Do you mean by 'corpses' the vampires? Because if you go by what we've seen in Michael's transformation in the movie, you don't become a vampire through your own death, but rather by drinking the blood of a vampire, which turns you into a half-vampire, and then by killing a human, you become a full vampire... (At least that's how I remember it).
