Elvis had a unique way of taking a traditional country song and turning it into a pop soul performance with his soulful vocal range.

The only other time I heard this song was when jim Neighbors used it as his closing number on his variety show in '70 (yes i'm that old). When i heard this first on the Sirius Elvis channel i was just blown away. Loves how it starts slowly and builds to a crescendo .

Funny, I was thinking of Elvis' bluesy cover of Bob Dylan's 'Tomorrow is a Long Time', which I love too.

That was a terrific one! You should watch Elvis' rehearsal of the last minute of this song. It's very powerful. Also, the song that came on after this one was "I Was Born About 10,000 Years Ago". Could you react to that one?

CAPTAIN TOM, SIR: That beautiful song indeed has "country origins". It was written and originally sung by the Ole Texas Troubadour, Ernest Tubb. E.T. has a whole catalog of his traditional country hits. When I was just a little boy, I can remember my mom, both Friday and Saturday nights having the am radio on tuned to WSM Nashville TN, the home of the Grand Ole Opry. And Ernest Tubb would likely be on. I took my mom to see him in person; a very nice man. THANK YOU!

@@patticriss2238 That’s precious. I’ve been a fan since I was 7 years old in 1968. I seen him in concert when I was 15 years in 1976 at the Capital Center in Washington DC. I’ve been to Graceland 7 times. I’ve adored this man almost all of my life.

    Mr BB King:
'Before Elvis we had Little Black Sambo, separate black restrooms and water fountains, and colored events that kept us away from the whites', BB King noted as he mention that Presley would attend events especially designated just for African-Americans. In June 1956, Presley ignored Memphis's segregation ordinances by attending 'colored night' at the local fairgrounds amusement park. The following December, King was there as Presley opened up almost unbreakable racial barriers by attending and supporting the segregated WDIA black radio station's annual fund-raising event for 'needy Negro children' at Memphis' Ellis Auditorium.
King wrote in his autobiography that he 'liked Elvis. I saw him as a fellow Mississippian. I was impressed by his sincerity. When he came to the Goodwill Review (the event WDIA fund raisers of 1956 and 1957), he did himself proud'.
'The Goodwill Revues were important', he wrote. 'The entire black community turned out. All the DJs carried on, putting on skits and presenting good music'.
In his autobiography, King said he held no grudges because 'Elvis didn't steal any music from anyone. He just had his own interpretation of the music he'd grown up on, same is true for everyone. I think Elvis had integrity'. 'If anyone says Elvis Presley was a racist', charged B.B. King in the 2010 interview. 'Then they don't know a thing about Elvis Presley or music history.
'Many nights after we finished our sets and I'd go up to his suite', King confessed. 'I'd play Lucille (on his guitar) and sing with Elvis, or we'd take turns. It was his way of relaxing'.
'I'll tell you a secret', King winked and laughed. 'We were the original Blues Brothers because that man Elvis knew more blues songs than most in the business - and after some nights it felt like we sang everyone one of them."
'Let me tell you the definitive truth about Elvis Presley and racism', The King of the Blues, B.B. King said, 'With Elvis, there was not a single drop of racism in that man. And when I say that, believe me I should know'.

How about doing something completely different. Do a reaction on a little group from Scotland. Look for The Corries and the song is called The Portree Kid. It's a funny song.
