I thought that the proscution would pursue the "croneyism" angle and ask if it was the local PD's familiarity with the accused that let them allow all and sundry to mill around the crime scene. His "moral" and legal support etc. They'd still have the blood evidence, the phone, etc.

Right. Everyone was interviewed over and over again in law enforcement vehicles. Nuts. As if they wanted. the info then again they wanted to ditch the info if they felt like it later. Rogan, who is a key witness in the case said he called in to law enforcement to see if they wanted a statement from him and then they interviewed him in a cop car at a convenience shop parking lot. What?!?! Nothing was secured. The buildings adjacent were not even looked at, the house wasn't looked at until some time the next day and then it was only a cursory glance by one officer alone, guided around by Good Old Innocent Boy Brother John. The authorities never even bothered to check the victims phone until like a year later. A year later? When oops they found that Alex erased a bunch of stuff from it manually right after blowing his son's brain out of his head. They all wanted Alex to go free including this prosecutorial team and that's a fact.

I have watched a few of these over a few days and have been surprised at the number of people (friends) who wandered around the crime scene. I've investigated clinical incidents and shut people out so the environment can be examined before clean up. Protective clothing was always worn. Just being a viewer of CSI programs, I am gobsmacked that no protective boots were worn, deceased weren't covered by waterproof tents and visitors weren't evicted from the premises. This may well work in the defendant's favour. I really like this witness. It wasn't clear to me that there were only sandal prints during this testimony. The prosecutor is feeling under pressure too. No finger prints taken.

It's unfortunate that finding the real killer was not what stood out nor did they attempt to find out where any of the rest of the family was, or follow any basic forensics in technology nor physical evidence. This will cost the state of South Carolina and its people a conviction and the actual takedown of this dynasty. They got one and that's all they'll get. That is, of course, until he is granted a new trial on appeal. Watch Poot back him up and say he was ineffective counsel. This is all strategy, ladies and gentlemen.

What are your thoughts on the initial officer, coming upon the scene after the 911 call? He doesn't detain AM, he doesn't tell him to get on the ground, nothing....even after he sees two bodies on the ground. AND he states on his radio, that 'the scene is secured', and AM is still walking around. The officer also states that the deceased are 'gunshot wounds to the head'
This initial officer, supposedly, had NO IDEA what he was walking in to, if there were other shooters, other suspects, etc. The initial officer had NO IDEA, supposedly, that AM, who was standing and walking around was not armed, or a threat to HIM. Did you see the 'pat down' of AM by this officer?

Miki, there is a burden of proof in our system that belongs to the state and the state alone.
What's more, law enforcement has no duty except to preserve all the evidence. "But she TRIED" is no excuse for mishandling the crime scene and throwing possible evidence into the garbage.
The state's attorney's tactic of questioning what the witness dud early in his career vs. today is idiotic because there was much less of a need to preserve evidence since DNA testing was not as extensive as it is today.

Your never in a good position when you have to begin defense with discrediting the investigatory process. I'm almost willing to bet that his guy will get a slap on the wrist for the execution of his family just so he can further pamper his firstborn. This families corruption is deeply embedded in the entire county and possibly state. I would argue that no jury is trustworthy within that state. Judges, deputies, sheriffs and any law office is devoted to protecting first their money and then their power and lastly their family but their family non the less.

Doing my Sunday papers route. My uncle was driving me around because they were to heavy to carry. I did 3 months in a Juvenile hall before i was wrongfully found guilty . Because a women gave bad eye witness testimony and and insisted that it was me and the fat kid joey C. His parents testified that he was home all night but at the end of the day we were found guilty. I was badly beat 2 different time through all this . The 1st was by a17 year old black kid in jail over a girl that I didn't even know . I didn't even know he was mad at me until he blacken my eye . Then after i got out . I was walking home from school a few weeks later . i was in 8th grade the police pull up on me . A large man about 6'3'' 240lbs jumped out of the passenger seat of the police car . He chased me down to a dead end road by railroad tracks. He beat me badly .He broke my 2 front teeth in half . The man that beat me was the man whos property was stolen . The 3 boy stole garbage can and some lawn furniture and some kind of tent , This is was i was wrongfully imprisoned and beaten up badly 2 times. Over a garbage can and lawn furniture . what a joke . Its a long story that i tell better in person but 100% true . But there are a lot of people in jail right now that are innocent . The legal system is so expensive that a poor or working class person cant get a fair trail . That's why 98% of convictions are plea deals . sorry if my spelling is not the best , I typed this fast . I think this is a draw. Hairpoodle is as ineffective as ever and again totally disrespectful of the judge. The witness wasn't present and is not the calibre of any number of witnesses brought forth last week by the prosecution. This prosecutor is the weakest link on the state's team. He fumbles around and his line of questioning is far too aggressive... badgering a poor old man. He didn't manage to flip this witness the way the other prosecutor flipped Mark Ball. As an observer following this case very closely, my reaction to this witness was "meh". Nothing he said struck me as particularly noteworthy. He comes off a little like just another member of the good 'ole boys club. On the re-direct Hairpoodle says, "Lemme see if I can do this in under 5 minutes." Does he have a bus to catch? His demeanor is overbearingly arrogant. Disrespecting the judge every chance he gets, "I'm not finished yet". He makes me want to poke him in the eye.

The main problem is whilst police did a shoddy and bad job at the crime scene, the defendant is so unlikeable and such a bad character, his goose is more than half--way cooked. He has engaged in years of being a lying, stealing, and heartless rogue con on such a large scale, it is easy to see how the next step for him is double homicide. The reality is this appears to be a planned homicide, the dogs did not bark, and the video taken moments before the double homicide was of Alex's voice being heard in the background, and all the family members appearing calm, as there was no unknown assailant lurking in the shadows. It would have been difficult for somebody to have driven up and ambushed them on their remote property, and Alex would more than likely have been the target, and not his wife and son! It is clear as it was a planned homicide, that the one killer likely used 2 guns, to throw the cops off his scent, and make it appear there were two killers and not one at the crime scene. This expert witness is great, but can only dig so far, of the mess Alex created.

He was chomping at the bit to show the scientist was given fragmented evidence & told not to generate report. Easier to sandbag other side. My ex is attorney & used to laugh gleefully when going into trial doing this. For him it wasn't about truth, it was about winning. He lost all moral values... not long after, I didn't know the man I met anymore. He began hanging w his criminal clients, hiding payments, P.O. Boxes, currying favor & ending up w land all over. Disgusting.
