Watched “One for the road” and had a brief moment of déjà vu with that scene where they pulled up to Kubu Island, I had the shock and sadness when the exact scene from 8:10 flashed up on the screen and it brought us back to our memories 17 years younger. Thank you very much Jeremy, James and Richard for all those memories created, it’s been a great pleasure watching you guys love the car guy dream we’ve wanted to live.
That A-model Opel Kadett is one of the best cars of all time and it was a really nice move from Hammond, that he did bring it back to Europe after the trip. It is simple, cute, reliable, allround fantastic little car. And it showed, that simplicity is the key to win afterall.

The Grand tour would have been very similar Top Gear, but it the BBC made many restrictions and copyright laws for their shows after the Trio left, that it was very difficult to make the show similar
I think its about the blokes doing or shown doing actual labour in their challegnes, like they actually done stuff themselves (even if we know thats not true) i guess them growing old was part of it I guess, that why early 2000-2010 top gear was the best.
They are almost killed in every episode, and they do catch diseases from other countries. It’s just that all screw-ups, tensions, crashes, scoldings are all off camera

The Botswana Special was really their first epic adventure for Top Gear. It first aired on November 4th 2007 and set the basics down for their future epic specials which kicked off with the 2008 Vietnam Christmas Special. The Polar Special aired in July 2007 and was also a learning curve for the specials.
