Wow, i must say what a beautiful colony. And quite a good setup “despite the chaotic tubes” they also grow insanely fast great job looking forward to seeing more
congrats on a beautiful species, i like your idea of a very big outworld imagine being able to mimic their enviorment in a large box and be able to see them forming trails everywhere
@@AntHolleufer I agree I think The outworld you made looks very well done.Honestly I wouldn’t mind buying something like that for my ants. I love to take pictures and make videos of my ants But it’s difficult to do so when there’s plastic in the way. Great video as always. Great effort and dedication on your part. I think a leaf cutter colony is the dream of many ant keepers. One day, when my kids move out and I have a spare room, I will try to keep them too :)
Thanks for the tour, I hope to get leaf cutters next year so it's good to learn from others so i dont have to make the same "mistakes" i like your setup, it grows crazy fast.
Rope 1: Outer passage Rope 2: Endless thread Rope 3: Leafy Descent Just some name ideas for the ropes 😄 I'm also getting the holleufer family membership!
A great example to follow. spectacular setup. Congratulations. I am waiting for my Mexican atta and I hope it goes as well as you. How did you make them grow too well? only with tree leaves or do you give them some lettuce from the supermarket? thanks a lot 😊
interesting new intro OH you LITERALLY used the table 😂 One of the few reasons I'd like to keep Leafcutters is to make something like this, tho I'd be doomed as its 32c in the house at the moment... Too Risky Just name all it LeafCutter Highway I always wondered if they liked Hydrangea! Looks like they do! Did you know you can smoke Hydrangea? Much like weed 😂 oh and oak leaves as well? Thats good to know! I don't have much brambles or roses around here, but I do know some oaks and Hydrangea's kinda wonder if they like Vig leaves, I would doubt it as it has a certain acid moisture stuff inside, or atleast in the branches
Ahh love a good long comment! 🤩 my room is always 24 degrees. Even when it’s 35 outside like today but definitely not a option for everyone 😅 leaf wise I have no idea what I’m feeding them anymore. If they eat it they eat it 😅😆
very nice setup and great video👌, i still have a question about the last rope after the tube. How do you prevent the ants from escaping outside the hose and using the hose outside?🤔
Great video! Intro is super cringe as always but the ants make up for it :) lol. (Long tubes get dirty over time excited to see how the leaf cutters react)

That's an epic colony. I've wanted to get some plant cutter ants but they are very expensive and not endemic to my region so I have to watch them in videos haha.
Well it’s a very humid bin and that’s all they need. I filled with small easy to eat leafs and it gathers a lot of humidity and after they made a fungi they started keeping the humidity up them self 😄

Thank you! Hoping they will grow nicely into the entire setup so they can be shown even more!
Usually leaf cutters don’t grow to fast, hollefure was quite lucky and fed them very well. 🐜
@@Ants_Cambridge true but they take a little over a month to go from egg to worker, witch can be much quicker than other species.

The video was epic the setup is epic the ants are epic, Btw can we get a update on the other leaf cutters?
Thank you! And sadly there isn’t much to update on. They sadly aren’t doing that well 😓
Can’t help but wonder what stops them from climbing onto the outside of the tube? Is there a barrier there?
Yes. Just some oil.
Yeah nothing but a oil barrier 😅💀😅
@@AntHolleuferwhere do you buy it from?
hi what do you use to keep the ants from escaping from open tanks?
I d also like to know how u prevent breakouts- especially on the passage between rope and tube - please help 😊
How do you keep them from escaping where the rope attaches to the tube?
A oil barrier. So the ants can’t walk on it 😄
The ropeway

How do you feed them in winter?
With dried food or privet/bramble
Harder. But still by feeding leaves 😄
