    in the future, support for this directly on the hdzero vtxs would be awesome! Not sure how it would work technically but hopefully it's possible :)

      @AITullball3333 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It's definitely possible, and I cannot for the life of me understand why it's not there already when so many people want it.

    I'm wondering why audio transmission isn't a thing in digital systems. I'd love to use it,

  • @MariomasterNSMBHD

    Picture in picture might be cool for long range so you could install a second cam/vtx as redundancy. Or so that you can get the HD picture from stuff like walksnail and can switch to HDZero/analog when required on the fly.

    • @aphinion
      @aphinion ปีที่แล้ว +1

      pretty rad idea actually! Also for cinematic gigs, where more and more redundancy will be required in the future.

    • @lemonsquareFPV
      @lemonsquareFPV ปีที่แล้ว

      Great idea! Have digital feed fail, have an AUX pit switch the digital VTX off, while cranking analog VTX to max. Very cool!

    • @aphinion
      @aphinion ปีที่แล้ว +1

      On cinelifters etc. it could also be used for a second camera feed that's either pointing backwards or views the drone/cine-cam itself so you know what's going on with your tech up there

    This is really cool, only just got into FPV and this is next level man. Went straight into HDzero right away and I’m really enjoying it. Has its issues but the few issues it does have is so overshadowed by how flexible and feature rich it is. You guys are doing a great job there Ryan.

    how about streaming audio instead of OSD data and then generating the OSD in the goggle with the telemetry data of the CRSF/ELRS backpack?

  • @SmokeeFPV
    @SmokeeFPV ปีที่แล้ว +4

    For my interest in ground vehicle fpv, this is great. A secondary analog audio feed mixing in is pretty cool, but the potential for a picture in picture rear view feed... very cool!

    • @ballinshogunrk
      @ballinshogunrk ปีที่แล้ว +2

      rearview cam bings up another cool idea. downward or ultra wide fisheye for better situation awareness with main hd-zero as the primary camera with standard uptilt. I could see that being useful on a long range cruiser and making landing easier.

    • @RyanQuellet
      @RyanQuellet  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A secondary camera! That's a really cool idea!

  • @mcclarinscott
    @mcclarinscott ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Rearview picture in picture via analog stream, so you can see rearward traffic and move to avoid midairs. or a down facing cam for precision landings and vertical placements in tight areas...like getting into position to dive smoke stacks! or to use a claw to clutch and remove another quad stuck in a tree...

    • @RyanQuellet
      @RyanQuellet  ปีที่แล้ว

      Cool idea

    • @hristiantodorov3923
      @hristiantodorov3923 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      second cam can be head tracked

    • @mcclarinscott
      @mcclarinscott ปีที่แล้ว

      @@hristiantodorov3923 the HDZero goggle has a head tracker, you would need a servo'd mini gimbal, and havee to decide which camera gets heaf tracked, typically wings function better w a tracker than a multirotor...space for as moving gimbal w cameat is usully too tight on a multirotor, and the little gimbals are delicate...they break easy.

    I have always flown with audio, if I finally move away from analog it would certainly be something that I would miss, I wired a mic into a build that has a unify HV vtx so I can get audio, I have a build with the impulse rc osd board which has the mic and my main builds I now use the unify evo which has the mic included. Having the mic included for me is nice feature. Another system with audio options is great.

    I haven't switched to HD because I really like having audio. Like you said it's like having a video game without sound.

    No audio is such a drawback with DJI FPV V2.. I'd use a rear view camera PIP all the time for filming chase gigs too.

    I don’t need OSD, and would prefer audio. Just need a pin out of the chips and a firmware update.
    Lack of OSD wise, just fly for a minute and come in, I don’t need any other stuff for racing.
    I have been excited about synthesized audio since I heard about it. Very excited about this!!!

    I'm so happy for the goggles to be released!! Please let carl know and others thank you so much for dropping the price a little to make it possible for the ones on a tight budget to be able to get a very nice well made product!! I hope the price will stay at that for awhile. This is how fpv was and man that was a good thing to do for us💯🤜

    A new VTX is needed to support HDZero's native audio. Is it possible to bake the osd pixels into the picture and transfer the audio with the OSD data channel?

  • @nathanielakkermans
    @nathanielakkermans ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Verry cool to see audio! In the analoog times I used always audio. When switching to DJI I really missed it. Now I'm moving to hdzero because I find it nicer to fly with. But I still miss the audio. Maybe it's a idea to use the UART data stream so send digital low quality audio. It's possible to make a small mic that converts the audio to digital and send it over the osd steam. But I don't know what the datarate of that stream is, but for low quality mono audio you don't need much. I will happily give up my osd for audio, I use my radio to say my battery status. Received my hdzero goggles yesterday and looks really nice! Big step up from my old farshark HD2. Looking forward to fly with this goggle!

    • @RyanQuellet
      @RyanQuellet  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Interesting idea to send audio over UART on the VTX

  • @JoeMommaFPV

  • @seekerfpv
    @seekerfpv ปีที่แล้ว

    This definitely could help me since my experience is limited and having audio can give me extra feedback on what's going on with the quad.

  • @amin0_acid310
    @amin0_acid310 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Interesting way to add audio, but I'm with everyone else on Pic in Pic, even an analog feed for a second opinion on that tree's distance or maybe where the hell am I once in said tree? Lots of possabilities there. This system just keeps getting better and better, and winter isn't even done yet... Awesome stuff, I'm really looking forward to picking this up now, and I have a drone needing a Video solution for next summer. Happy new year!

    What power output did you set the analog vtx to? Did it seem to interfere with the hdzero range at all?

  • @mrmagoo600

    Any plans being considered to integrate a mic direct on a VTX?

  • @jaysonrees738
    @jaysonrees738 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    That's a neat workaround, but I keep wishing the digital systems just had it natively. I don't even listen to it live, but it does so much for later DVR viewing. Imagine Formula 1 and dirt rally with silent footage. It would be way less exciting.

  • @SwainixFPV
    @SwainixFPV 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Thx for the tip, did you notice any interference with the HDZ video? What channels do you run on the vtx's then?

  • @tylerelliottFPV
    @tylerelliottFPV ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I was thinking maybe a good way to get audio would be one of those RUSH AGC mics and hook it up to an onboard Runcam dvr board.

  • @rasmus80g
    @rasmus80g ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Well this is what digital is missing so far. If just any digital would include audio without this type of hack with using an second video link only to utilise the audio. (Dji v1 with wtf hack on v1 goggle can do. But since its not officially suported and old stuff im not sure it counts)

  • @dominickeen6091
    @dominickeen6091 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thats so cool! Just wondering what would happen if you flew out of the range of the lower powered vtx? And would it cause interference?

    • @SwainixFPV
      @SwainixFPV 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, that solution means 2 antennae, and 2 channels used and hoping for no interference... Idk how well that woule hold up medium/long range (where the audio really becomes useful for me)

  • @aphinion
    @aphinion ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So HDZ uses the audio-channel for telemetry/data channel? Sounds like you guys need a smart audio kind of protocol ;) Mixing the analog audio feed with the HDZ Video is a pretty pretty damn cool option on that goggle, that most of us wil use hybrid anyway. And it probably sells Mr. Steele to HDZ now :)
    I just bought some mics to experiment with audio on my Sixty9... let's see if I never wanna go back... with the drone farther away I really miss hearing my props and the delay of the sound through the air drives me slightly nuts... good to know sound will be an option in the digital world, too!

    • @RyanQuellet
      @RyanQuellet  ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha, Mr. Steele might like it for the audio aspect. Good point - would love to see him try it

    looks kinda big for just audio altho its cheap you can get a mini akk backpack vtx that has audio for $12 and is the size of a pro32 nano but better yet get 500mw pro32nano and have half a 1w for audio for long range
