Buy one, use it until you have ate up your edge bevel then you come to people to like me to fix the knives that have been eaten up with pull thrus or having dents all along the edge bevel from the tap tap tap with the carbide bar.... these type units make me a lot of money a year so by all means use them!
@@EDCandLace My thoughts exactly. I'm either fixing knives that have never once been sharpened, knives that have been wrecked by pull throughs or some type of powered sharpener. I still won't tell peoplethey should use one though 😅
You can literally see metal in the v notch. Obviously it is removing steel. I mean if it's not you're really not sharpening. I could produce a far better edge on the bottom of my coffee cup. This type of sharpener is junk people
@bradbuckner9496 So is it removing steel or not? If it is, your claim is false; if it isn't removing anything, it's nothing but the equivalent of a steel. You always talk about the sharp tungsten carbide corners that are 6-10 times harder than steel and how easily it cuts it. I know for a fact from repairing knives used with gadgets like this that they absolutely remove steel; in big ugly ribbons from the secondary bevel. They also produce recurves over time and the edge they produce is just bad to begin with. Again, I could produce a better edge with the bottom of a coffee cup, a plate, a car window, a brick, sandpaper or just a plain river stone. Go ahead and insult me now because I don't like your product. That seems to be your MO
@@bradbuckner9496Also, you literally talk about profiling in this video. Please explain how that's accomplished without removing material. I'm waiting
Damn you Brad! Now i gotta get one of these in every color of course. But I'm not complaining, I love spending my hard earned money on quality. I just gotta figure out how many "stockings" I need to stuff this Christmas.. lol! Have a great one, Brad and Chase from your ol Indiana buddy Tony!
I actually use diamond and water stones and I also am ocd and particular about my knives and edges. That said, the reason I have come to love and recomend these little sharpeners is for survival and field sharpening while gutting and skinning. Then u can true everything back up when u get home. I have lots of friends that can't sharpen a knife to save their lives but after giving them these, they can at least keep their knives sharp enough to finish their task just to call me later to stone em back to a razor edge. Ain't it seriously crazy how many men out there don't know how to sharpen a knife?! Lol
@HOOSH69 I don't disagree that's a purpose for these and they have some value for that task. But field touch ups are really all these should be used for. Even in the field I have little miniature stones and strops I've made that I would rather use though. And yes, it's always amazed me how many people don't know how to maintain tools they use every day like a knife. Not just men either 😅 I went from being one of those people at around 18 to being a professional now in my late 30s, almost completely self-taught with some more recent little pointers from YT. I'm personally a big fan of Japanese water stones, I only like diamonds when the steel demands it- Maxamet, Rex 121, s90v/s110v. I just don't like the way they progressively get finer and finer until they're garbage. Water stones give you the same performance throughout the life of the stone. SiC water stones will cut just about any steel as well. I do like diamond stropping compounds though, mostly because I know it will be effective with any steel
@@bradbuckner9496 thank u! 😊 I do my best to explain these to "pros" who say they're no good. But most people think they're the best thing since scliced bread.. which they kinda are lolol

What type of carbide in this sharpener?
@@danr7777 Tungsten carbide. Like any pull through sharpener you would see at Walmart or something

Wrong. It is the shine of the side of the angle on the cutting edge. You just want it to be that way. It is not.

Mega crap in blue. Use this to sharpen shitty 440c knives.
Not a bad metal for a knife. There are better steels, but 440C makes a good knife.
440c is a great steel if heat treated right

Lets see it done with paper towels
