I have so much respect for Prince William. He's answering the questions without showing irritation because he knows people say so much bad stuff about them. At the time of this interview, he is an air ambulance pilot, which is a very impressive job, a husband, father, and working royal. I think his life seems exhausting so I don't see him as reluctant at all! He also made the comment that the Queen "hands down" more and more responsibility and that he will accept it as she continues to do so. @Artychap A duty to be with others? Is that a job description? And to understand other people? Meaning what? Honestly, some of you say the most daft things.
William handled this interview so well. Must have taken a lot of restraint to respond to some of the questions in such a classy way. I’m sure he could have pounced and made this interviewer look pretty ridiculous.
@Hannah Chap Indeed I'm sure he was gagging to pounce, he's notorious for screaming at his father and his wife, lets not even start with how he physically attacked his brother- and not for the first time.
It's so weird that he is really being questioned on his work ethic and willingness to take on royal duties. He does have a *real job* as a pilot and seems to works hard. I am not so fond of having a monarchy, but I don't think anyone can say they are lazy and don't do anything worthwhile.
The journalist has a personal beef with prince Charles and tried to get a rise out of William, he dealt with it well, he will indeed make a good king some day. check out the footage of prince Charles saying what he really thinks about the journo, funny as hell and made like Charles again :)

This interviewer absolutely shocks me. He's beyond rude. Keeps pressing William for further answers when he seems happy with the way he's elaborated and the interviewer needs to just back off. William was also trying to say that he does understand the immense duties he has lying before him but that he doesn't let them consume him and he's focused on the duties at hand, and interviewer isn't happy with those answers. Puts words in his mouth " you are thinking about it quite a lot".. I almost see him as trying to trip him up or press him past a point. Will is very level headed and didn't lower himself. Lovely guy and his bashful smile looks just like Diana's.
I noticed his smile as well. I think at times behind that smile he was thinking…”who let this joker in here to asks these stupid questions!” William had a slight smile when the interviewer brought up that he doesn’t do many royal duties but when he brought in Catherine’s name in the same context it vanished. You don’t have to be a genius to know that the interviewer crossed a line and William was not going to play that game. The more William and his family have a normal life, the better leader he is becoming. He knows what he is doing.

Hello gato His future Majesty the King Charles (George VII) will be the best king of he Commonwealth during this Century,. William is a very good boy but he is very young and he will wait the throne during many decades.
Yes. I think that is why the line of succession will be Charles, no abdication in favour of William. The queen will want William to spend as much time with his children, as she spend her life devoting her life to royal duty. She will want William not to do the same until his children are older.
I found that journalist's tone quite repulsive and insulting actually. William has a job that involves helping people, he on the other hand has a job that is mainly involved in prying into people's lives without adding anything beneficial. He is the sort of person who could make your skin crawl. To say that William wasn't part of a normal family! He should ask himself the question; "am I normal?" Totally disrespectful....🤔
He is such a good dad and family man. Him and Catherine takes very serious care of their family and relationship. So refreshing for a monarch to actually put family and kids first.
+ Gracie C. You are correct. I admire the fact that he places his wife and children above all else. He has the right priorities. ( I think that it should be "He"' and Catherine place great care on their relationship and their children.)
@Gracie He is just workshy. They are many people his age who have children and are striving to raise the children without an army of servants, unlike William and Kate.

I hadn’t realised that Nicholas Witchell could be so insensitive - bordering on insolent! When he asked the second question it was almost as though he hadn’t listened to the answer to the first. Then to suggest that Prince William was ‘partially exempted’ from Royal Duties, was to me insinuating that he wasn’t pulling his weight. There was an edge of implied criticism to all of his questions. Well done Prince William for keeping a cool head and answering so honestly. You will make a great king.
+wyo angel The whole royal family should be behind bars and their wealth confiscated by the people for 1,200 years of pain and suffering this family has caused, the only reason these people have money is because they literally pillaged , raped, murdered , and enslaved people for the better part of a thousand years, remember it was only a couple generations ago these assholes were hanging people in the streets for not paying their taxes to the Queen
I think William & Kate would make a fantastic King and Queen but he should be able to combine both royal duties and family the royalty like a job where you have so many hours a week ie 40 hours a week, the rest dedicated to his family. It is ridiculous anyone should have their family life ruined because of a job, why should the royals suffer, the rules are archaic and should be modernised.
Too bad more people do not understand a simple fact: that this family owns an incredible amount of land, bought and inherited over many many centuries--and they give ALL the income from that land to the government. In return, the government gives them a small fraction of that annual income back, in the name of the "civil list." So the truth is, that family costs NOTHING to the taxpayers. Not a single farthing. And that family also gives great service at no charge to the country, by their work in government, work for charity, representing the country around the world, and on and on. They stay out of politics, but give their advice to the government behind the scenes, as they have the legal right to do. So give them a break! They are just people like you are!

I've never seen a reluctant royal. He is very ambitious and I think his wife is to. Leave him be to learn his role and raise his children properly. He, William, Harry and Kate, the nieces and nephews are hard workers. I respect the Queens daughter, Princess Anne who is a royal "workhorse". So if these children have learned half from the Queen, Philip and their fathers and mothers then they will do right by their vocations in the future. Give them a chance. They were lucky to have the people today who have helped them get this far. Thank God we live today in this regard. William is not king yet. And though he recognizes his status as crown prince, anyone that knows a thing or two about William is that he PERSONALLY prefers to be called WILLIAM and not HRH. In formal address, he is called HRH whether he likes it or not, but in all other cases, he PREFERS it. Obviously, interviewers from any agency especially the BBC would always ask their guests how they like to be called. For royals, HRH is standard. William is NOT the first to be interviewed. and BBC of course knows the proper protocols. So when the interviewer called him "William", it's OBVIOUS it couldn't have been a gaffe.
it depends the way you say it....with respect...maybe William told him too...not to be too formal...this was taken a while ago....things have changed since then...in more ways than one
.. Why is it's sad for Harry when he was torn to the wolves early on.......spending the time learning William the right to passage because he will be the King one day..... Put Harry in the lime light taken all the eyes off William..... Really... Ended Harry before he begin
Why?, Harry is no different from hundreds of thousands of other people who have lost their mothers at an absurdly early age. Why should we feel so so sorry for Harry? William ? Harry is on a path that has destruction written along it.. Eventually Meghan will give him the flick and he will be adrift, with alone no royal family and no one to back him
The Queen has been an exception to things, she's done nothing but work, and a king being a role model and preforming good works, is absolutely something he could do, kings once spent most of their time as soldiers, they can do so again, or as any other of the public services.

And I think Harry is a little bit unbalanced.
.. agreed..he will be a fine King..
The difference between William and Harry is overwhelming. William is so mature and well balanced, while Harry, going on 40, is like a child of 3.
its still his brother..get a grip.....
Stop it, will you?
👍🙏❤️
I agree with you. Harry comes across as a toddler throwing tantrums and wants to be viewed as a victim whereas William conducts himself with strength and dignity. William comes across as a leader whereas Harry seems more like a jealous follower.
Now that's a TRUE KING
Come across as really down to earth genuine man , tough interview and handled it perfectly ... Gunna be a great king , he's like his mum he doesnt see duty as a duty he sees it as an opportunity to be with others and to understand people from other walks of life.
When you speak next time not so Quick when you speak to him sloly and show your charm. In yen you have Princess Diana to look for soli deo gloria
@Artychap A duty to be with others? Is that a job description? And to understand other people? Meaning what? Honestly, some of you say the most daft things.
William handled this interview so well. Must have taken a lot of restraint to respond to some of the questions in such a classy way. I’m sure he could have pounced and made this interviewer look pretty ridiculous.
...yup..the interviewer is beyond rude...
@Herreguda his colleagues at the East Anglia Air Ambulance (EAAA) snitched on him to a tabloid. Turns out he was only showing up 2 days a week. When the tabloid ran the story, the palace came out to claim that his working hours were in accordance to the EAAA work regulations which expected him to work 2 days a week, and rest in between, so that he could be able to carry out royal duties. EAAA then got into the fray and denied that they had such a regulation; they expected him to do his 40 hrs a week, and how he spent the rest of his time was none of their business.
@@lekis5975 I don't remember writing my comment 6 years ago - I don't agree with my past self, haha. Thank you for the info, that's really interesting. It doesn't surprise me now that he skived off
This interviewer absolutely shocks me.
True but William will have many tough interviews like this in future. It was a good experience for him to handle unpleasant questions.
Just don't let them make you common . I really like him and he has all my support and prayers . God bless the Queen .
William will be a great king, he is a nice guy

He is a good boy
But His Highness The Prince William will wait long time because the future great King Charles (Georrge VII) will be a great monarch in all the Commonwealth many many years
marco antonio godoy the age does not help much to prince charles, is 68 years old in november
+nandofigueira2005 Blessings for you nandofigueira2005
But his mother is 90 years old woman and his father is 95 years old man, then Charles is "young", still.
Hello gato
His future Majesty the King Charles (George VII) will be the best king of he Commonwealth during this Century,.
William is a very good boy but he is very young and he will wait the throne during many decades.
But if the Queen lives as long as her mom and Charles lives to be as old as the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince William will be pretty old.
I love how modest prince William is xx
Hello Annie how're you doing today?
What a nice young man he is.
I appreciate his modesty - this is something a true king should have. And I'm slightly envious about UK being a monarchy...
The Prince has a family to raise. That's his priority now.
William reminds me so much of his mother .He has her eyes and view of bettering the world .Diana was just a couple of years too early maybe xx RIP Princess Of Wales
What ?
He doesn't remind me of her at all. He looks like his great grandfather, King George VI.
Excellent William, well spoken in your interview.
HRH the Queen has done a beautiful job in grooming William to be a useful citizen. It is very humbling to hear from him about spending quality time with his young family & assisting his father & the Queen when the need arise. Alot of Diana is in him. He is gentle & a deep thinker. l am extremely proud of him. God bless you William. You have Kate, a suit able help mate in times of needs.
He will be a great King one day. Shows humility.
Yes he does. Very classy, humble and sincere

Love prince William his so gentle the queen would of been so proud of him ❤
So proud of how much he has grown to be such an incredible future king
God Bless him.
I think Prince William would make a good King....because he is somewhat reluctant to seem ambitious to be there now.
well...maybe one day if you're still alive...you can see him after the death of his dad.
8:15 This is interesting given what Harry has just done in January 2020.
@@davebellamy4867 I suppose Harry is now irrelevnt. Was he mentioned in this interview?
Well for him to be King he would have to see the death of his Grandmother and Father, I wouldn’t be eager for them to die either.
We all love Duchess Kate and Prince William.
YES.!!! 💖💖💖💖💖👍🤗

He didn't say it in a bad way. His wording was incorrect I believe. He probably should have said that his family was not an ordinary or regular family. Just the word I think was not too great.
Hello dear
What a rude guy. William is very poised, He is a KING, already.
For Williams detractors if you took the time to study the Queen and her life you will see that William is being allowed to apprentice in the footsteps of his Father and Queen Elizabeth II.

She is actually a bit like a third house of parliament. It is "her government". She signs all Bills. She reads all State papers. She is consulted by the Prime Minister. Although she cannot refuse to sign anything passed by parliament, she has the right to be consulted and give advice and to warn. There's a bit more to it than being handed flowers and cutting ribbons.
After he thanked him, William should have replied "you may kneel down and kiss my hand".
azuremain That only happens when a new member of the Privy council is sworn in, or when a new prime minister is appointed
I found that interview hard to listen to.
The interviewer kept asking the same questions.
Williams grandmother had another six years to rule before Charles took over the throne... he doesn't want to talk about the death of his grand parents.
I could see William squirming in chair albeit managed the interview extremely well, considering..
"William, thank you very much, indeed". You don't call a future king, "William". Is that the best the BBC can do?
butterflybeatles don't think Prince William would lose much sleep over it.
Nicholas Witchell TWITchell.
it depends the way you say it....with respect...maybe William told him too...not to be too formal...this was taken a while ago....things have changed since then...in more ways than one
I guess respect as well as deference has gone out of the window...
He will be a great modern king
what an impertinent man this reporter is, doesn't respect Prince William's desire to have as normal a family life as possible while he can.
He is just doing his job
.. Williams kept saying everyone is still active, I am on the bottom now, I would like to use this time to explore my world before I have to step up to my roles more when they get older and can't be as active anymore...I was like what it is that you don't understand from his answers...the interviewer kept asking the same dang question..it is good for Williams to explore then back when this interview was done...and like Williams said there is a time for everything..and back then it was time for him to concentrate on his family while he still can because everyone is still active. ..and of course his son was still very young..let him be a child first for God sake otherwise you will have mentally unstable future King...Williams has his priorities in the right place...the interviewer not so much...thank God he is not George father...
William will be a great King!

The Queen has been an exception to things, she's done nothing but work, and a king being a role model and preforming good works, is absolutely something he could do, kings once spent most of their time as soldiers, they can do so again, or as any other of the public services.
