      Brian Stayton I've been looking into locations in the area but there's not really large enough hills. I think the best bet is going to be to go to pennaslyvaina where they have 4000 ft mountains instead of 400 foot hills!

  • @derju1231
    @derju1231 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I think the felt you got was mainly due to thermals and not due to the wind. Maybe you could have started doing full circles once you were over the ridge. This way you could have possibly gone all the way to cloudbase :)

  • @AaronAJaeger
    @AaronAJaeger 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Mark you got a little sumtin on your lip there, maybe jelly or sumptin from lunch. Ride those thermals, you should get a Vario audio altimeter. I found schematics to make one using an Arduino (a small but powerful micro processor) and I have about half a dozen of them lying around. Gonna give it a shot. Of course it’ll work, trust me. I’m an engineer :). That paraglide looks so peaceful, rock on!

    If you don’t mind answering, what wind speed do you need to sustain altitude at launch (like early in the video where you’re staying just level with launch)? Also, how much wind speed was there for you to gain the big altitude you did toward the middle/end of the video?

    That looked awesome. Could you explain the setup for free flying vs powered for us newbies. I plan on PPG training but I have buddies who are into Free flying. I’d love to join them too at some point in the future once I’m competent enough at powered flying. Do I need a different harness/reserve setup. are the wings compatible ? Thanks for all your vids so far. Very informative. :-)

    • @MarkHuneycutt
      @MarkHuneycutt  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You have probably gotten this question answered but there are wings advertised to do both such at the Dudek Universal. You do need a different harness. If you use a front mount reserve then you can use it for both PG and PPG.
