in iran the celebration is called “yalda night” and it dates back to 502 BC, we gather with family to eat pomegranate and read poems from hafez by intuitively opening the book to a page that tells us what to expect during the year ahead or answers the questions we have!
My yule altar always has snow globes because yule I celebrate as the winter solstice and I celebrate Christmas too. Yule was my mom's least favorite sabbath because she had seasonal depression but she kept the season beautifully magical in her own way (like our Christmas pickle tradition or the cookies she'd make). I also put on my tree ornaments in honor of passed on pets and people we love (this includes a taxi for my husband's grandfather who drove one and flamingos for my mom).
Apart from having flu in 2018, plus visiting the USA in the same year, I have never missed a sabbat since I started this path. So here I am this year laid low again with a damned virus, but have decided to have a smaller ritual in bed. (sadly without incense and candles though I do have Yule oils for the oil diffuser. I’m not going to miss this Winter Solstice!! Happy Yule/Solstice everyone :)
This is my first Yule celebration and I couldn’t be more excited! I am having a bonfire with my fiancé and daughters. Thank you Hearth! Absolutely love your channel!
I've been celebrating Yule for about 4 years now, but this is the first year I'm actually connecting with it and understanding what people celebrated. Part of this is because I can finally practice my witchcraft without fear of getting caught, but the other, far more important is that I started having to wake up at 6 and leave the house at 6:45 almost every morning for uni. Let me tell you... walking through the dark 4/5 days a week and feeling like your descending into the underworld will make you appreciate the return of the sun much more (and understand why the people of the past did too).
Thanks for the ideas. I am a solitary witch so I usually camp outside for 3 days. I have a camp fire, meditate on intentions for the coming year and just enjoy Mother Nature. I like the idea of a yule cake. I'm gluten-free so I would probably have to make my own and of course eat it. You look gorgeous 😍 💗 💖
If you have children and are no longer with the other parent(s), celebrating the winter solstice is an ideal way of sorting out holiday timetables (while also more or less secretly sharing your witchyness with your children!) I gave up christmas years ago so that I could have a lovely solstice with all of my family together! So much better than doing a once every two year thing; especially if you have multiple children with different other parents or if your own parents/parents-in-law are clammering for your time... I thoroughly recommend! it also leaves your 25th free to do what ever you want as you've already had your own celebration! You could volonteer to help people who do miss family at that time of year...
I like the way you speak. You are serious, and to the point.yet comforting. Winter is serious, like Saturn. But can be beautiful, serene, and necessary.
I consider myself a Christian witch and am new to this. I have (and have had for years) what I call my “Earth Tree”. It has all brown/beige Earthy decor with white lights as well as Christian symbols.
I think that is awesome. I am Pagan, but I can attest that Christianity can bring just as much magic to the table as religions typically associated with magic. Prayer alone can be so powerful and there are stories in my family of answered prayers that are nothing short of incredible. I hate that there tends to be so much animosity between Christians and Pagans. Wishing you the best!
You might enjoy a book that I came across last year called, The Path of a Christian Witch by Adelina St. Clair. You may have heard of it already, however I thought I would send you this message if you have not. Blessings
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and experience. Just what I was looking for beginning my own discovery and celebration of solstice. After 50 years of Christmas, winter solstice feels so fresh and alive, even here in Hawaii.
I always have limited energy to begin with but I've really leaned into a magical practice this year and have really enjoyed it. I truly appreciate these videos, so many inspired ideas. I've recently thought about baking gingerbread cookies with the leftover molasses from last year and now I'm extra motivated to do so. So fun!! Thank you, I wish you a blessed Yuletide & Winter Solstice ❄️ 🥀🕯
I’m still in the broom closet and I’m having my family over to my house for the first time since moving from Texas to Colorado and having a baby with my partner. I’m still somewhat in the broom closet, though my family isn’t particularly religious anyway. Christmas was always celebrated as a way to bring extended family together growing up, so that much is still the same. My decorations are decidedly woodland themed, and I’ll be honoring the coming light by dressing up the light over our dining table with orange slices and pine cones. I live in the woods so I’ll be collecting pine boughs this week to bring in for greenery and swags and wreaths. I’ll also be stirring lots of love and good intentions into our feast on Xmas eve and Xmas night, and using lots of seasonal ingredients like root veggies. I was on that sourdough train back in 2020, and haven’t made any since having my baby 9 months ago, but I’ve been feeding my starter every day and hope that it is ready and active in time for next weekend. Hope everyone has a warm and bright holiday season!
I came into this video hoping to do some thing last minute but was pleasantly surprised to discover I’ve been doing yule things without noticing. I even got a reading at the beginning of the winter and have been caring for a plant and have been thinking hard about what I wan to do and learn in the coming year and figuring out how to go about it. I guess I always had witchiness within me. Thanks for your guidance over the past year. I came out of the broom closet in 2021 and your videos have helped so much
(My birthday is on Christmas btw) but I’ve always loved Winter Solstice/winter season! We just bought our first house and with a wood burning stove. I’m so excited to start a Yule Log tradition (the log I choose is sitting next to the stove - she’s beautiful). I’ve also got a sachet of herbs and spices from my massage therapist to go in our stove tea kettle steamer (and her homemade wax candles from her backyard bees)! I’m planning on making a Yule Cake with festive winter flavors depicting the 8 sabbats with powdered sugar and nutmeg on top (use a piece of paper to make a design and sprinkle on top). And a home cooked feast! We just moved here and don’t have a garden yet but we’re excited to get that started in the spring :3 I’ve got mistletoe up and lots of festive decorations. Each year we get an ornament that represents that year so I got us a “new home” one that is very cute… Put a Yule sweater on the dog. Lots of music in my household / I play the banjo and sing so we do carols :) I have also been intentional about thanking the universe/creating and saying a blessing 🥰
Thank you for this. Even when I was a practising Christian I always preferred the decoratiins fron Nature such as pine cones, holly and mistletoe. For the past few years Ive had two owl ornaments nestled in my Christmas tree. I now call it a Yule tree. I feel like ive always preferred Yule to Christmas. For the pst few months Ive been exploring Paganism and Wicca and feel really drawn to it. I think Ive always been a forest witch. I was brought up in an industrial town but always loved the countryside from a young age.Your tree loooks beautiful.
i absolutely love the way you structure your videos, you present the information in a way that’s very easy to receive🥰thank you very much for what you do
I am newer in my practice, but I have done a solitary Yule celebration conducted in silence with only candle light. I spend the longest night of the year journaling about what I have accomplished and lessons I have learned. I set intentions for the upcoming year as well. This year I plan on doing the same, with the poppet of myself I made. I think a little tea party sounds like fun! 😊
Your altar is lovely! I struggled with finding much to put on mine this year (I have a fairly large one) but I have a tea light candle holder in the shape of a big tree where I used red and green candles, a pretty horned goat that came in my witchy sub box, and all green, red, or gold crystals and stones. I am working on making some tree decorations with orange slices and empty Xmas ball decorations that I can fill with herbs with the right intentions. Thanks for all of ur ideas!
I'm getting ready for Yule but my Catholic family is trying everything to keep me in their faith but I want them to give up in attempting to reconvert me back in the church. I am trying my hardest to educate them about Yule and how it is celebrated before Christians came along and ruined everything for pagans like they always do
Thank you for all the insight and ideas! I will be hosting my 3rd annual candlelight Yule dinner. I have a few friends and family I share this with, I decorate my table with foraged decor: pine cones, evergreens, & whatever else strikes my fancy. We feast, share goals for the upcoming year, giggle and enjoy each others company!
I handmade about 80% of my gifts, knit socks, hats, sweaters, etc. I feel like it helps me better connect with the “giving spirit” to put my physical labor into a gift rather than buying it for my loved ones. I know this isn’t the case for everyone but luckily my family and my husbands family really appreciates the time and effort that goes into that. Also I have a huge family so we always have done a yankee swap for the adults and have designated gift giving to the children. It definitely minimizes the stress of getting like 28 different family members gifts.
Thanks ❤️ Love watching your lives gave me some great ideas for next Yule ( next year) Here in Australia it is our Litha season Similar to yule but with a drifferance Merry Xmas & Have a great yule xx
Thank you Hearth for the wonderful ideas for Yule! I'm currently studying Cerridwen because I feel I have been given signs to do so. I have my Yule altar and Christmas decorations ready!
Happy Yule Hearth! I did both Alter and tree. I purchased clear ornaments at dollar store and filled them with natural things to hang on my tree. Some are for protection and some are just for fun.🎄🎁 I also make jingle bell necklaces for friends and family for their protection 😊❤
Thank you for adding the Yule log info, I wanted to know more about incorporating the ashes from the previous year. I have a log set aside and plan to make a small one with candles for the table and start my yearly one this Yule! Have a Blessed Yule, Hearth!❤
Edgard Cayce was telling me,at the moment I wanted to read one of his books:'You don't need to read my books...just listen to my voice.'Me myself,I say:'Still I like Miss Hearthwitch as well ''At the same moment as I was writing those 7 words,I heard Edgard Cayce speak out the same words at the same time as me.
I'll definitely set up a Yule altar, and our Christmas (Yule) tree is going up this afternoon. I'm also making a wreath, although whether that'll be finished in time I don't know!
Thank you so much for so many good ideas!!! I’ve been rewatching your sabbat videos before each one and it’s great to have an update :). Also, your eyeshadow looks amazing x
I’ve followed your channel for years Hearth! This is my favorite Yule tips videos/ideas I will be sharping the link to it in my group of practitioners 🖤
Definitely going to make a witch's ball. I use cut yarn and thread I've saved from various crafts throughout the year. Will decorate my altar too... probably.
I do something similar to the perpetual yule log ritual, I don't always have a fireplace but I have a home protection candle I take with me from place to place, and whenever it runs down I add the leftover wax to a new candle.
Ok, you just confirmed my Yule spell! I had put something in about finding rest in the silence...I wasn't quite sure about this whole part, and then I watch this video and you said just that! I just found your channel, so I had to subscribe. The Universe will always help when we need it!!! Blessed Yule ma'am! May the coming year be filled with peace, joy, and prosperity!
Love your page and how you offer so many wonderful suggestions and alternatives if we are not able to do everything. Will be incorporating these this Yule celebration. I am new to the practice and your such a great teacher. I will indeed need to find a Yule log cake, feed my animals outside and find a hobby!
I mostly plan on making a big bowl of punch probably spike it up with holiday cheer, but imma make a bonfire, bake some yule log cakes also make some gingerbread men, im still in between of drying oranges or buy them this year since my grandmother passed on Saturday and we used to dry oranges together but now its gonna be different
Love that altar table, will be breaking out the carving tools and giving that a go 😊 also enjoyed the part about story telling, thanks for the stories. As well without knowing I did pick up a new hobby, I started wood burning by making some Yule ornaments for my home.
I’m really loving your altar!!! i just went to the store yesterday and found a little candle holder shaped like a lil green house so i am using it on mine this season:D
Blessed be Lady Hearth. Love, light and the happiest Yule to you. I thank you for all your advice and guidance on the path of magickal knowledge and wisdom. I'd still be an apprentice if not for you. I thank you with all that I am. Merry meet, your grace and best wishes. 🧙♀️🌹
Thank you for the video. Im finding the whole northern and southern hemisphere thing difficult. Also being closeted and pretty much alone in the practice. Happy yule!
I do a couple of older northern traditions such as Saint Nicholas day (Christian name I think but still) and also hanging candles in all windows (LED candles of course) to ward off the darkness. And in the first week of January my family celebrates little Christmas as well.
Love your channel and your videos. Thank you so much for all of your hard work to help, teach and inform others. I could also listen to your voice and accent for hours lol In hope you have a Fantastic Yule! Blessed Be 💚
What a wonderful video, thank you 🙏🏼 I’m intrigued by your mention of wearing colours in the bloopers. I had been wondering this during the video as I tend to wear bright colours and not sure if this is not a good idea. I don’t think it was included and I’d love to hear more about this. 🙏🏼💫
Witchy gift idea! Create a small reading of original, powerful chants (if you’re so inclined). Perhaps one chant per person, each one geared specifically to that individual’s life/interest/situation etc. Or a small collection of general chants to get anyone through the winter- or the whole year. Chants are extremely powerful for me and I think this makes a great gift, to be able to share that power with those who maybe aren’t so “poetically inclined.”
My family thinks yule or pegan ect is negative. I use woodland theme in my home. Last year it helps with winter depression. I added baby trees and plants in my room. I will add winter warmth like you suggested. Thank you🤍
I need to clean out my car. Lol im going to decorate for christmas in the back of my car. But im not sure what ill do for garland. I may have to find some free decorations.
It's been so long I don't see a hedgehog, not even traces of them! I do leave food for birds. I bought a 1kg pack of seeds for wild birds and I often leave crumbs and other little stuff I have lying around in the kitchen for my feathered neighbours.
This will be the first time I celebrate Yule. I have my traditional Christmas tree up, but I bought some Yule ornaments to add this year. I also have an owl as a tree topper. I set up my Yule altar a few weeks ago. I might start a Yule log this year, but, honestly, the cake sounds like a better option! 😉. I love your channel. I hope you have a wonderful Yule and a Merry Christmas! 🎄
this was wonderful! as for what i'm doing, it's gonna be an interesting time because i'm going to visit family for the first time in a while for yule this year and i'm still in the broom closet for the most part. my practice is usually very spontaneous to whatever i feel best represents the way i want to celebrate/approach my spellwork in the moment, but i'm thinking of creating a specific ritual for each of the sabbats this year and carry them on as tradition. even though i've been practicing on and off since 2016 i've always been just celebrated intuitively for the most part, but i want *something* to feel structured at least so.... the sabbats it is! already set one up for samhain (: i will be creating handmade cards that will be embroidered with some "good luck charms" for each of my family members (certain insects, plants, symbols, etc), focusing on the intention i'd like to put into each charm as i stitch them, as well as a personalized handwritten note of appreciation and sincere well wishes. i love to embody the archetype of the sabbats in small actions, or even thoughts and attitudes. reflect on how the archetype of yule (the sun will always return, even during the longest and darkest nights) applies to situations in my life at the moment. i think i will also be glad to use yule as a time to reminisce on my childhood home... definitely will do some new-year divination, maybe make something for the birds, give some offerings to my favorite childhood tree, wear yule colors as often as i can and really focus on the social aspect of yule, even if my family aren't in on my practice. maybe go on a walk during the new moon (even if it'll be two days afterwards lol) with a tealight candle, sit under a tree i feel connected to and sing a yule song or two. i have very loose ideas at this point, but i know it'll all come together the day before the 21st.
I don’t do divination at every sabbath but I do have a few traditions. At Samhain I do scrying. At Yuletide I celebrate the Omen Days. I was taught to start on December 26th. The reason being is that the final day should be January 6th, King’s Day or also called the Epiphany which aligns to the following December. I use a variety of different divination methods though mostly I just look for signs in nature. At my Yule circle we all bring our spiritual items (books, tools, gemstones, etc) that we no longer use and others that we have crafted. We draw numbers and then continue picking items until we are finished. I’m lucky to have several talented artists, craftspeople, herbologist, etc in my circle.
Blessed Yule Hearth. I have made Yule balls for close friends and colleagues, adding a note explaining the meaning of the Yule/witch balls, the herbs used, what they mean, and the intention behind the gift. What you give out comes back threefold in watching reactions and reading messages of thanks. c
yule is the first full moon following the winter solstice, which is 6 jan 2023, my freind studies anglo saxon history , she also is a shamen and witch, i had no idea yule is on the first full moon following winter solstice, it lasts three days. did you know this hearth.
The English Heritage is also doing a livestream from stonehenge this year, if you would like to watch, the link is below:

I watch the stone henge and newgrane feeds on mid summer and midwinter. Love being in the comfort of my bed vs in the cold ;-D
Awesome
Ginderbread would be great for me
Would a fire pit be helpful with a Yule observance ?
I’ll be sure to tune in! Thanks for the link

The spices and scents associated with the holidays are so Yule related. Cinnamon, star anise, clove, are all healing and protected herbs.
This is my first Yule celebration and I couldn’t be more excited! I am having a bonfire with my fiancé and daughters. Thank you Hearth! Absolutely love your channel!
This is my first yule too I upcycled an old craft paper roll for a yule log. So excited..

@@veronicadavanzo2064 This is so true, I love Christian witches. Some of the magic I've seen them use is simply amazing.
Sounds awesome! I plan to get a tree and do seasonal decor on it and leave it up year round.

This year I bought too many oranges for my summer pot - soo I’m gonna dry some slices and put them on my tree for a happy healthy home!
My birthday is the Dec 22 and I feel I have always had a very special connection to the holiday.
Thank you Hearth for the wonderful ideas for Yule! I'm currently studying Cerridwen because I feel I have been given signs to do so. I have my Yule altar and Christmas decorations ready!

Thank you so much for all your historical and modern tips. Beautifully put💜
Happy yule!
Thank you for this lovely video! It's really got me in the Yule spirit. I love your eye make-up too :)
I do a couple of older northern traditions such as Saint Nicholas day (Christian name I think but still) and also hanging candles in all windows (LED candles of course) to ward off the darkness. And in the first week of January my family celebrates little Christmas as well.
I usually invite some girl friends and I have a Yule log, a fire and we do many ceremonies. You always bring something new. Thank you! Good Yule! 🪵
Love your channel and your videos. Thank you so much for all of your hard work to help, teach and inform others. I could also listen to your voice and accent for hours lol In hope you have a Fantastic Yule! Blessed Be 💚
Greeting and Happy Yule!
What a wonderful video, thank you 🙏🏼 I’m intrigued by your mention of wearing colours in the bloopers. I had been wondering this during the video as I tend to wear bright colours and not sure if this is not a good idea. I don’t think it was included and I’d love to hear more about this. 🙏🏼💫
I think a good way to hand off the gingerbread house at the end of the season is to give it to the fae.
Fascinating. Yule is cool. Thanks for another great video, Hearth.
Excellent video! the information is so inclusive and inspirational.
Another great video as always, Hearth. I hope you’re having a blessed holiday season!
This was such a great video! 🥰❤️❤️❤️❤️
Girl your makeup is on point! ❄️💙 Beautiful!
Thank you🤍
Inspiring as alwayd! The Omen Days and Yulr Log soumd awsomr. Amf the fum lesson on Witchy Gingerbread!
An excellent video as always, and also love love love your makeup! What is that lip color?
Yay so glad you made this video!
This was very helpful, thank you, as always, for your wonderfully magickal and educational videos.
Stunning makeup!!
Great informative and entertaining video. Thank you!!
I need to clean out my car. Lol im going to decorate for christmas in the back of my car. But im not sure what ill do for garland. I may have to find some free decorations.
Oh yeah I’ve been waiting for this one!
It's been so long I don't see a hedgehog, not even traces of them! I do leave food for birds. I bought a 1kg pack of seeds for wild birds and I often leave crumbs and other little stuff I have lying around in the kitchen for my feathered neighbours.
My friends and I are planning on putting pinecones on a tree (we might paint them too)
This will be the first time I celebrate Yule. 🎄
Thank you for your fabulous videos ♥️
thanks for the good ideas! my tree is decorated as a forest Yule spirit , i´ll try an altar for this year too. Greetings from Mexico.
aaaa i literally just watched your older video on this!!! thank you!!
this was wonderful! as for what i'm doing, it's gonna be an interesting time because i'm going to visit family for the first time in a while for yule this year and i'm still in the broom closet for the most part. my practice is usually very spontaneous to whatever i feel best represents the way i want to celebrate/approach my spellwork in the moment, but i'm thinking of creating a specific ritual for each of the sabbats this year and carry them on as tradition. even though i've been practicing on and off since 2016 i've always been just celebrated intuitively for the most part, but i want *something* to feel structured at least so.... the sabbats it is! already set one up for samhain (:
i will be creating handmade cards that will be embroidered with some "good luck charms" for each of my family members (certain insects, plants, symbols, etc), focusing on the intention i'd like to put into each charm as i stitch them, as well as a personalized handwritten note of appreciation and sincere well wishes. i love to embody the archetype of the sabbats in small actions, or even thoughts and attitudes. reflect on how the archetype of yule (the sun will always return, even during the longest and darkest nights) applies to situations in my life at the moment.
i think i will also be glad to use yule as a time to reminisce on my childhood home... definitely will do some new-year divination, maybe make something for the birds, give some offerings to my favorite childhood tree, wear yule colors as often as i can and really focus on the social aspect of yule, even if my family aren't in on my practice. maybe go on a walk during the new moon (even if it'll be two days afterwards lol) with a tealight candle, sit under a tree i feel connected to and sing a yule song or two. i have very loose ideas at this point, but i know it'll all come together the day before the 21st.
✨🙂✨Hello from West Virginia in Appalachia. Your content is always helpful, informative, and interesting🌌🌝🌌
Kentucky here....this is an interesting channel...
Some very good insights!
I’m lucky to have several talented artists, craftspeople, herbologist, etc in my circle.
i use a yule log candle holder with a white tealight candle
This is a beautiful video in of itself.
Lovely video! Thank You🖤💫🤍
Great video!!! Especially the bloopers. 😂
Careful with glass baubles and crystal balls near windows. You can magnify light and start a fire.
I am doing a yule alter with a friend and putting up a yule tree both in my room
I love your channel, I'm learning so much. Thank you
Blessed Yule Hearth. I have made Yule balls for close friends and colleagues, adding a note explaining the meaning of the Yule/witch balls, the herbs used, what they mean, and the intention behind the gift. What you give out comes back threefold in watching reactions and reading messages of thanks. c
Excellent video!! Blessed Yule!! )0(
You are amazing. Keep doing you x
Me in California looking through my open window at the blue sky - hmmm not very festive. But I suppose it's nice to not be too cold.
I was waiting for this video ❤
I placed my wishes on my Yule tree
You are a joy and a treasure. I love your presentations ! Thank you💜 love and light!
