"We start this new decade knowing that it is the most consequential period in history," says Prince William, The Duke of Cambridge. Inspired by President John F. Kennedy's "Moonshot," he calls on everyone to rise to our greatest challenge ever: the "Earthshot." A set of ambitious objectives for the planet, the Earthshot goals seek to protect and restore nature, clean the air, revive oceans, build a waste-free world and fix the climate -- all in the next decade. To do it, we'll need people in all corners of the globe working together with urgency, creativity and the belief that it is possible to repair the Earth.

Wonderful! I can't believe this could be put forward by a person who has been reared amidst pomp and luxury and deliver such a message of emergency to all concerns of the planet, our only sweet home afire. We must know and act with wartime urgency to save ourselves without sparing time anymore and I personally feel that we will make it again in no time. We have no boundaries to do it now.

The video is very inspiring, what Prince William said is totally right, we may have advanced as a society in technology and health, but the impact we have made is huge. It´s unfair that the most vulnerable people will be harmed by the reckless actions of some unconscious people. I can assure that if we propose it, we can fix this, it is not impossible, Prince William gave the best example: The Moonshot. We can change the world, it´s in our hands. In my opinion, every little action can make a difference, like recycling, save water or plant a tree. We have no excuse not to take care of our greatest gift, our planet.

Please before you criticise William take the time to genuinely watch and listen to this and to earthshot, give it a fair chance. He never once blames consumers, like he said in this video “those who’ve done the least to cause climate change will be impacted the most”. Earthshot is inspiring and motivating, no one who has watched could criticise

100 companies are responsible for 71% of global emissions. I can agree with that he is saying but don't come for me for driving my car everyday or not recycling one bottle when you let these companies continue.
"I'm going to keep driving my truck everyday, but i want BP and Exxon to stop producing the fossil fuels I use to fuel my truck every day". You cannot get angry at companies meeting the demand you put on them while doing nothing to reduce your consumption. So nect time you think about driving to Mcdonalds, why not climb on your bike instead.

This is the stupidest sound bite that every wanna be had memorized and regurgitates on every climate related topic on the internet. First of all, the list is not even a list of all companies based on the emissions they produce. You'll find that there are no shipping, manufacturing, mining, agricultural or transportation industries mentioned there. It is simply a list of all fossil fuel producers.
Secondly, what makes your stupid soundbite even dumber is that they are not all "companies" at all. 2/3rds of the listed 71% of emissions mentioned in that statistic are from state owned corporations, or straight up state agencies (in case you didnt know that is pretty much the norm for fossil fuel production outside the west. You'd notice that most prominent private corporations on that list are from the UK, USA and AUS). The original paper that the guardian article refers to (that you probably only read the headline of, and scrolled past) even has an entire section titled "state entities".
I went Vegan overnight a few years ago, now I fix broken tech, shop 2nd hand but I can still improve by going 0 waste, growing some of my own food, shopping local and in season, utilizing solar and show others by example because words in 2020 as we know mean nothing, it's all about our actions and refusal of inaction.

Helping the planet starts on an individual level. Always try to be conscious of what you’re consuming and try to reduce waste of resources as much as possible 🙏🏼 if we all do our part we can assure a future.

Also, in order to uno-reverse the climate effect of the emissions, which are done, you would need to plant ALL the land area of the planet in trees.. in several layers of trees!

Although Prince William is telling facts, as a British person I am disappointed at the Royal Family’s greenhouse gases emissions. They use Private Jets almost everywhere and the royal residences such as Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle are extremely poor for energy efficiency.

The issue is humanity is locked into a never-ending dependence on fossil fuels. Until governments and corporations decide to release the technology that will free us from this cycle of dependence that only kills the planet and lines their pockets we can expect only more of the same.
Its a crime, that so much is being used and misused, to manipulate people into being completely cornered. To go back to pre-industrialation would take extreme worldwide devastation and compromise. The oligarchs wont let go of their death grip on money and power. Smooth words are being said in assumptive tones, to appeal to our humanity. But what is good for our world is NOT what they have in mind. They are hypocrites!! Their hypocrisy bleeds down into the least of us all in a dog eat dog world. You are right! There is no honest effective change, unless they are no longer in control. Society is far too indoctrinated to allow that. Their plan will only bring harm and undue suffering on the masses. And they know that well.
To use electric they are already digging into the ocean floor destroying so much. We need a lower population. Birth control works

Yes, we need Gaia consciousness to awaken in each of us to save the planet. But we must also remain caring, compassionate and kind to help each other in all of our struggles in reaching the goals of saving the planet. People need to cooperate, let go of hate, grudges etc and forgive the past. Chris Hadfield is a brilliant example of how people should behave. We can only do achieve this through compassion and forgiveness. Saving the planet might not only mean another shot to the moon, but given a second chance by the love of the planet she'll give you a chance to reach for the stars and beyond.

Please correct me if I get some of this wrong. I am a New Zealander. Her Majesty, The Queen, in the last 30 years corrected a whole lot of anomalies- which actually led to the classic tragedy within her family. The laws will allow the royal family to marry a Catholic, to marry a commoner, and to marry a divorcee, if required. If th oldest child is a girl she will inherit the throne. The family may have to deal with legacy of dysfunction and repair- for this generation- and i am sure it shall, But there will be much better legacy- going forward- and a great example.

Monarchy, like the one in UK, gives people a voice and a safeguard from these politicians because the Queen will speak on their behalf; for it is in their love and and trust for the Queen that the monarchy exists, thus she must work hard to earn that love and trust.
