- A Catholic priest who has tried to revolutionise sermons by using rap music and drama to attract youth to the church has been suspended. Fr Paul Ogallo has been kicked out after the Catholic Church leadership declared that his mode of dressing while singing to the congregation and the style of delivering the message went against the church's Liturgical formation. The head of Homa Bay Catholic Diocese, Bishop Phillip Anyolo saturday confirmed the suspension, but said the priest will remain a church minister even though he will not conduct roles such as administering the Holy Communion. "He is suspended from doing liturgical duties in public but he remains a Catholic priest." We could not reach the 45-year-old priest who was based in Rapogi Parish but was attached to the disciplined forces, but his colleagues said he has been suspended for one year. It was understood the church had been closely monitoring Fr Ogallo's new found style of attracting the youth and was not pleased with his dressing code. An International publication, Catholic Herald, last evening reported Fr Ogallo's suspension.

As someone that is a new Christian I was headed towards Catholicism but there are too many man made rules for me and many rules and practices go against what the Bible says. If it gets people to hear the word of god then they shouldn’t care how it is delivered as long as it isn’t in a violent manner. I would say continue doing it. If the Catholic Church excommunicates you than that doesn’t matter. Since they preach that if you feel sorry for your sins you still get into heaven even if excommunicated. No MAN speaks for god. The pope is just that. A man.

I love and appreciate the Catholic stance but one thing is very clear the priest had very good intentions and rapping(word play) is a gift from God provided the intentions are right.Let us learn to accommodate the good new order . Doctrines hazitatufikisha mbinguni bali ni yesu.

The Catholic Church is a Church of law as of charisma and the charisma is regulated by law. Every liturgical funtion must be conducted within the liturgical applicable laws for the sake of order and predictability.

Erick Vega Am sure his suspension is not coz of rapping but coz of rapping in a liturgical setting. To vest like a priest and then put something on the head in a liturgical setting is canonically very serious.
Zak Roy yes l know he made a mistake that he regrets, but it does not dicerves a suspension, l heard in a interview he acknowledged his imprudence and he knows that liturgy need to remain a liturgy. If he persists to continue committing that fault then l can agree. Anyway all we grow spiritually even helped by the injustices committed against all. My prayers for him.
Erick Vega, Any church with following across the world (with different cultures and social settings) will always have challenges from within and outside. No doubt even enemy lying in wait for twist war spoils. This is why they set up rules to help them stay in one piece. Accommodating his tendency will only cause confusion and alienation among the congregation as a whole. It could easily become a tower of Babel.
Catholic Church has suffer a kind of alienation long ago, no matter if one priest has the gift to sing rap or not. That is the perfect state of alienation., when we don’t realize and our desire to continue being the same and think we are doing God’s will. God is far from every institution and the truth can never be hold and monopolize

nani mkenya Catholics don't believe in the HOLY SPIRIT, neither do they get saved !!! It's a plain business of memorising some incantations and know what, you are invited into their inner sanctums. Nothing much about believing in hooliness and working hard to inherit the KINGDOM OF HEAVEN, but believing in ancient canonical theorems of ancient Romans. I believe it's more of a Roman Cultural congregation than a real HOUSE OF GOD where followers are taught to Worship GOD in TRUTH AND IN SPIRIT. Their so-called 'Baptism' is also a strange ritual from Vatican.
