Question of the Day 👊 What are some other Canva Tips that you know? ** Watch my Canva Playlist for more Canva tips. th-cam.com/play/PL9VPE8huwuiANoUB504xrX_lZ_aDMq-u7.html
Hi Juna, I new this trick a long time ago, but... i did not wanted to make it public because I think, canva doesn't (didn't) know about this, so they are going to flat the pdfs and then you wouldn't be able to do this any more. So now that you got the views you wanted, would be good to delete the video for the good of future designs for everyone.
When I first tried this, Affinity Designer wouldn't let me see the layers. I finally found that if I selected the images & then clicked on "Edit Document" near the top right, the layers showed up and I was able to proceed as Juna demonstrates in the video. Thanks, Juna!
Baby designer here, no formal training at all in this field so I have to google everything. This is so helpful, life changing even!!! thanks for the awesome tip!!!
Another tip came from your video about the anime T-shirt design you did in Canva. Like several others, I was disappointed I couldn't use a graphic from the Elements to pop into one of the frames. Took me a few days for it to occur to me that I could download the desired graphic as a PNG, then reupload it and then it could be inserted into a frame. So, nice simple trick in case no one else mentioned that. Loving your videos. Great info, and you have such a nice teaching style. My husband, who's a college English professor, came in on one and said, "he's a really good teacher, isn't he?". I totally agree! God Bless and Happy New Year 🙂
That is a great trick... thanks for sharing....and thanks for the comments too...coming from you and your english professor husband... that is really really special... hope you are your family have a wonder new year and beyond.
Another tip I would propose, go to elements and search for frame. You will get hundreds of frames some are free. Select the frame you like, get a photo or background you like. I usually use American flag or leopard. Drag the photo to the frame, the frame will take the photo as a background. You can adjust the positions also.
Thank you very much for this powerful and more than useful tip! Great job! Happy New Year to you and your family, with health love, peace, and creativity!
Having control of each colored element on sunsets is great, i made my changable sunsets on canva pro. I mentioned in the past that i like changing the graphics. Like the idea of changing the multiple graphic 80s you had. Not necessary for me but looks great fun. Thanks for sharing.Happy new year to you and all here.
I have started watching your videos and they are amazing! But my question is, can you do a video that shows from the beginning to the end how you can not only create a t shirt but all so how to upload it or what is the best option to print it yourself or what is the inexpensive way to get it printed if you need it by bulk, I mean It is hard to find a video that gives help on everything you need to do to complete the process.
Hi super tuto injoy all yr ideas thank y so much ❤️ please i have a question please can y tell me the name of this font you use it on yr thumbnail vedio i work on redbble and want to try it
Oh! Thank you so much for this valuable information. I tried it. This is a total game-changer for me. I am so happy, I cannot wait to create wonderful designs. Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!
That's a great tip! It would never have occurred to me to download as a PDF I was lucky to have got Affinity during their 50% off sale but it's pretty cheap anyway compared to others or subscriptions services. Looking forward to trying this tip! Thanks
Hi Juna.... I stumbled on this video and was all excited. But it's not working for me. I uploaded a png file instead of using the elements in Canva (I have Pro by the way) Downloaded it as a Pdf for Printing. Opened it up in AD 2 and there was no way I could separate it. I tried placing the document in instead of importing it....still nothing. Sigh..... Did I do this wrong or did Canva somehow stop everything? Can you check please and see? Thanks Brenda
Yes... so it only works on vector files in Canva... what probably happened was you tried to open a raster file (photo)... the way you can tell if that the artwork in Canva is a vector is that it should allow you to change colors... if it doesn't let you change colors than it's a photo and you will not be able to separate it in AD 2
This definitely changes things. Thanks Juna! Saved this video so I can find it for reference. In your opinion, is it worth the money to buy the paid version of Canva? Do you get enough extra benefits for it to be worth it for a t-shirt designer?
I honestly think it would be worth it... Canva Pro has so many designs that the FREE version does not... I'm thinking about doing it now that I know I can use those graphics easily with Affinity
But only if you planning to use it with another software like affinity designer, Canva alone not enough for tshirt designing yet, you can't change vectors color, or separate elements, outlines, cutting...and som many features are missing. I've used it wasn't enough for me. That's my thoughts about it
Yes, I did see where Canva Pro has the ability to make a png with a transparent background which is very useful to me as a card designer. I think that feature would be useful in Canva for both cards and shirts. I know I can take it to Affinity and do it but it would save a little time. And just like Juna said, you are not limited in the design elements available to you.
Can this be done with PNG images you upload to Canva, then save as the PDF? I've tried a few but they don't seem to work. I have lots of PNG images, but need them to be vectors to work in Affinity to do things like the erase feature. Still a newbie with Affinity.
Unfortunately not. PNG images can be brought into Affinity but you can not change them or click on point to make them different shapes... this will only work with PDF more specifically those graphics that you can change the colors on in Cava.
Yes... it comes with a white background on the PDF... you can just remove it in Affinity Designer... but if you downloaded the PNG file instead you would have to select the colored background and knock it out... a little more difficult.
Oh I see, Juna, thanks for the video I knew about this and it's quite useful like you've shown. I thought you'd found a way to use AD to remove backgrounds from PNGs. I guess AD are not there yet.
How would you go about importing your new design as an editable svg back to canva? I have tried all the options I could think of, I've removed stuff from the file with VsCode and nothing works. When I re-upload it to canva I can only use "edit image" and I do not have the option to change the colour. The only way I could do it was to export it as png, import it on inkscape, trace bitmap and save it as svg from there. This is far from ideal. I've searched on google but couldn't find a solution. If you have an idea on how to do that, it'd be awesome!
@@DetourShirts by editable I mean being able to change the colours. It definitely is possible because I've done it many times with inkscape. I think the problem probably comes from the importing settings in affinity but I can't figure out the way to do it to make it work. It's so annoying. I looked at the file codeof both svg and they are completely different. Too bad we can't share picture here.
The main restriction is that they can not be used by themselves.... they need to be combined with text or other graphics.... you also can't sell the graphics as a pack or individually as graphics.... You can read all about their restrictions on their website....www.canva.com/help/article/licenses-copyright-commercial-use

@@DetourShirts It doesn't work on all of them--I tested with an axolotl--but I don't think it has to have selectable colors because your sunset didn't. But it's still really effing cool, and I never would have guessed.

@@DetourShirts Yes, it should have been the right size. Maybe it's just me. I tested by making a new design in Canva in Merch dimensions. I downloaded it first as a png and that was 4500 x 5400, and then as PDF Print and again the pdf came out 3374 x 4050. I'm curious to know if that happened to you too.
