I've run these in my 4inch barreled FNP40 and gotten speeds around 2050fps which is over what the box advertises and they are really accurate for me at 15yards distance. I carry 3 magazines with me at all times but I run one mag of these and 2 mags of hand loaded 165gn jhp's n have them running at 1250fps with amazing performance.
Alaskan Ballistics it also depends the hydrostatic shock and blood loss. Imagine a man getting hit with all those fragments at one time and the energy dropping immediately. The blood loss and shredding would be terrible.
@@AlaskanBallistics That's why I shoot in the face 10X 🤣 But seriously, punching a devastating balloon in a criminal's chest will make them reconsider their life choices at least.
I think the 9x2.5 Dillion out of the 10mm Glocks but I have a good idea for a new round inspired by the 9x2.5 Dillon and 22TCM, a 10mm necked down to a .22 or .32. what do you think? If I had the ability and know how, I would try to make it. 22tcm was designed to be a smaller version of the 223 so a 10mm necked down to a 22 or 32 could be the 308 version. It would be so powerful and sought after just making the conversion barrels for it could be enough to finance the production of the gun.
The king of pistol autos still reign, 10mm. Around 2100 is where it does damage like a rifle (being locked in house for two months can't remember what it's called). I honestly don't know what to think. I know a couple of gun store workers who carry it for its weight in a sig365. Might try it out to 130 yds with the model 40 10mm.
Yes it's excellent anti personal ammo. I load it up for summer carry. It lightens the weight of the gun by a huge amount. It is deviating on flesh and follow up shots come very quick out of my .40 PX4 Storm Compact. We tested it out on some beef and pork roasts. Nasty nasty nasty.....
I use this in my 9mm EDC. Taran did a great ballistic gel manican test ... great results as well. Devistating but not an over penetrator. I doooo question the 357Sig gel result.... that doesn't add up.
@@AlaskanBallistics I like ballistics gel, but the Paul Harrel 'meat target' test, 3 years ago, set my mind at ease. There is enough penetration, even through ribs, and the insides are crippled.
I bought 2 boxes of the civil defense rounds to run through a glock 20. I was impressed with the accuracy of the round. I shot some FMJ 180gr before the civil defense and I noticed an audible difference. The civil defense rounds sounded more like a 308 than a handgun round. Great house round with added peace of mind. Also, it turned 6" of plywood into sawdust.
Yeah still penetrates a little shallow, hst and xtp also go through bones better. I'd keep some of this around though in case SHTF and people are wearing level III BODY armor
@@AlaskanBallistics Hey bro I also got some 200 grainers for my 40 for colder weather, but I hear you on the armor. They'd probably do a number on helmets too.
The faster the projectile dumps its energy into the target, the greater the terminal force. If you ever have to use your weapon defensively, over penetration should be a top of mind issue. These rounds produce devastating wound channels and the result is severe damage to any organ in either the temporary or permanent wound cavity. There are other bullets that will produce a very similar effect, but I carry all the time, and the difference between having 15+1 @ 50 grains each and 15+1 @ 124 grains each is very noticeable after several hours on the hip, or wherever you holster the weapon. They are a little pricey, but how much are the lives of your loved ones worth? You did an excellent and thorough job here, and I appreciate the time, expense and effort you put in for us. Watch your six 😎!
Only thing is that they may not penetrate a fat man like me to the vitals. Cavitation doesn't incapacitate the threat, penetration to the vitals does. The original fbi standards wanted 18" in bare gel to get 12" in a human body. That got misconstrued over the years to 12 to 18". The shallow penetration of these rounds will mean I'll never carry it personally. I'll take Underwood xtreme defenders instead. I've seen the old corbon/glaser rapidly expanding powrball rounds not penetrate a whitetail doe neck from 7ft away in .45auto. The 200gr +p speer gold dot did. Thank you for the kind comments and for watching. Godspeed and good hunting to you and yours! Thank you for the kind comment
Exactly. Paul Harrell's meat target test shows devastation. Hog and deer hunters report that the game drops in their tracks and that the internal organs are liquidized. My choice for carry ammo.
Not much penetration but a lot of kinetic energy because of the high velocity and that energy has to go somewhere - some of it is used up in fragmenting the bullet and I think a large part of it creates a shock wave that would have a devastating effect on nerves and blood vessels. The Liberty website has a video of a 10 mm round hitting a clear gel block and shows the explosive pressure wave shaking the entire block. It has about 770 ft-lbs of energy. Remember it was a light weight piece of foam at high velocity that blew a hole in the leading portion of the wing of the space shuttle that later led to its destruction on re-entry. The point being that when it comes to kinetic energy of a projectile the velocity is far more important than the weight. Thanks!
The penetration to the vitals is what actually put a bad guy or big game down. Your body isn't gelatin, the shock wave you speak of doesn't translate the same. Penetration to the vitals. Otherwise it's a gimmick
My bad nope watchin now. I've got a glock 26 And I've been carrying the 90 grain Xtreme Defender plus P plus which average is about 1450 1470 feet a second I just think about how soft lead is, I love the velocity the penetration. I've been shooting coconuts with water jugs behind him. Through the coconut four gallons of water. Also shot the HST 147 grain out of the same gun through the coconut two gallons of water
This is my favorite ammo. Been using it for a while and I'm really surprised it's not more popular. It goes through most IIIA armor and it's a hell of a lot more effective than 99% of all the other defense rounds out there. I hate 10mm for home self defense because it over penetrates. I stick with 45 ACP
I would love to see the 357 sig and .40 out of longer barrels like glock 22 4.6 and glock 35 5.3. Paul harrell did the 9mm out of a beretta 5 inch barrel and got 2117 fps, freaking smokin!
I think any of them would be good. However the best one is the one you are most comfortable with. I prefer my 10mm with Hornady self defense rounds . But that's just my preference. I carried a Glock 22 .40 for 16 years and it never let me down.
Excellent video Chuck, fun to have all the calibers together in one video. While I wouldn't want to be shot with it by any means, I wouldn't carry it either. Not enough penetration and I think fragmenting self defense hollow points are just kind of gimmicky. Thanks again brother, be blessed!
I like them all but my preferred home defense hand gun is my G20 with a six inch pipe. Wonder what kinda velocity a six inch berrel will generate with that load and how would it impact the penetration?
I have experienced cycling issues with this ammo in 9mm. I can say that I got an impressive 2700fps out of a 16"PCC. Then I had to use a dowel to drive the stuck case out. I will trust Underwood loaded XDs and G9 EHPs over this.
Interesting. 9mm HOLLOW point rounds can have toughie in pcc's because the barrel doesn't tilt like it does in a pistol. Cool speed. Would probably make the round penetrate even less though. Good call on Underwood xtreme defenders.
@@AlaskanBallistics The G9 Woodsman brings out the best in feeding issues. The TNW ASR has double feed ramps. The Woodsman gets hung up between the ramps. A little shape change to the entry of the upper ramp and now even the snake shot rounds feed smoothly.
Great video and presentation. These are similar to the Aguila IQ rounds made about 10 years ago. I have them in 9mm and .40 cal. I throw them in my SD mag with other rounds.
@@AlaskanBallistics agreed. Have a 21 round Magpul mag for my G17 with Underwood xtreme penetrators, these libertines, gold dots, hi shoks, and HSTs. I've this mix on some hogs and work quite well for close encounters.
Not only is it viable for self defense, I think for low recoil and the potential for head-shot accuracy it's hard to beat. I run this in 357 Sig in a converted G23 w 33rd mags and an MCK chassis. I also have a Roland Special G20 w 30rds of Fort Scott, for greater knockdown power with maximum penetration.
Well you need more penetration than this ammo so good for you in the fort scott. This ammo penetrating 12" in gel doesn't mean it'll penetrate 12" in the human body. More like 5 to 6 if you're lucky.
This would be devastating in a head or face shot. I bet it'd blow a head clean apart like a melon. I've seen 38 Special almost do that three times. Their skulls were in several big pieces on x-ray. if it weren't for the skin stretching and keeping it together those heads would've been blown to chunks. I have a box of the 9mm. Imma go looking for it in 357 Sig for feral hogs. 4.7 inch barrel in a P320.
Right... shooting piglets? These things don't consistently get 12" in Ballistics gel and you expect me to believe they obliterate hogs lol i wouldn't use these on stray dogs
@@AlaskanBallistics I don't have a chronograph but I shoot .40s out of a 16" barrel AR platform they gta be gettin it way more accurate than you would think too
@@AlaskanBallistics it will penetrate! It's not going to leave a through and through hole "other then the little back end of the bullet" but if someone did survive a shot from this ammo the doctors would play hell trying to get those pedals out and fixing the wound channels!! I trust it! I carry it! I personally like ammo and calibers that leave the energy in the target not just pass through, high velocity low grain like my 204 with 32 grain bullets will it kill a bear I don't want to find out but I'm guessing no!! But within 150yards I've dropped alot of deer with it obviously shot placement is key! But that little bullet goes in there pushing close to 4000 fps and explodes doesn't come out the other side tips them over everytime! I've got the 30-06 sitting there if I have to reach out and touch something 😃
These pass through car doors and other barriers without an extreme amount of penetration. It seems like it would be good for home protection for people that live close together.
Shoots flat enough for long range paper, and explosive enough for those folks that you really do not like! There's still more expensive ammo out there than this so yeah, I'd shoot it. #TenMM
Alaskan Ballistics I agree. It may not be a good bear gun, but it seems very explosive at initial impact. Many videos show about 10-12 inches of penetration which is meh. The interesting thing is there are other gun channels demonstrating ammo that has penetration through Class IIIA vests, not that I am planning on engaging people with body armor, but interesting non the less.
One factor to consider is that sig and 10 at those velocity is more than likely going to destroy or damage tissue and organs within the temporary cavity from shockwaves, something hard to detect in gel.
@@AlaskanBallistics I agree somewhat and would not choose these for edc, these burrow 2 or three inches in with that deep cavity before they expand and fragment,I think they would do well in certain circumstances.
I like this video. Thanks for putting in the work and expense. Those velocities were incredible! How much a box of the 10mm, just curious? I just loaded up a bunch of 150 gr Nosler JHP’s loaded with the maximum recommended charge of Accurate #5. I haven’t shot those yet, but I expect them to get around 12-13 inch penetration in gel, or about 3 gallon size water jugs, and nasty wound channels too, in theory of course, out of my G29. They are very economically priced too. I also made some work up loads with a bunch of RNFP-FMJ’s too. Have yet to test those as well. I hope to get 5+ gallon size water jugs of penetration with those.
Really? With that poor of penetration I'd never use it. You really want 18" in Ballistics gel to get 12" in a human being. Somehow that's got misrepresented to 12-18" in Ballistics gel is okay.
During ammo shortage, this is one brand that is consistently on the shelf. I am not a fan of hyper ammo. Have Speer Gold Dot in my Shield 40 right now, till I can find HST.
There's a video test conducted by a well known TH-camr (MAC) who shoots level 4 ceramic plates with this ammo. Due to the velocity of the rounds, they went right through the plate as if there was no plate. Then, after shooting AND DEFEATING the plate with Liberty ammo, he shot the plate with 9mm 115gr ball. As expected, the plate stopped the 115gr with minimal blackface deformation. Of course, the chrono doesn't lie. Speed is clearly a concern for ballistic panels effectiveness.
@Steve Jorgensen you are mistaken THEY ARE NOT LEVEL IV! GO CHECK YOUR FACTS! LEVEL IV STOPPED 300 WIN MAG WITH A 110GR BARNES (A TOUGHER BULLET THAN THIS) AT OVER 3900 FPS... LEVEL IV IS RIFLE RATED AND NOT PISTOL RATED. Get your facts straight. This was just as bad as Joe Biden saying that the round of an a15 will go "five times faster than any other round"... The MAC video, i support him on Patreon, was LEVEL IIIA pistol armor. Go get your facts straight. I've shot LEVEL IV armor with .22-250 and bullets going over 4000fps and they just get stopped by LEVEL IV.
I need that g29 . also i like fragmenting ammo. I've used bthp rifle rounds for hunting with similar effects and the energy dump helps those little pieces go and likely find something important
@@AlaskanBallistics im loading the 155g.. Would like to get my hands on 165/180 gold dots to load with 800x.... when you're ready to sell the G29 let me know
For self defense vs human target yes. Tons of damage without over penetrating but I still prefer my 165gn jhp's loaded to 1250fps outta my 4in barreled FNP40. But where I live n hunt black bear is a concern so when in the woods I run the extreme defender hand loaded to 1450fps in my .40 as I have tested it out vs a side of beef ribs n fat covered with a sheet of leather and fleece and a gel block behind the target with excellent penetration and damage. Enough that I trust it if needed.
At that speed, all of those rounds should’ve penetrated deeper than that, especially being a frangible bullet. That shallow of penetration and them fragmenting on impact leaves a slim chance of hitting something vital. When it comes to speed, yawing bullets are king. They have decent weight, good penetration, and wound channel, Fort Scott pistol ammo is one. Maybe within 2 feet they’ll do a good job but any distance over 5 feet I wouldn’t trust them, especially if I’m in a situation where shots are being exchanged.
"At those speeds?" Speed helps with penetration only if the bullet is designed to penetrate. At these speeds it opens up even quicker. I've shot the ft scott and I'm not impressed. It's okay. Rifle ammo was not accurate dute to not engaging the rifling. Pistol ammo easy over penetrated without as much damage.
@@AlaskanBallistics if you like them for what those goofy pellets that break apart, don’t have any weight, and fail to penetrate past the fat layer because of what theydo to ballistics gel, the same gel for every shot, which makes it too difficult to even see what round even solely created those would channels, by all means do you. I wouldn’t trust my life with any frangible bullets. These are novelty just like that RIP bs. As far as speed, I don’t know of any bullet traveling over 2000 fps that only penetrates 3 inches 😂. What would be the point? Even .22lr penetrates 10 inches which give you a better chance of hitting vital organs than these rounds. Unless you’re plinking around, who in their right mind would want a bullet that only penetrates 3 inches? Fort Scott is far superior to those liberty rounds. In .40 they penetrate 15 inches consistently, they expand like hollow points through sturdy objects, and they yaw when they hit flesh creating a wound channel similar to a .556 in .40, in 9mm similar to .45. What’s not to like about that in a self defense situation? Folks worry about over penetration too much when it’s hardly every the problem like under penetration is. Fort Scott rifle rounds not accurate? That’s laughable 😂😂😂. That was either shooting a far distance in the wind or a terrible rifle that needs zeroing. Everyone has their opinion though.
I didn't say i liked the liberty rounds. But I'll take a GOOD xtp over either. I think you totally didn't get my argument. The fort scott absolutely sucks too I've tested it
Surprised the 357Sig was faster than the 10mm, even out of a shorter barrel...it’s upsetting my justification for getting a Glock 29. Maybe I need a 32.
@@AlaskanBallistics I’m in the Deep South where thick clothing is minimal. But then bone and other factors have to be taken into consideration. But a few of those at center mass will mostly like stop a threat. I mean it is an option.
10mm is far better than 40 short and weak. The only reason there is a neutered version of the 10mm is because candy a## fbi agents couldn't handle the power of the 10mm. The 40 was developed off the 10mm. That said with modern ballistics alot of law enforcement are dumping the short and weak for 9mm. The 40 is not the ideal round it's actually a dieing round. Me personally I run a Glock 29in my everyday carry. I wouldn't run 40 when 10 is available just like I don't run 380acp when 9mm is available and for that matter 38 special when 357 magnum is available.
All these 10mm fans make me laugh. It's a hunting round. You defend yourself against anything but a wild beast, good luck proving self defense in court.
A bit disappointed with their .357 SIG. They should be able to get more energy than that. It also seems like they are using the same bullet as the 9mm when they should have a different one tuned to the higher velocity of the .357.
In a traditional hollowpoint, I would agree, but these are designed to frag, and I don't know how much it would change anything. Would love a re-test of the 357SIG
Alaskan Ballistics I have watched your videos. I would have bought 20 if the 40!did not exist. 29 is going to be an awesome edc gun and probably use it for small day hikes but the 40 for more backwoods and hunting.
I think it is crazy fast. The only thing I would be worried if it might dump it's energy to fast. That being said....It is not very far to the vitals on a human in a frontal shot. I would have to test it on a wild hog. My kinda go to free-range meat target. If it will get deep enough to kill a big boar....it should have no problem in defense👍🇺🇸
They're all accurate, That depends on the shooter. Most powerful? Depends on which ammo company are available but the most powerful .45 auto round available is 580 ft lbs, most powerful 357sig is about 560 ft lbs, and most powerful .40s&w is about 520 ft lbs though high pressured .40s&w can blow up on the shooter.
I think we owe the dude a sub, that shits expensive! I have been researching the crap out of this and so far it’s this and the Underwood extreme line. The g9 and fort Scott are good too, but not as hot.
This ammo is gimmick stuff. Don't use. The video shows terribly inadequate penetration. The xtreme defenders freaking rock!!! Thanks for watching, the comment, and subscribing. Godspeed to you and yours
I don't think it's a gimmick I think it's a great defensive round for summer time where everyone is wearing t-shirts, heavy clothing needs heavier bullet. I also think the explosive effect will shock your body no matter where you hit. It's a waste to use them on short barrel pistols these kind of rounds are meant for velocity and work far better out of long barrels, a glock 43X or sig p365 with a 5 inch barrel would be perfect or just carry a full size pistol.
Shock inside the body is on what kills penetration to the vitals does if these underpin a trait then they will not be good for summer or Winter. The test clearly shows them under penetrating. Longer barrels will make the underpenetration worse because they will break apart faster at faster speeds. I'm sorry my friend but it's basic physics and biology
May drop a child, but not someone Chucks or Chukes size. Major flesh wound if you don't get'm in the eyeball. Shot placement is always king. These are great for melons and soda targets though!
Thumbs up on the shield 40. I’ve had so many carry pistols come and go but I’ve had the shield 40 for seven years. It has never malfunctioned and carries so easily. I love the 9 mm shield also. But I decided to keep the 40 because 40 Smith & Wesson doesn’t suffer velocity loss from short barrels the way 9 mm does. I’m carrying the Underwood 165g bonded. Fired through a chrono once and was getting 1140-1180 FPS. That nasty for a small carry single stack. Most 45 subcompacts can’t come close to that energy out of a short barrel.
Anyone having problems manually cycling this ammo through their .45's? It does nothing but jam in both my FNX-45 and Colt 1911. They aren't being fully extracted, and it would appear that possibly the fact that each case's bottom is 0.1mm narrower in diameter than my Federal or Gold Dot ammo (which cycles just fine) might be screwing up the ejection.
@@AlaskanBallistics I wish I could say the same. Manual recycling (that is, using the side to eject a round and insert another round from the mag) may not be the ultimate test, but it that doesn't work flawlessly, it doesn't bode well for what mat happen in real life.
@@AlaskanBallistics I just returned the 3 boxes I bought back to the vendor (something I've never done before). 60GR AMMO IN 10MM AUTO NEEDS TO BE A EXTREME PENETRATOR AT SPEEDS OF 2360FPS FROM A GLOCK 29 3.78" BARREL... Alaskan Ballistics it also depends the hydrostatic shock and blood loss. Imagine a man getting hit with all those fragments at one time and the energy dropping immediately. The blood loss and shredding would be terrible.

@@AlaskanBallistics dang, I hate having to sell a firearm. I did it twice, but it was worth the sale.
Thanks for the data Chuck! Interesting results for self defense. Not sure about selecting these for self defense.
I'll stick with HSTs myself
I use this in my 9mm EDC. Taran did a great ballistic gel manican test ... great results as well. Devistating but not an over penetrator. I doooo question the 357Sig gel result.... that doesn't add up.
The thing about Ballistics gel is that bullets tend to penetrate farther in gel than they do an actual body. I would say these don't penetrate enough.
@@AlaskanBallistics I like ballistics gel, but the Paul Harrel 'meat target' test, 3 years ago, set my mind at ease. There is enough penetration, even through ribs, and the insides are crippled.
Okay good luck
Pretty sure the 357 sig and 9mm got switched. 357 sig is a 9mm on steroids.
I started watching this video around the chronograph part and when I seen the velocity’s I thought your chronograph was broke.
Lol yeah they're not your typical loads. Thanks for stopping by! Godspeed to you and yours
If I was in Alaska, I’d be carrying my AK 47 or Russian SKS using steel core ammo like I also do.
It'll work.
Cool good to know... I've got a fun g20 video coming out soon
The thing about this ammo is: you trade hearing health for stopping power. If you use this in a self-defense situation, good bye ears
@sixpooltube or goodbye self because it fails to penetrate adequately
i use this for both my 9 and my 40. paul harrell tested the 9 and it did really well on his meat test, even through bones
That'd be a fun test
You should do the extreme Defender line. Really interested in the 357 Sig 65 grain Xtreme Defender 2152 II of a 4 inch barrel.
Did you see this video? th-cam.com/video/fmqLYA3E7-M/w-d-xo.html
That sounds about right penetration. If you videoed it leave a link here
A+++
This is my favorite ammo. Been using it for a while and I'm really surprised it's not more popular. It goes through most IIIA armor and it's a hell of a lot more effective than 99% of all the other defense rounds out there. I hate 10mm for home self defense because it over penetrates. I stick with 45 ACP
It is not more popular because it under penetrates you really want 18" In ballistics gel
@@AlaskanBallistics How was the initial reaction of the rifle bullets?
What are you talking about?
Nice i enjoy watching this video also thanks for the link
You're welcome
Good video Alaskan
Thanks brother
awesome assortment of pistols used in the test. i would use that ammo for carry.
Ummm i prefer the more traditional jhp
I would love to see the 357 sig and .40 out of longer barrels like glock 22 4.6 and glock 35 5.3. Paul harrell did the 9mm out of a beretta 5 inch barrel and got 2117 fps, freaking smokin!
Cool I'll have to try that. I got more out of my 5" barrel m&p 2.0 it was up over 2200. Haven't published that footage yet.
I think any of them would be good. However the best one is the one you are most comfortable with. I prefer my 10mm with Hornady self defense rounds . But that's just my preference. I carried a Glock 22 .40 for 16 years and it never let me down.
Good for You !!! 9,010+++ subs can't be wrong !!!
Thank you Dan! Appreciate your support over the years...
Excellent video Chuck, fun to have all the calibers together in one video. While I wouldn't want to be shot with it by any means, I wouldn't carry it either. Not enough penetration and I think fragmenting self defense hollow points are just kind of gimmicky. Thanks again brother, be blessed!
Totally agree
I like them all but my preferred home defense hand gun is my G20 with a six inch pipe. Wonder what kinda velocity a six inch berrel will generate with that load and how would it impact the penetration?
Well I have a video on that somewhere, but i think it's just my 6.5" barrel kkm. I can't remember if i put the factory barrel in it or not.
So interesting results
Some crazy numbers.
@@AlaskanBallistics
The G9 Woodsman brings out the best in feeding issues. The TNW ASR has double feed ramps. The Woodsman gets hung up between the ramps. A little shape change to the entry of the upper ramp and now even the snake shot rounds feed smoothly.
Nice 👌
Great video and presentation. These are similar to the Aguila IQ rounds made about 10 years ago. I have them in 9mm and .40 cal. I throw them in my SD mag with other rounds.
Yes because they penetrate little mixing these isn't a bad idea so long as your point of impact doesn't change from round to round.
It may not penetrate well enough on hogs. Better make headshots
@@AlaskanBallistics They obliterate hog’s… anywhere you hit them. Drop’s them as soon as there hit. Devastating !!!
Right... shooting piglets? These things don't consistently get 12" in Ballistics gel and you expect me to believe they obliterate hogs lol i wouldn't use these on stray dogs
Wonder how those would perform out of my Beretta 96 .40 with a 4.9 inch barrel.
Hmmm i don't have a longer barreled .40 to try.
The 10mm went 2600+ out of my g40 6.5" kkm barrel
I'll have to get some of these loads and try it out. Should do ok.
@@AlaskanBallistics I don't have a chronograph but I shoot .40s out of a 16" barrel AR platform they gta be gettin it way more accurate than you would think too
I have some doubt about the effect of the small base portion.
You and me both
@@AlaskanBallisticsI'd like to know how fast the base is traveling.
I'm certain it slows down a lot
I carry this in my 1911 45 I love it flat shooting cycles great awesome damage on targets
But will it penetrate?
Problem is that they may not penetrate deep enough into the perpetrator to put him down
@AlaskanBallistics look up a video of this vs a watermelon vs regular hollows lmao
@AcizYT look up statistic on cops who have used this. I've seen .338 win Mag not make it through a watermelon intact.
Shoots flat enough for long range paper, and explosive enough for those folks that you really do not like!
There's still more expensive ammo out there than this so yeah, I'd shoot it.
#TenMM
Yeah I'd prefer standard jhp for carry though 155hmgr Underwood
2000 FPS? I did not know they made rounds for those pistol caliber travel that fast. That’s getting rifle round fast. I can only say WOW!
But it's a lightweight bullet and as you could see it didn't penetrate
Alaskan Ballistics I agree. It may not be a good bear gun, but it seems very explosive at initial impact. Many videos show about 10-12 inches of penetration which is meh. The interesting thing is there are other gun channels demonstrating ammo that has penetration through Class IIIA vests, not that I am planning on engaging people with body armor, but interesting non the less.
Now do a ballistics gel test on .300 Weatherby vs 45-70 with a bear shoulder bone in front.
Well I've got a .300 win mag not a weatherby... we'll see
I'd advise checking out the seismic ammo 185 grain 9mm (unless you've already covered it and I just missed it)
I've never heard of it. When i fan find it on the shelf, I'll test it out
It's actually been really good for me out of my 9mm carbine.
I saw 60 grain 40 and had to at least try it. Will post results later using a gen 3 Glock 27.
Sweet thanks man. That'll be interesting.
i carry those in my 43 ccw and my 29 up in the mountains, I like them because there so light, a full mag hardly weights anything
I wouldn't carry these in the mountains, at least not anywhere you'd encounter a bear. Won't penetrate deep enough
@@AlaskanBallistics im in colorado, they would work just fine staggered with underwood extreme penetrators, for anything here
One factor to consider is that sig and 10 at those velocity is more than likely going to destroy or damage tissue and organs within the temporary cavity from shockwaves, something hard to detect in gel.
And not really penetrate to those organs. 12 - 13" in gel is like 5 in the human body
@@AlaskanBallistics I agree somewhat and would not choose these for edc, these burrow 2 or three inches in with that deep cavity before they expand and fragment,I think they would do well in certain circumstances.
@@paulscountry456 like spring watermelons
@@AlaskanBallistics nothing does watermelon like extreme defenders,we have a watermelon farm,I will try these this year on melons....

Nice hat!!! Are you a TN Vols fan? I carry the 10mm little brother...the 40 S&W in Glock 23
Go Vols.
Speed is the essence of any combat,at close range Liberty should be GREAT!
Penetration to the vitals is what puts people down though...
I'm not sure the ammunition was donated
They're about $40. for a box of 20. And like most else these days, despite those prices, they're out of stock.
Good video. Compared to these, I noticed they made the 357 magnum version very weak/slow. I wonder why.
So the bullet will actually penetrate maybe... too fast in speed it breaks apart too fast. 12" in gel is really not that good. Gimmick ammo
@@AlaskanBallistics yes. They claim it causes hydrostatic shock as a rifle round.
@drbkjv9495 well maybe but hydrostatic shock doesn't kill, penetration to the vitals does.
Was this filmed earlier or do you guys have that much snow there this time of year?
About 4 weeks ago. It was 50 degrees. I was just im a spot where the snow hadn't melted yet
In my edc and home defense.
Really? With that poor of penetration I'd never use it. You really want 18" in Ballistics gel to get 12" in a human being.
Somehow that's got misrepresented to 12-18" in Ballistics gel is okay.
Once you look at the results, in Paul Harrel's meat target for example, what more do you need to see?
I have not looked at those.... they're are much better performing bullets than these. Especially in his tests
During ammo shortage, this is one brand that is consistently on the shelf. I am not a fan of hyper ammo. Have Speer Gold Dot in my Shield 40 right now, till I can find HST.

Might be good for someone who is afraid of over penetration. I would be curious if being so fast and lite changed the point of impact ? Kool video 👍🇺🇸
Good idea
I need that g29
. also i like fragmenting ammo. I've used bthp rifle rounds for hunting with similar effects and the energy dump helps those little pieces go and likely find something important
I like the Underwood 155gr xtp out of my g29

45 for me . My carry is a Kimber ultra carry 3 inch.
That'll work... I line the speer gold dot 200gr +p from that barrel length. What do you use?
For self defense vs human target yes. Tons of damage without over penetrating but I still prefer my 165gn jhp's loaded to 1250fps outta my 4in barreled FNP40. But where I live n hunt black bear is a concern so when in the woods I run the extreme defender hand loaded to 1450fps in my .40 as I have tested it out vs a side of beef ribs n fat covered with a sheet of leather and fleece and a gel block behind the target with excellent penetration and damage. Enough that I trust it if needed.
Yeah i think you've made better choices than these
Seems like pretty high energy looks good but I prefer a little better penitraion.
Me too
It looks like it would take a knee cap off are a shoulder head shots total death
Yeah but a chest shot wouldn't penetrate enough

Surprised the 357Sig was faster than the 10mm, even out of a shorter barrel...it’s upsetting my justification for getting a Glock 29. Maybe I need a 32.
I need a g32 to do comparisons with. This 10mm 9in barrel was faster than a .223 60gr v max in a 10.5" barrel. .357 sig long barrel works also be fun
Did you make your own block?
Yep
@@AlaskanBallistics Nice. I looked up a recipe and a "how to" last night. It looks relatively easy to do.

Not really, not enough penetration. 12" in gel doesn't v usually equate to 12" in person
@@AlaskanBallistics I’m in the Deep South where thick clothing is minimal. But then bone and other factors have to be taken into consideration. But a few of those at center mass will mostly like stop a threat. I mean it is an option.

Me too. I've tested them on here. I prefer the 165gr
Agreed
All these 10mm fans make me laugh. It's a hunting round. You defend yourself against anything but a wild beast, good luck proving self defense in court.
No case where a person was convicted of self defense because he had a 10mm. The one case was overturned. Don't rely on rumors for your info.
So what's your conclusion? Pick 1
Use better penetrating ammo, And make a good shot. Obviously the 10 mmeters going to give you more power even in that situation
A bit disappointed with their .357 SIG. They should be able to get more energy than that. It also seems like they are using the same bullet as the 9mm when they should have a different one tuned to the higher velocity of the .357.
Agreed
In a traditional hollowpoint, I would agree, but these are designed to frag, and I don't know how much it would change anything. Would love a re-test of the 357SIG

ok so the ammo performed as states on the box.
Pretty much, except the .357 sig
12 inches is still underpenetration. People aren't Ballistics gel and our differing layers are far more dense
For protection from people it looks good! Not for any medium or big game.
Probably not going to penetrate with people either
I think we owe the dude a sub, that shits expensive! I have been researching the crap out of this and so far it’s this and the Underwood extreme line. The g9 and fort Scott are good too, but not as hot.

Godspeed to you and yours
Guy at the gun shop told me his friend shot a coyote in the top of the head with a Glock 29 blew its jaw off
Yeah that's not a large bad guy
TOTALLY AGREED

Okay?
That's really good speed out of that barrel! I might have to test some of those
A .40 cal bullet going that fast, oh my! All were impressive, the .45 rocked that block, but the 10mm made his 4 pair of jeans fly off!
Now if this gimmick ammo only had penetration...
Never had an issue
@@AlaskanBallistics I wish I could say the same. Manual recycling (that is, using the side to eject a round and insert another round from the mag) may not be the ultimate test, but it that doesn't work flawlessly, it doesn't bode well for what mat happen in real life.
Fire some and see
@@AlaskanBallistics I just returned the 3 boxes I bought back to the vendor (something I've never done before). If a round doesn't extract with manual racking 6 for 6 in 2 high quality fully functional weapons (but other HST and Gold Dot rounds do), I'm NOT going to rely on it for defense, and won't waste time or money on it at the range. If I don't have 100% confidence in a specific brand or type of ammo, I simply won't use it. Period. No exceptions. With the Liberty ammo, my confidence level was 0%. Adding insult to injury, I sent an email about this to Liberty, and they never even responded. Pathetic customer service. I don't know about the other calibers, but the .45 ACP is on my do not buy list.
I just bought 2 boxes📦 for a 40 Smith & Wesson 2.0 with a 5” inch barrel so it’s he Full Size in FDE color. I just bought a 357 Sig 5” inch Conversion barrel so I bought ammo for that as well. He gave a sucky review on the 357 sig ammo smfh 🤦🏽♂️ I lowkey want my money back. I didn’t even shoot the ammo yet
I wouldn't buy this for any caliber. 12" in gel is like 4" in a human
Keep in mind, most kevlar is defeated over 2000fps.
Something to think about for sure
I think it would work really well for very limited scenarios. Inside the home, type of scenarios, Work carry, crowds etc.
Air marshals
@@AlaskanBallistics Yes Sir, that is a great example!
First. Wait I’m not first. What the hell?
Lol wake up 🤓
You're not on my patreon
357 sig usually out penetrates,9,40,45 with EASE!It has over 40k.superior trigger pull!Very unusual weak in this case??????
No the faster it goes, the faster it flies apart in this case...
@@AlaskanBallistics More factors than what u displayed.
@@AlaskanBallistics A faster bullet,dumps more energy,corbon made there name.A magsafe bullet,ripped thru bullet proof vest.Speed!
Not sure what you mean by that, i displayed the velocity which it was clearly going fast...
I'm sure they just inserted their 9mm bullet instead of making the bullet tougher for the higher velocity of the .357 sig
60GR AMMO IN 10MM AUTO NEEDS TO BE A EXTREME PENETRATOR AT SPEEDS OF 2360FPS FROM A GLOCK 29 3.78" BARREL... NOW THAT WOULD BE A IMPRESSIVE ROUND THAT MIGHT JUST PENETRATE LEVEL 3 BODY ARMOR ( AND THAT'S JUST A MIGHT ) . BUT THAT SURE WOULD BE A RIFLE BALLISTICS ROUND FROM A PISTOL. AND NOW PUT THAT 60GR EXTREME PENETRATOR IN A CMMG BANSHEE 10MM AUTO. NOW YOU GET EVEN MORE VELOCITY AND ENERGY. THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT.
I could definitely go for that
On ballistic gel CD doesnt look impressive but if u see some videos of shooting meat (with bones) these bullets are wicked
I'll try that sometime
@@AlaskanBallistics there was a 1h long video of some asian guy comparing fmj hollow point and CD on different callibers and barrel length (bonus was also shooting 7.62x39 and comparing that to fk7.5mm). The best video on the topic
@jacekblachsiewierski7140 thanks for the info...
They did pretty good in this video... fast too...

The stretch cavity created from the velocity of these bullets, would be horrific..
Yeah though the stretch cavity isn't near as much in the human body compared to gel. The only thing that matters is penetration to the vitals; everything else is icing on the cake.
These might barely make that on skinny guys that mug you in the summer wearing a t shirt
@AlaskanBallistics you're just going to have to test these on some wild hogs. Then we'll know for sure.
@terrytolentino5459 don't have wild hogs here. And I'm not getting a Darwin Award by using them on grizzly bear. They're a fudd gimmick round at best.
