I was a part of the original lot of families who filled every house in Bishopmill Road , Bishopmill Place and the two houses on Ryehill Road whichwere considered part of the Bishopmill community. Naturally, no one knew anyone else but that soon changed and a Bishopmill Parent` Association was soon formed many events were soon organised. To this day, I could still tell yo the name of EVERY family in that smallcommunity. We lived at No 42.
James Barr. I can still remember 90% of the families that lived in ryeside road from the top at rye road all the way to the bottom at Wallacewell place. Also there was a guy I went to barmulloch primary with lived in the first house on the left of bishop mill road called Hanson (Alan), also a girl called wylie (lynn) stayed in the house on rye hill road on the corner of bishopmill place. Time goes by, and places change, but your memories never leave you.
James Barr. hiya James, to give you an idea of dates and ages. I attended barmulloch primary between 73/74 until 80/81 (5-11) then moved upto Albert secondary from 80/81 until 84, leaving Albert ahead of my 16th birthday because of my birth date. I fell into the early leavers category. Was working by the august of 84.
Oh how barmulloch has changed. I was born and bred on ryeside road, moved away 30yrs ago. Where have the schools barmulloch primary & st Catherine’s gone and barmulloch college. I had a friend lived in ryebank road, the other end house to the row you live in.
Hi Martin, I left Ryebank Rd in 1962 but was a regular visitor back to no.14 until June 2013 when my mother passed away.I knew the names of quite a few of the folk who lived there over the years and a couple of my brothers would have know others,What was the name of your friend at the other end of the block? The place has changed quite a lot even since I did these videos but Ryebank Rd not so much.If you are interested St Catherines Primary is still down on Rye Road, Barmulloch Primary has been demolished and there's a new housing development at the back of our house (14 Ryebank) on the site of Barmulloch college;appropriately named COLLEGE LANDS or something similar. There was a lot of stuff on a site created by a former Albert student "Reminiscences of Oldspringburn" which I think is still "live" and somebody has started a group on Facebook where a lot of the stuff off the Oldspringburn has been imported.
rednoseh10 hiya, thanks for replying. My friends name was Connor, unfortunately succumbed to devilish ways, out of our control, sadly passed away in the late 80’s. I will check that site out, just got all nostalgic when I saw an old springburn video on TH-cam. I myself left barmulloch in 91, but returned regularly until my parents passed away 1995/2001 Thanks again for the memories. Kind regards Martin.

@@jamesbarr5170We moved into Ryebank RD in late 1950.One of my best pals was David Mc Nab whose family occupied No.10 Bishopmill Road. We were a bit before your time and we knew a heck of a lot of people in Barmulloch as we delivered the Evening Times and The Citizen all over Barmulloch in the '50's. Before that I was on the Scottish Farmers milk delivery round 5.30 am - 8.00am Mon -Fri and later finish on Sunday as we did a double run with the bakery. So knew even more folks.
@@rednoseh10 Not sure how you could have been BEFORE my time as we moved there on opening day, so to speak. I remember Davy McNab. Mackie,Simpson,Haggerty and McNab were 16-10 ! Coincidentally, I , too, delivered the Times and Citizen around 1960/61.
Noisy dug at start. Tx for posting.
Looks a lot better than when i lived in it xx

@@martiboy367 An Alan Hinson lived in that house when I lived next door ! Their dog was called Frisky !

Could have been Hinson, it was 40yrs ago. Remember vaguely a dog, couldnt tell it’s name. Just remember him being a big lad.
@@martiboy367 Hello Martin. 40 years ago would suggest it was Alan Hinson but Frisky, although he reached 17 or 18, would have been long gone by then.
