battery terminals don't come out when you pull the engine. They stay in the car.

    • @RolanTHUNDER
      @RolanTHUNDER 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah I see. Pretty straightforward then. By the way, I subbed to your channel ;) Keep up the good work, you're really good at this and its good to see another hands on S2K owner caring for his S like I do for mine :D

    You don't think it be better to drop the transmission and take out the engine from the top with a hoist? It looks like it was a really tight fit

    • @gsonperformance4506
      @gsonperformance4506  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its I very tight to get the upper bell housing bolts out. to get them out you have to remove the exhaust manifold plus drop the whole front subframe just to get access to the bolts. check out my clutch install video I show how to gain access to those upper bell housing bolts.

    Hi bro, recently I just got my engine failure, I need to swap in a new F20C to my S2K. My car is an USDM s2k, so if I swap in a JDM f20c, do you think I also need to swap the ECU? Because I know that the JDM F20C compression ratio is 11.7:1, but the USDM compression ratio is 11.0:1, since the difference of the compression ratio, is the ECU tuning also different? Is it possible to use JDM ECU along with the JDM F20C?

    • @gsonperformance4506

    So I'm current pulling my F20C. So there is a 4th 10mm bolt for the heat shield for the battery(at least on ap1s) that is a bitch to get....anyone else have this problem? And the clip for the ground cable that he forgot to unbolt near the end of the video that's under a metal box is also in a terrible location....anyone gotta any tips for that? And if you dont have the coupler he has when he unbolted his driveshaft it'll be fun.....

    • @JoeC_888
      @JoeC_888 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hope you figured it out by now, but the heat shield bolt would need to be removed from the bottom. the ground cable needs some snaking but itll come out.

      For those having issues with the driveshaft Allen bolts... I heated them up with a small torch for about 20 seconds and they broke loose right away. I used an L shape Allen key cause my ratchet Allen would not fit.

  • @1tdiaudi
    @1tdiaudi 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'm not sure how many times you filmed this to make it look easy. It is not. I spent two days pulling hoses, harnesses, and unbolting components along with the driveshaft. The most difficult parts of getting the complete engine/transmission out of the vehicle (which needs the most explanation) just so happens to be where you didn't realize the camera was off.

    • @gsonperformance4506
      @gsonperformance4506  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I only had to film this once. lol I had the whole swap out and in and running in 2 days. I explained what I did when the camera was off. all I did was take the engine mounts and brackets off. to get the engine out you need to have the transmission tilted way down to get a hard enough angle. I hope this helps

    • @1tdiaudi
      @1tdiaudi 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting. The engine would not tilt enough to have it slide out as described. The engine mounts were removed to make room but our issue was in space front to back. The rear rocker cover and the front oil pan were wedged between the firewall and the brace in the front. We ended up pulling the entire oil pan off to make room and damaging the oil sump in getting the old engine out (not that it mattered as it was toast anyways). We tried pitching and rolling the engine every way we could think of without having the room to slide out.

    • @gsonperformance4506
      @gsonperformance4506  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      hmm that's weird did you used the mounting points that I did in the video to hook your chain up?

    • @1tdiaudi
      @1tdiaudi 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      We actually tried multiple. We tried a level kit at first, pulled that off and went to a chain front and aft. Then tried something similar to yours. When pitching the engine the diagonal length from rocker cover (aft) to oil pan (front) was too large to go through the space available. Ended up denting the firewall slightly and smashing some stuff on the support brace. Did you originally drop the engine down before pitching?

    • @gsonperformance4506
      @gsonperformance4506  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      1tdiaudi well that seems like that was your problem. The chain mounting points didn't let you get the angle that I was able to get with my mounting points.
