We have been TTC and this is the first month I tracked my BBT so I don’t have any historical to compare to. However I’m 10 DPO and I have seen the exact first shift pattern post ovulation, followed by cover line the. increase in BBT 7 days post ovulation. I didn’t know about this second shift until watching this video and thought the dip and increase was odd but now it makes sense. Is this a good indicator of implantation or can this pattern happen for other reasons?
A sustained rise in BBT following ovulation is generally a good sign as it indicates that progesterone levels are high, which is necessary for maintaining a potential pregnancy. Continue to track your BBT for the next few days. If it remains elevated beyond your usual luteal phase length (typically 12-14 days), it could be a promising sign of early pregnancy. If you fail to conceive, your BBT will decrease before your next menstrual period.
I have a question, I track my bbt every morning I take it at the same time and I was wondering why when I woke up one morning my temp read 97.95 and then I took it again on my other side of my mouth and it read 98.15 do you always go with the first reading ? I had not moved or talked I was still laying in bed
It is hard to tell. If you found your BBT spike and have had 15-18 high temps above the coverline results without a period, this could indicate that you may be pregnant. Test for pregnancy using an Easy@Home or Premom pregnancy HCG test. The average temperature in the follicular phase is 36.2-5'. It's recommended to track it and see what's going on. Take your basal body temperature every morning before getting out of bed. If your temperature is always going low, please do not hesitate to ask your doctor for more targetted advice.
Good question! What you may be seeing in your tests is actually multiple highs rather than two peak LH tests but you can only have one ovulation every cycle. So it's important to always keep testing until you see your levels fall back down to low after you get an LH peak. To learn more about multiple peaks, I recommend checking out Nurse Linda's video - th-cam.com/video/BWJVlv4rSW4/w-d-xo.html
That is a good question, Stephanie. BBT is difficult in people who work night shifts, you do need to take your temp at the same time each day after at least 3 hours of consecutive sleep, so should find a way to stick to this as closely as possible, if you are unable to do this, you can rely on alternative methods such as ovulation tests and CM tracking in order to best predict and monitor your fertility.
I try take the bbt at 5 am in morning… sometimes I woke up by 3 - 4 30 am to go pee. Is it fine if I continue to take at 5 am in morning or will it affect the bbt
Yes, it may slightly affect your BBT readings. To get accurate readings, it requires users to keep at least 3 hours of consecutive sleep. Check out this blog for more details: premom.com/blogs/how-bbt-works-as-an-ovulation-calculator/tips-to-use-bbt-for-ovulation-calculation-basal-body-temperature?_pos=8&_sid=84df0949e&_ss=r Leyla Premom Support Team
I see fluctuations in bbt after ovulation. But It didn’t drop below cover line. Should I look for 15 consecutive highs or in total it should be 15 highs to check for pregnancy
I got peak but my bbt didn't rise next morning. If my bbt rise second next morning that's mean i ovulated previous day that between peak and rising bbt.?
If you get a peak ovulation test but your BBT doesn't rise the next morning, it might mean ovulation occurred the day before the temperature rises. Typically, BBT rises about 1-2 days after ovulation, so if your BBT rises the day after the peak, ovulation likely happens between the peak and the temperature rise.
Please reply to me first my spike on bbt chart was on CD 11 I also got opk one day before that spike. But now app changed my spike and moved on CD 14 there I got high spike but I didn't do ovulation test.
Yes! The Premom app will automtically draw your coverline once you have logged 9 consecutive temperatures in the app. 6 low temps and 3 high temps is what will get your cover line as long as the gap between the highest of the previous six temperatures and the lowest of the next three temperatures is equal or greater than 0.5ºF (0.2ºC).

I am currently 7dpo and every morning I take temp at 4:30am, today my sleep before 4:30am was disturbed and I wasn’t rested at 4:30 when I took the temp, it was 97.28 I slept again and slept very well and took temp at 7:30am and it was 97.91 Which one should I count?
Hi, When tracking basal body temperature (BBT) for ovulation prediction, it's important to take your temperature at the same time each morning after at least 3 to 4 hours of uninterrupted sleep. It's best to count the temperature taken at 7:30 am after a restful sleep, which is likely more reliable for tracking purposes.
So a while back before I understood BBT, I was not tracking it at the same time consistently. Should I delete that data? Will it affect the data it is tracking now?
You don't need to delete your prior data, but it is very important to test at the same time each day and before getting out of bed since BBT tends to be easily impacted by outside factors. In order to be sure you can easily see your shift in temperatures (BBT Spike) you should start to test around the same time each day.
Not all our BBT thermometers have Bluetooth capabilities. Make sure the thermometer you have is a smart thermometer that connects with Bluetooth. If so, you can always reach out to our team via email at Support@Premom.com for assistance.
Hi, 2 peaks in a cycle is normal and may happen to some women. It is called Multiple Peaks. In this case, it is recommended to test two more days after you see a peak, until you are sure you’ve seen all of the peaks and the final decline. Thank you for this video! So, my BBT rise 24hrs after my peak and stayed that way. So, can I assume that I peaked and ovulated in the same day?
