The fact that he explained why we have to divide the 3x by 3 was chef's kiss. I always didn't connect the dots that you do one operation to undo its opposite operation, that small detail was never explain to me but this video did😭💗
For this question, theres an next way which is say: You have 2/3 and they say it’s = to x/24 you can make it equivalent. So divide both denominators and use the answer you get from dividing it and multiply it by the numerator. Eg. 4/8 = 24/x. Divide the numerators and multiply that answer to the denominator. 4x6 = 24 -- -- 8x6 48
I'll do you one simpler, no need for reducing or rewriting the problem The original problem is 4/6 = x/24 so just multiply 4 * 24 then divide the result by 6 x=16 The standard name for this is a bit lackluster as it leaves out a major part of the operation. I learned it as "cross multiply and divide" which better gets the operations across to the learner as it tells you the only two things you _actually_ have to do to find your answer. This is by far the most useful math skill you will ever learn. It's the only one I still use in daily life. Usually when finding the percentage of something.
i was absent the other day from school and i was behind b/c we learned 3 methods for proportions, i was able to understand 2 but cross multiplication i could not comprehend, until i watched this video, tysm
Great! Here because “Mean Girls” the movie refers to this term. My way is exactly backwards but I can do it in my head while flying an airplane. Yes I did do 4/6= 2/3 then I divided 24 by. 3 = 8 . Then multiply 2*8 =16…>>> 16/24. Your dyslexic students might find this easier to do.
I learnt this all the way back in junior high but never knew the logic so I always ended up doing the second method, never thought of it that way so that was how cross multiplication works. My would head always hurt when our teachers just pull this off in an equation on the board LOL
im in my senior year trying to make up for a semester I failed in freshmen year but any video or method i use to solve the problem it just says its wrong and it'll show me a video, ill write down every piece of notes but still it gives me problems to solve that nothing in that video or "explanation" showed me. Very discouraging.
THANQ SO MUCH I WAS CRYING I HAD AN ASSIGNMENT AND I FORGOT IT AT HOME SO I HAD MY FRIEND SEND PICTURES OF THE QUESTIONS SO I COULD DO IT OVER THE WEEKEND CAUSE ITS DUE ON MONDAY AND I FOGOT ABOUT IT UNTILL RIGHT NOW (Sunday 11:00pm) AND THIS HELPED ME BECAUSE I ALSO FORGOT MY MATERIAL I HOPE I DID IT RIGHT BECAUSE I DIDNT REDUCE
