I am celebrating Samhain for the first time this year. And it is wonderful to mix my celtic heritage with the norse pagan religion. Today I made an offering to thor and he has graced us with his presence in Southern California. The thunder is SO loud and beautiful.

I've been waiting for this video ever since we started getting closer to fall season and it's finally here :)
Can't say this is my favorite time of the year but it certainly is a close second to winter. It makes me feel more alive and closer to the Gods

Halloween has always been my favorite because it's a day when it's socially acceptable to play dress up at any age, okay with transformation and spooky things that are usually off limits for the other 364 days

As someone who follows the Old English/Anglo-Saxon heathen ways known as Fyrnsidu. It would have definitely been nice to have included the “Anglo-Saxon, Autumnal/winter” traditions. As they are part of Ingaevones people and we’re genetically closer to Scandinavians and their traditions. September is Hālig-mōnaþ "Holy Month" October is Winterfylleth "Winter full moon", according to Bede; because winter began on the first full moon of that month of October. November is Blōt-mōnaþ "Blót Month", "Month of Sacrifice" December is Ærra Gēola "Before Yule", or "First Yule".
    Overall great video.

@@TheWisdomOfOdin there are many similarities between Norse and Old English heathery. I mean you already know Wōden is basically Odin for the Old English. A good book to read up on if you’d like would be “The Elder Gods: The Otherworld of Early England by Stephen Pollington, or The Mead Hall: The Feasting Tradition in Anglo-Saxon England.
      You’re welcome!

See as a Floridian, Autumn is weird. It's 94 F right now, and I kid you not the only time in my life I have ever seen leaves turn brown for Autum. was at the Southern Fall Gathering this weekend. It's all green all year for us.
If anything the only thing of note weather wise is that hurricanes are more common in September.

Thank you for this ! I love fall most of all! 3 months to enjoy it ! but this year the weather has been unseasonably warm so it doesn't truly feel like fall. 😢. I start cooking more root vegetables and baking more to fatten for the winter . I also start Nalbinding warm things to wear . This year I plan on putting up cinnamon sticks and twine in sun wheel circles and bake and light up candles

Another good video Jacob. And yes, autumn is great! Though, neither Lammas or Samhain are modern inventions. Samhain is an ancient Celtic (specifically Gaelic) holiday. Lammas was a Catholic holiday (Loaf Mass), but is much older in the form of Lughnasadh, another Gaelic holiday named after Lugh (he hosted a feast and games to honour his mother).

After filming, I was putting together the info cards and saw that. 😂 that’s why I had many disclaimers I wasent claiming accuracy in that section!
And I did see All-Hallows Eve was used as a way to replace Samhain hundreds of years ago.

This is also my favorite time of the year. The cool air and the smells of the outdoors. I strap up my hiking boots, grab my walking stick and head out to the woods. There are so many in Jersey. The Pinelands for one, but Rancocas is my favorite. What better way to share my experiences with the Gods. Thank you for this wonderful video 🍻

Being from Louisiana and how we pretty much just have summer and winter, and to some it’s pretty much summer and fall in comparison to the rest of the country and world. I raise bees, and make mead. And we apiarians say it’s fall when the Goldenrod comes in. It may be 100 degrees outside but the goldenrod is a def sign of transitioning out of summer and into fall. It all rests on when the bees and nature doing their cycles.

Man, the seasons where I am (Northern California) are really weird. “Fall” starts right at about the Equinox here, when temperatures finally dip back into 2 digits. Living in a drought-prone climate, I always do an offering of thanks at the first real rain we get of the season, which usually happens mid-fall. This marks the end of fire season, so giving thanks that my house is still standing and my community has been spared of the wildfires is big. By the time we get to Halloween/Samhain, it’s still pretty warm out, but the leaves are changing colors and it’s starting to feel like it’s actually fall. This is when I do my spirit offerings (I don’t work with ancestors because they’re all pretty abusive and awful) if I do them at all. Halloween was never big for me. But the night before/the new moon before is a pretty good time to do some protective enchantments over the house and over myself, since I know the veil will be thin and want to protect myself.I do a big family gathering at thanksgiving because it’s my family’s favorite holiday, so celebrating the harvest and giving offerings to the spirits of the earth usually happen the night before, but a lot of that day is focused just on enjoying being with family and community. Fall finally ends with the first frost, usually in late november/early december. Fall never gets truly “cool and cozy” for us here, but there’s a lot of protective stuff I do in this time, both as a holdover from fire season (the browning fields period-when the grasses all dry out-to the first true rain) and as the veil gets thin around Halloween.

I'm from KY, a bit more south Central I guess. We're a little passed E-town. I wasn't even aware there were Norse pagans here, so when I recently made my shift into Norse Paganism I was a bit nervous cause I'm in a small country county, churches everywhere. So to say I'm out of place is an understatement, so it makes me a bit more relaxed to know there are others.

Out of place is okay... Paganism is not acceptable/allowed and can carry death sentences in Shariah law areas... bible thumpers are annoying but their not deadly or off the hook dangerous.
They may send hella prayers at you to convert... that’s extremely disturbing but not actually dangerous.
I lived in Malaysia and also now live wear some Sharia law is informally upheld. Like slap your face off for caring debt on your credit card.
I say this because perspective is empowering and knowing real limits, then freeing.
I no longer mind Bible thumpers. They easy to deal with and I often say God rather then gods around them... and then we can talk about Magick’s/loa/divine intervention without much hang ups...
I have a social job but can’t help be feel, look, spiritual and a bit scary to allot of others... I keep language mellow and it helps me thrive.
At least a few friends think I worship the devil. Issss ohh Kay 🐍
      😜 HAIL ODIN 🤘🏽

The problem with fall(which I hate this part of it) is that it’s cool at night and you need a coat. And in the day it’s too hot. It’s like make up your mind!! But it’s porter and bourbon time!!
    And time to make sausage.

Can you give any idea on what it could mean having an encounter with Huginn and Muninn.?! I have just recently started my journey as a norse pagan and had an encountered with 2 Ravens while out on my property this morning. I have never seen ravens on my land before so I definitely felt it was some sign from Odin.

So, many of the names are from Celtic Druidry which is not wicca, doesn't work the same way either like two different medicines. Mabon is Cymgaeg (Welsh) and comes from the name Mabonogi or Mabonogian which is what the mythological lore is called from Wales. Mabon ap Modron is a prominent figure from Welsh literature and mythology, the son of Modron . Both he and his mother were likely deities in origin, descending from a divine mother-son pair. Samhain is Irish Gaelic, also going back to Druidry.Wicca was constructed in the late 1800'2 - early 1900's by Gardnerian wicca, there are many variations of it. It is eccelctic in that it borrowed elements from many different cultural practices from around the globe. Druidry is a lot like Norse Paganism in that there is a lot to study with the myths and the archeological findings.
