probably wouldn’t be 999 in casual play, either, since you need 9 days in a row of the fish ponds producing nothing (and therefore redoubling), which is particularly unlikely since casual players will likely have more than one fish in there. do the steps shown at 9:23 also work for non-roe items? For example, if I wanted to duplicate cinder shards with stingray, could I set up the fish pond with "no roe, no roe, cinder shard" and get cinder shards by moving it?
Yes. Once you have information from one fish pond for your save, you can use that for any item in any fishpond. You just have to work out where in the pattern you are and go from there.
You couldn't set it up with no roe, no roe, cinder shard. The initial probing needs to use a fish pond at population 1 that doesn't have a chance of producing nothing. Stingrays can produce nothing, and so they wouldn't be a 100% reliable probe. However, once you've done the probing and know where in the rng you are you can switch in any other item. For example, what you could do: Day -2 No Roe Day -1 No Roe Day 0 Roe Days 1-20 filled up a stingray fish pond, waited to get cinder shard Day 21: Got a cinder shard! According to the pattern, on day 21 you've slept 1 time in step 5 and the fish pond should be 3 to the right. You move it there, and continue the process from there in step 5

Not a glitch, but you can double or nothing calicoJack to get billions of qi coins. Then you could trade them for stacks and stacks of farm warp totems to throw in the shipping bin for easy g. As of 1.6 you can only buy 20 items per day
I would not say it being in the code is enough to say it is not a glitch. Most glitches are based upon something being in the code. Either something unintended getting through or strange edge cases. I would say this falls into that category. When you test it you would see the output is there and test it is doubled. You wouldn't normally leave it in there and see it double again.
This seems exceedingly complicated, I dunno how this could ever happen during normal play. I've got quite a few ponds, never once have I gotten a full stack. Do you need to be on that legacy random setting thingie?
There's a couple of things that are stopping this from happening during normal play. #1: Near-Empty Fish Ponds. The chance of duplication falls the more fish that are in the fish pond; what's a 77% chance of doubling at 1 fish population lowers to a 5% chance of doubling at 10 population. So that's already a big inhibitor. Furthermore, for optimal doubling unless you're using tiger trout you need to fish out the fish every time it breeds because otherwise the chance lowers. #2: Not collecting. You need to leave the fish pond uncollected for the chance at doubling. #3: Low probability. On new RNG, there's a consistent 7% chance and on legacy RNG every 22ish days there will be a 12ish streak of doubling followed by a 10ish streak of double, not double (and reset). What is required is using legacy RNG for the pattern; there is no pattern to RNG on new RNG but on legacy there is
@@alexion3007 Ok so the pond needs to be near empty, that seems very backwards. And once I do get say a prismatic shard, I let it sit there. And yes to the old rng then? You can switch between those at will, yeah? Or is it only at new game?
@@gossamera4665 Unless you edit the save file, only on new game. Getting special items relies on full population, so you would need to leave it at 10, get a prismatic shard, then fish it down to 1. @@alexion3007 Yeah that just seems like a whole lot of work, might as well just change my name to the item number. But thank you for a detailed explanation.
I would leave it as is, but make it so if you move the pound, it will be reset the next day, still somewhat exploitable, but a fair limit, I think, and either a gamble, or a nice surprise for more casual players
i think he would have to remove it since this seems super likely to happen to any player that might forget about a fish pond for a couple days. if it was more out of the way then I could see a reason to argue to keep it
Hopefully the fix (there's no way it doesn't happen) is just a cap at 500 or something, you'd need 750 of the item to even begin infinite duplication, and the process would be harder while keeping the use cases. Also question: does leaving the stack continue to add xp or does the amount stored reset each day? Getting 90k xp to hit all 5 masteries seems REALLY funny
That would ... not really be a fix. There's a trivial fix to completely remove the duplication and I see no reason CA would simply make it harder while leaving it in. Also, XP-wise you only get xp when you harvest the last item and the amount of xp is the value of a single item, unfortunately.
This is something that can happen in casual gameplay. I can see why they would fix this. Also I 100% see this as a glitch. Due to a mistake in the code the items are doubled every day under certain conditions. Unless Concerned Ape says that was actually intentional, then that’s a glitch.
Wouldn’t be nearly as broken in casual play, though. You need 9 days in a row of the fish ponds producing nothing (and therefore redoubling), which is particularly unlikely since casual players will likely have more than one fish in there. Also it would be pretty unlikely to happen with prismatic shards on accident. Plus, casual players wouldn’t know this will happen, so they’d just pick up the whole stack at once and leave nothing to double again. So even getting, say, 64 or 128 roe only happens if a casual player skips picking up roe for several days, and just so happens to get a string of “no produce” on those days.
@@elenna1237 I don't know how BD defines glitches versus exploits, but this is a situation where a check for whether or not the player gets an item needs to fail in order for the player to get even more items than if it'd succeeded. To say with certainty that something like this is intended or unintended is always mind reading, but it'd definitely be _way_ out of step with the game's other easter eggs.

requires mastery (for golden animal crackers) so unlikely to be useful for anything but perfection% (also the mods are still debating if it’s allowed in glitchless)
You could also use the item glitch to boost yourself to mastery with books 📕 😂 “[PurpleBook]” to get book of stars which adds a small amount of xp to all skills still not requiring any mods
Oh, geez, I really hope you are serious about this. I have struggled to get even one shard and so made two ponds with rainbow trout. All I get thus far is roe. If this is genuine Im going to subscribe immediately but I fear its a joke! I don’t want to exploit this for massive gain I just want a 10% chance instead of the depressingly low percentage we currently get. Im rubbish at the combat in this game so die every trip to the skull cavern. This has locked me out of much of the late game even though I have hundreds of hours on three platforms 😏
The thing about the casino exploit is it's a lot less popular and well known than something like renaming yourself after items. It makes it feel a lot less like a fun unintended feature and more like a glitch. I wonder if that's why it was removed even though Concerned Ape usually intentionally leaves things like that in the game.
Going based on my own thought process around what the difference between the two is, my guess is it's likely a combo of accessibility and the name item ids being a lot more 'meta' than the casino. The casino being an unlimited money-maker breaks the illusion of Stardew being a real little world and reminds you that it's a video game-- plus it's something an average player could reasonably figure out, and it's very easy to do once you're aware of it. By comparison, if you're using the name id exploit, that's a very intentional decision you're going out of your way to make, and is the kind of thing where if you're doing it, it's because you /want/ to break the game and have fun messing around. Additionally, for some players- even if they don't actually use it- just knowing about something like the casino exploit can suck the fun of playing normally because doing things the 'hard' way can feel a lot less gratifying and worth it if you know that at any time you could just go and make as much money as you want. Especially when so much of Stardew's late-game revolves around making money to buy things like the obelisks, return scepter, gold clock, etc. Before the update, I was at that point in my game and I intentionally avoided learning the specifics of the casino exploit because I knew that the temptation hanging over my head would have potentially caused my enjoyment to suffer.

Honestly, blade is one of the best TH-camrs I’m subscribed too. Though I’m still wondering how he finds all the seeds that he uses in his seeded runs
He and I think one other have made seed finders which are available on several of the SDV discords. They are anything but user friendly, but do help if you can sort out how to use em
What was the glitch with the casino?
Not a glitch, but you can double or nothing calicoJack to get billions of qi coins. Then you could trade them for stacks and stacks of farm warp totems to throw in the shipping bin for easy g. As of 1.6 you can only buy 20 items per day
@@BlaDeSDV ohh ok :) i never played much with the casino. Only enough for the scarecrow. Never thought of exploiting it
Nice to hear you like animal well lol
I would recommend actually using the pattern or the predictor and not just letting it sit there, though, as with how rare prizzies are it's not a good idea to just hope.
@@alexion3007 Yeah that just seems like a whole lot of work, might as well just change my name to the item number. But thank you for a detailed explanation.
I just got irrationally excited that you uploaded!
This is incredible... Keep up the amazing work!
*exponential fish noises*
I would leave it as is, but make it so if you move the pound, it will be reset the next day, still somewhat exploitable, but a fair limit, I think, and either a gamble, or a nice surprise for more casual players
Blade post always has me hyped.
Is a farm map available to show where the ponds need to be placed for this to work?
i think he would have to remove it since this seems super likely to happen to any player that might forget about a fish pond for a couple days. if it was more out of the way then I could see a reason to argue to keep it
Hopefully the fix (there's no way it doesn't happen) is just a cap at 500 or something, you'd need 750 of the item to even begin infinite duplication, and the process would be harder while keeping the use cases.
Also question: does leaving the stack continue to add xp or does the amount stored reset each day? Getting 90k xp to hit all 5 masteries seems REALLY funny
Even at 500 you can do infinite duplication, it’s just slower (250 items a day) than it would be at 999
@@titaniadioxide6133 yeah exactly, if the exploit had a cap of 2 it'll work, but 500 is a good mix of "have to put effort into it, still get it."
That would ... not really be a fix. There's a trivial fix to completely remove the duplication and I see no reason CA would simply make it harder while leaving it in.
Also, XP-wise you only get xp when you harvest the last item and the amount of xp is the value of a single item, unfortunately.
wait so if I just remove the fish and dont predict the items or move the pond, it can still do this accidentally if I fail the check??
Did they remove dynamic seeding? I doesnt seem to work even with legacy randomisation turn on.
So even getting, say, 64 or 128 roe only happens if a casual player skips picking up roe for several days, and just so happens to get a string of “no produce” on those days.
that being said, I do agree that “no produce means double the previous day’s produce instead” is likely to be unintentional
BlaDe video BlaDe video BlaDe video BlaDe video BlaDe video BlaDe video BlaDe video BlaDe video has just hit the recommended page.
What there is disassembly of entire stardew???
I didnt quiet understand, how can I recreate it?
Blade, any ideas on how to get the purple pets in the files? The cat and dog specifically since you can just buy the turtle right now. Apparently no one figured it out yet, but you're the code goat so let us know if they're completely unobtainable. ;)
Unobtainable unfortunately
@@BlaDeSDV Oh alright, thank you sm.
Stil works? Just make fish pond ?
I was wondering why when I started my stingray ponds I was getting way too much roe
how did you got the game's source?
İs it Working on normal? Or only the legacy thing (sorry for my English)
Will this (in theory) work on console once the update is released, assuming it isn’t specifically patched? Is there a way to check what the tile will give you with the fish pond?
So switch has its own rng but as I've recently figured out clay farming on the switch I could also get a fish pond farming pattern working, but since 1.6.9 will patch it odds are very high the first console version will have this glitch patched.
still works?
Will be fixed on 1.6.9
@@BlaDeSDV thx!! Have a nice day!!!
@@BlaDeSDV Bugger. Any idea when 1.6.9 will release?
@@Porkey_Minchtoday. 😊
speedrun strat?
requires mastery (for golden animal crackers) so unlikely to be useful for anything but perfection% (also the mods are still debating if it’s allowed in glitchless)
You could also use the item glitch to boost yourself to mastery with books 📕 😂 “[PurpleBook]” to get book of stars which adds a small amount of xp to all skills still not requiring any mods
i'm absolutely devastated that this will most likely be patched long before 1.6 is released on console
Wait, did you say it does or doesn't work in 1.6.x?
It works on every 1.6 version currently released
Oh, geez, I really hope you are serious about this. I have struggled to get even one shard and so made two ponds with rainbow trout. All I get thus far is roe. If this is genuine Im going to subscribe immediately but I fear its a joke!
I don’t want to exploit this for massive gain I just want a 10% chance instead of the depressingly low percentage we currently get. Im rubbish at the combat in this game so die every trip to the skull cavern. This has locked me out of much of the late game even though I have hundreds of hours on three platforms 😏
Is it possible to do this with legendary fish now?
The patch that let you put legendary fish in the pond also fixed this tech
Thank you. Darn that would have made them so good though
How long til this gets patched lol
is this 1.6?
Well that's a fun one! nice discovery.
I LOVE video game numbers.
Ah, this code is fantastic 😅
Love seeing videos from stuff I can't access yet.... 😑
Console and mobile SV players weep.. we do.. November 4 can't come soon enough!
how to make the glitch work in phone
It was fixed on the mobile release
I mean anything in this game is broken when you use a predictor tool and peak behind the game's code.
I allow it for speedruns.
If I'm going to go through all this effort, I'll just use the CJB Item Spawner mod lol
this isnt really meant for casual play i think, mostly speedrunning id imagine
Has this been fixed?
In the patch coming out in a few days, yes
Literally today fixed haha
1.6.9 is huge
I had no idea one could animal craer a pond
oh man this is almost viable for lowpercent, if only it didnt require mastery
Wait you missed the bookseller
NEW BLADE VIDEO NEW BLADE VIDEO LETS GOOOOOO
did it get patched?
It will be patched once 1.6.9 is out, but right now it isn't out.
Did this get patched yet?
The current stardew valley version is still 1.6.8, and this works on that version (and all previous 1.6 versions)
Does it also work if you fish down to 0?
No. CurrentOccupants needs to be greater than 0
Yeah i know Ape is fine with many small exploits but this GOTTA be fixed. This kind of thing will ruin the game for many people
Well, you kinda have to do it deliberately for it to be really broken. If you just harvest your fish ponds as normal nothing like this will happen.
@@elenna1237well, as we saw in the video it does happen by accident sometimes
@@somenameidk5278 Sometimes, sure. But the true power only comes from getting a 10 fish pond reward and fishing it down to 1. If you get 128 lava eel roe (I think that's the most valuable roe) that's 40k. Not nothing, sure, but you can just chalk it down to a jackpot from the fish pond and since you're post mastery 40k isn't going to be everything
@@somenameidk5278 Sure, if you have only a small number of fish in the pond, and you don’t harvest the pond for several days in a row, sometimes you’ll randomly get 32 or 64 or 128 roe (but also pretty often you’ll just get a few roe and you’ll have lost several days worth of produce). But that’s not *that* much money, and I do think it’s pretty nice for golden animal crackers to sometimes give a big jackpot for fun.
At this point, why don't people just cheat and give themselves all the resources and prismatic shards they want? It's pretty much the same.
I can... I can give my cat some fish?
I pet it while holding fish. I didn't actually give it fish.
