@@RoulinBrooks, most of the time in Canada, train travel _does_ work (the only negatives are no HSR in each of Canada's urban corridors, no electric rail anywhere, and passenger trains having to occasionally wait in sidings for freight trains to pass by), so from one Canadian to another, bite me. VIA is getting better and newer trains (although no newer ones for the transcontinental routes) and there is talk of getting HSR in Ontario; your negative Danny Downer attitude isn't needed (and if you want to see change as regards our passenger railway system, you have to _work_ for it, *_not_* whine about it.)

Yes, it's true. From now on, to visit Venice, it will be necessary to indicate when you go and pay a ticket, if you stay for just one day, without sleeping in a hotel. If you also book the hotel instead, you will pay nothing. I think it's fair to pay because Venice is a very delicate and small museum city, therefore, this is done to avoid having the streets full of people.

I have heard about the tourist tax too., but I dont think it is there yet, but it wold make sense. 20-25 mil. visitors every year is a lot of people. The biggest problem for Venice is the cruise ships. The big ships is not good for the city and lagune. Thousand of people every day but they do not use much money in the town. The have their bed and meals on the ship. As fare as I have heard the tax should be for day tourism only. But perhaps there is an Italian viewer with more knowledge.

@@yogajedi3337 would you expect a city like Venice to be cheap? Really😂😂. Have you got any idea of what is the cost of maintenance of that city? Still, it's cheaper than several European cities. If you search online you can easily find out what sort of problems the municipality had to face, related with wild tourism. People camping in green public areas leaving trash everywhere, using public streets like open air toilets, eating on the stairs of cathedrals... If this fee will help to protect the environment I think it's the way to go.

Italo is a far better and cheaper train ride than trenitalia. Better service less rude staff probably as it’s privately owned not state.
And far cheaper, and if you have a lot of luggage book 2 seats in the solotto (private cabin of 4 seats) and you get the whole cabin plus you get reserved storage upfront and inside your cabin. Also when I went we had to wear masks(august 22) so in your private cabin u can do as you like!!!

Yes, it should be the case that when you come to Venice you have to pay an entrance fee, the tickets are sold and booked on the Internet beforehand, because the local residents have complained about the extreme tourist masses, you should in principle be forced to do so during your stay in Venice planning Venice. I was there years ago and there are really a lot of tourists, we booked with a Leipzig travel company and did a lagoon tour in Venice, you can see even more of Venice, but to be honest I would pay the entrance fee for such a beautiful city happy to pay.
