This back test leads me to think that going long rather than short after breaking the previous low would be a winning strategy, especially when there is a bigger uptrend.

I watched this entire video. I use this same strategy too. You needed to filter the entries with the 50 moving average . This will help you know when to buy and sell.
hi. I have just bought myself a very well priced Macbook pro 14, I haven't yet, unsealed, so, if I find out Macs are not good, I can still return. I am seeing most, if not all brokers offer Mac OS compatible experience, there's also an MT4 and MT5 IOS app available from Apple store to download, which has got some very good reviews, 4.8 out of 5. Have you tested and compared the experience of trading on Mac vs Windows in 2023 or 2024? Are these experiences diffrent and Mac comes worst? What about using tablets for trading? Is it better on IOS or Android? No one on YT has done a proper comparison, who knows Mac might not be that much worst. Is your experience day trading currency pairs and indicies or do you swing trade stocks?
I promise if you lose money backtesting, it would be much worse in actuality. You gotta factor in slippage, distractions, etc. -- these perfect entries/exits wouldn't be so good. Great work shining the light and these hype jobs using other people as lab rats and for financial gain. They make their money from TH-cam.

It's a good strategy. The only mistake was you didn't follow the trend. You should back test again. This time follow the trend
