Yes, I recently saw a post that they had a work day and finished another half mile section but still have two more miles to go to connect it. I will be calling Steve Barbour, the director, this week for more details as I will be going SOBO starting Oct. 15 attempting to set the overal fastest known time, so I'll probably see ya out there! If I was just thru-hiking it I would try to get through...two miles of bushwaking wouldn''t be too bad. Just have a good gps app with you so you don't get lost, but you would basically just be following the river for the final two miles. This will add approx 13-14 miles to the trail, not 10-11 like the maps show.
Holy Crap!!! You definitely push the limits! First, major flooding on your thru paddle of the Little Miami and now this. You're' gluton for punishment. LOL Thanks for sharing. -dave
Ha! Yeah definitely been having some extreme adventures lately! The most extreme is yet to come…beginning my 343 mile supported FKT Nov 7, hopefully my body will hold up. Thanks for watching Dave!
What a nightmare!! This is giving me PMT PTSD all over again, but at least we didn’t have to wade through a river on that one! Glad you got out of there in one piece!!
Gee, you brought back a lot of memories. Where am I ?, how am I going to get out before .?. glad you did not injure yourself. (hope your wife was understanding.) Jolly good hike I'd say ! Who needs all that manicured rubbish... the bushwack brings out the wild in each of us .. Thanks!!! (It was fun)
Normally what I went through would’ve been no big deal, but I went in under prepared with no provisions, except two flasks of water in my running vest, and no Garmin device, and only cell service for a few minutes on the ridge. Things could have went South really quick I did end up spraining my ankle pretty bad sliding off that Boulder and is just now finally healing for me to go on a walk today. I’m sure I’ll be back again in the future, love that area!
@@jasonwish- I was just getting ready to text you 😔 keep me informed. I have most weekends available to help, but December I go to a 6 day work week through Christmas.
Man that looks like a good treck. I have done 2 diffrent multi day backpacking trips on the John Muir trails. The Big south fork National park is one of the most under used parks in the north east. I alwaye feel alone there. Keep up the vids I always enjoy your adventures.
If I would’ve had more time, maybe I wouldn’t have lost the flags. I really wanted to see where it reconnected to the Trace but I was just out of time and provisions so had to cut it short. If you gave yourself six or seven hours or even made it an overnight I’m sure it wouldn’t be a problem. Keep in mind that it’s gonna be more than 11 miles, i’m guessing more like 14 or 15, because it doesn’t just follow the river, it often has to go up and around huge drainage areas. Thanks!
Unfortunately as of right now it is. Unless I have a miraculous recovery in the next two days it won't be happeing...I am so bummed after 1000 miles of training over 8 months.
If I would have had all day and had more provisions with me it wouldn't have been so bad but I felt a lot of pressure to get out quickly since my wife was waiting on me with no cell service.
I hope you do a fkt walk again. I remember last one you did it did a number on you I seen your feet I still don't know how you didn't with them blasters on your feet walking like that. Stay safe keep up the good work God bless.
Thanks, glad you enjoy them! And yes, the Cannon G7X mark 3 definitely has some focus issues even though its a $700 camera with a 1" sensor. I did buy a gopro 10 and should have used it that day but the audio is not as good. Its a tough combo to get great quality, stabilization, good in low light and lightweight all together.
Jason met u youtube meet up on my way out. U and general were coming in. I'm doing Appalachian trail in mid February. Trying to find frozen email or anyone that wants to go fund me. Not looking a free ride. Just love
Have you heard of any updates on the extension? I’m hoping on the trail October 18th going Nobo

glad to see you made it out, and that i'm not the only one that gets into dumb stuff on occasion :)
Ha! yeah, that was rough!
Wow man that go rough!! Good luck on your upcoming FKT. Can’t wait to follow along.
If I had more time and gear it would have been a lot more fun. The FKT may be on hold as of right now...the ankle is not healing up in time.
@@jasonwish- awe man sorry to hear that!!
That was some adventure!
For sure…not the kind of adventure I had in mind when I began!
I was wondering…. Looking forward. I’m all set and looking forward!
Hopefully my ankle will be good to go in a few days! I can’t wait to hit the trail! Looking forward to meeting you.
Great video, brought me back to being a kid, sludging thru the sludge!
Thanks for watching!

Me too! Glad I didn't actually have any real nightmares, lol! It's going to be a really nice addition once its done!
Great hike to see you do. LOL Glad you didnt get beat up too bad.
Yeah, more gear and time and I would have been just fine, thanks!

Oh Lord! My ankles hurt watching!
Ha! Unfortunately I may have to cancel the FKT, the ankle is still killing me and I can't run 😢😢

“This was a terrible idea!” Truer words were never spoken 😅
😂 I definitely underestimated how difficult it would be

It is an awesome area! It will be a great addition to the trail!
Thanks for the heads up about this... the rock formations and rock hopping looked great! grateful you got out of that bushwhacking area...
I was definitely underprepared for that. It would have been ok if had more gear and time.
I can’t wait until it’s finished. Guess I’ll have to hike the entire Trace again once it is.
Me too!
I was contemplating heading down this weekend and giving it a try. Thanks for taking a bullet for us. Great video regardless!

As tough as that was..,those rock outcrops by the river were gorgeous!!! I love the Cumberland Plateau!!!
Yes, it was a beautiful area! It will be a very nice addition to the trail once completed.
Hope your ankle injury doesn’t prevent you from setting new FKT. Good luck! Be safe!

Crap man. Really sorry to hear that.
Man that looked rough Jason! Good luck on your next FKT attempt!
Thanks Chris! It may not be happening now b/c of this darn sprained ankle not healing up in time 😢😢
I had an adrenaline rush just watching this. I've been there on a ribbon only section of the Cumberland trail. Scary situation, and not fun at all.
Yeah, I started feeling a little desperate with no supplies or cell service. Definitely went in underprepared
Dang it went from bad to worse! Glad you made it out on your own power.

I will be running more of it this time since I will have a support crew carrying everything for me.
I hope you bring a friend with you on it .
@@donniemabry1470 many friends...probably 5-6 friends and acquaintances to make this happen.
I enjoy your videos. I hope you buy a better camera soon!

Or just some support. Been my dream and my family is not supporting. I'm single no kids so. It's me
That will be an adventure of a lifetime, best of luck to you! Frozen should have his email on his TH-cam channels home page.
Amish time or English time?
Ha! Our phones couldn’t decide on which one!
