God protect all of you.We have had severely cold weather the last few days in N.Central, KY USA, but not a storm. We are always ready, though. We lost power for a short time a few days ago, but, again,READY. Keep us posted. PRAYERS.
So, how many days has the public known this storm was coming ? I watch my neighbors wander blindly, deafly through warnings like this, then be stunned and cry "why didn't anyone announce this ". Thank you for a lovely, well thought out, example of steps to take.
One thing to point out. If there should be any flooding and your home is in an area that is at risk it's important to check your home insurance policies. When my hometown experienced a major flood back in 2005 a lot of residents were shocked to find that they weren't actually covered. Also just in case of any flooding make sure that sentimental items and important documents are moved upstairs. Be prepared to either move upstairs or evacuate. If the drains fill up you can also get a back flow into your house through your toilet and plug holes in showers and sinks. So keep a check on them. Keep away from windows in case of debris damaging them too. If your area does receive a large volume of rainfall even if your home is sandbagged the water can come up through the floor.
Just seen BBC weather, and the storm that is forecast. Wales 🏴 is due to be hit, and Bristol where my grandson lives. Thank you for this timely video. Stay safe and well.
Like your hints and tips very much thank you A watched the UK met office weather forecast and this storm looks very much like it's geoengineered cos if you watch the eye it gets level with northern Ireland and then turns 90degrees to the right - that never happens - Atlantic storms track either south north southwest northwest or west east. They don't track south north and then split right half way up the west coast Stuck farmer is losing big time in Wales so we get shat on --- holyhead, fishguard, Llandudno we need to get the message out we've had enough of Westminster bullsit in north Wales and we're not backing down

It may be common sense but for people like me- I don’t know and I don’t have the ability to leave. So not a lot I can do. I’m prepared for in the house but not anything else
Plenty that you can do Cheryl, Pick a room and move some of you supplies in to it (food, water, spare blankets / duvets, torch's, snacks) and just treat it like you are going camping inside of your house 🙂 Prepare a bag with enough clothes to last for a few day so that in the worst case and you have to get evacuated, you will be ready, leave that just inside of your bugout room, so it is handy to grab on the way out If it does go belly up, prepare some hot drinks in your flask and go into your "bug out" room, close the door and prepare to wait it out, listen to the radio / phone for weather updates, read books, watch videos. Just stay warm and don't worry too much. Plenty of us will be in the same boat as you, unable to bug out and having to just hunker down and wait it out. From the maps, your corner of the world looks to be quite safe from the main storm, so you might not even notice it 🙂

Thank you Anna, luckily not in the danger zone but still aware and prepped. Wind direction can change and I expect we will still get a bit damp around the edges. Keep us posted, I’ll be watching periodically over night.
I'm in the amber zone in the middle of Ireland bookended by 2 red warning alerts. I have prepared as best as I can for this event. The rainfall is moderate at the moment and the big wind is due 10pm to 10am. Tomorrow could be a challenging work day!

Heating food in a vehicle - a small slow cooker will run off most medium sized solar generators, with the added benefit of acting like a mini radiator. I used to use my alcohol stove, housed in a TRANGIA cooking kit in the back of my van, with no problem. Spare diesel / petrol in the vehicle is always a good idea as it lets you keep the engine running to heat the van up. Hope that everyone gets through this storm ok and we will regroup on the other side and discuss our failinga and the gaps that showed up in our preps 🙂 Erm, nice loungewear Ana 😎😎
Keep safe Ana, its going to get really rough about 3am. Here on the actual coast (watching the seas from the bedroom) we are actually used to atlantic gales. Our house has stood for 200 years facing this onslaught. As my neighbour said over tea this afternoon, the worst she recalled here was when visting her MIL as a newly wed, 50 years ago, the windows blew in. Literally the whole windows frame and all! But, as she continued, they've had new ones since then. 😂
Check about the US.... China... Russia signed an agreement to not use the weather as a weapon..... Against each other.... But on the US itself.... Nothing about that. The US economy is dead.... When you have extensive damage and millions others as well..... You need to rebuild and get the economy going...... That's why the US has these storms.

@@AnasFoodLifestyleIn 87 we had winds of well over 100 miles an hour. It is not uncommon it is just the younger generations seem to get freaked out by things to easily. In the 70s and 80s we used to get snow laden winters, massive storms , day long power cuts and so on. I grew up in a granite cottage. Our bedroom windows upstairs quite often iced over in the winter. And this was in South Devon. We lived on a small country lane traversing a steep hill so on snow days we would walk with one of our parents 5 miles to school and back again. No offence to younger generations but you firstly have it pretty easy now and if you're going to stay home and you're out a flood zone, then you're also fairly safe. And hey back then we had no TV let alone Internet etc. It was picasticks and snakes and ladders under candle light when we were snowed in with no power. May be look at getting a British army No12 paraffin stove. A must have is SMS Industries mods for the No12 stove, it's a game changer for the No12 stove. Use C1 paraffin only. I have been running one in the house everyday for over a year now for cooking and hot water. Pick up a 2L Genuine Thermos brand. I run my Thermos 24 / 7 days a week for a year now as well.
But they are very expensive and not really offering much more than any campingaz cooking stove for fraction of the price . Even so, firing any of those inside the van is not a good idea.
@@AnasFoodLifestyle C1 paraffin is clean burn open vent on van will work great. I have all the vents open on my windows.
