Collecting is a luxury, and things have been beginning to get real for a few years now. Can't eat or barter action figures for survival necessities.
Facts: Also, people need to have a budget when buying toys these days because they are expensive. Spending your entire paycheck on figures is not a good idea. There are far more important things in life than buying toys. People need to remind themselves that they can't collect everything. Imagine spending $500 or more on toys every month-you simply can't live like that.
@weareonefamily2947 And yet the toy companies just keep producing more & more new items & charging more, tightening the screws on collectors, but especially the people who feel they have to have it all. They really have their hooks in people... hearing about the firms who have vested interest in these corporations, I have to wonder if their goal is simply making money.

@ioncewasmikey When addicted, you don't blame the substance, you blame the addict for continuing their addiction.😉
@@ioncewasmikey That’s the collector's fault, not the toy companies. These companies aren’t forcing you to buy their products; it’s your choice. If grown adults can’t stop themselves from spending most of their money on toys, that’s on them. You must understand that this is business-these companies don’t care if you spend all your money on toys. Like the first comment said, collecting toys is a luxury, not a necessity. Toy collectors need to take accountability for their spending habits.
My car insurance is double My electric bill is double Food prices are $7 for a bag of fritos..$18 for 1 star wars 3.75 inch figure.ive been a toy collector since 1995..now I only collect retro star wars figures..I've sold over half my toy collection over the last 4 years..im fed up with prices on everything...
Not a big collector, but I buy my favorite figures to pose on my desk and then rotate once a month. I honestly don't know how hardcore collectors afford their huge selection of figs.
I've trimmed down my collection considerably. Less makes a better display than more. Most collectors have shelves of figures that look nothing more than a tangled mass of plastic. It just so happens that, with today's economy, I'm saving money with this philosophy.
The thing is we are going into a big recession, we are already in a recession but the companies are down sizing, making less products, because fewer people have extra money 💰 to purchase goods and services.
There's no such thing as FREE Healthcare my guy. Someone (me) is paying for it. I don't mind, but I hate hearing ppl complain...Just work and pay like normal folk. And I'm saying this to you Unc,just whoever truly needs some wisdom. If someone can't afford a hobby, then yes they should quit and better focus on what they can,and maybe one day they can start up again 💯
California here all I ever see is the same iron-man movie figs on pegs, only other line that might get stocked is wrestling figures and the occasion figarts.
Who all have you heard are quitting Unc? Where all have you heard this? I know for me personally, after this year…my action figure purchasing will drastically drop from 100% to 10%. I’m bought SO MUCH over 12 months…my focus will primarily go towards finding display spaces throughout my house.😄 I’m also tired of burning a bunch of expensive gas and finding nothing. There are A LOT OF COLLECTORS ALL fishing in the same pond. I’ve had a great time buying everything I wanted within 12 months. I’m done Unc!🍻
Figures are still fun but the collecting itself is a headache. The market is just a mess and it's only getting worse. The new Storm Shadow v2 is still delayed on Pulse, Amazon got it 2 weeks ago, and now Amazon's price is 33% off (not a Black Friday deal either)! But other figures in that wave are sold out almost everywhere. NECA shipping problems and their customer service. Silly stuff going on everywhere.
A lot of toy companies are re releasing the same figures we already have and the new figures are too expensive and only diehards want. The hobby has lost its luster
I went to usps 2 days ago to ship a present (funco toys)to NYC from Colorado, $90 cuz box is not a standard size, i almost fainted . its a present and i waited an hour in line, so i paid..
Yeah i really slowed down on collecting recently i don't have extra income to and been selling most of my collection that is low value but keeping high value items for future to give to my sons
That’s so stupid and dump. This is because of the US disconnecting Russia from the international payment, sizing $600 billion of Russians money and sanctions. Russia is the worlds largest commodity exporter. Oil, Gas, precious metals, they are the worlds largest exporter of fertilisers to grow crops, why do you think food is so expensive!? Here europe our economies are down Dorian because of the sanctions on Russia.

Yeah all the nonsensical prices and obsession is why I quit collecting Yu-Gi-Oh cards.

It's home insurance, property tax, car insurance, AAA renewal, DMV registration, energy bill, etc. And that's just the tip of the iceberg.
My car insurance is double
My electric bill is double

Yup, I used to buy from Mercari, but since they changed their buying policies, I dropped them like a bad habit..

I agree I am fed up!
I guess I should not mention that I picked up the first wave of secret wars today

People being like old is better with toys but then acting like old is worse when it comes to wisdom.
People are going to have to start hitting licks at the toy shops to just get figures smh
A lot of toy companies are re releasing the same figures we already have and the new figures are too expensive and only diehards want. The hobby has lost its luster
And let’s not forget that toys will be even more expensive when the tariffs start next year.
The tariffs that never ended?

If you move. Stay in a blue state. We dont want your garbage in a red state.
A lot of the blue states are turning red. A lot of Democrats have changed parties. A lot of Democrats in blue states voted for Trump.
Oh, the irony of this statement. 🤷
This is what you get for voting for Donald Dump💯 it’s all starting now!!!
