Exactly! There’s much more of a traditional learning curve with this game. Learning those attack patterns helps you know when to block, or parry, or strike back. As opposed to just exploiting the janky physics to push over everyone lol
yeah i love blade and sorcery but the gameplay meta of "just grab or push them over" gets very old very fast. I tried a 2.5x hp mod and the issue of the enemies all being LITERAL pushovers makes it too easy, I chop with a sword and it either does almost nothing or it completely immobilizes them and they fall over full ragdoll mode
what? the enemies spam the same attacks skeletons do a combo that stun locks you until you get a perfect parry big enemies spam spin attacks and when your weapon gets hit by a enemy it flys back behind you letting the enemies get free hits this game isnt good blade and sorcery will always be the better version while battle talent is a clunky mess they dev also runied dungeon's by removing them from the games "story" and making it separate so the main game is very quick unless you wanna do the dudgeons mode which sucks bad game bad dev
For the longest time I had no clue why blade and sorcery was so much more famous then battle talent, battle talent beat it in every single aspect. Then I realised Id been playing the demo the whole time, so I downloaded the full version and I cried tears of joy from how perfect it was As one of the cons you mentioned bad stabbing while in the clip you were using a curved sword that is literally designed only to slice. You also mentioned how fast enemies swing, and while I do agree that most of them swing incredibly fast this is a necessary part as otherwise it would be far too easy to kill them, plus if you get good enough you can deflect all of their attacks and it makes you feel like you've ascended to a higher plane of existence

And there is another modder that added new animations but sadly only for Outer Rim enemies that use Lightsabers. I played this game as a 5’9 140 lb black male in a metal trailer in 95 degree weather in ga and lemme tell you guys I have never been more physically challenged on some small circle shit, using that confined space and doing dungeon runs with no magic (my character was more of the close ranged warrior class) and trying to be fast and efficient as I was at work was everything it sounds like!!! Sweaty 🥵 nerve wracking and intense and I love every second of it on quest 2!!!
I played in my bathroom just for fun and because of the limited space I was forced to use a bow but it was so fun because I always ignored them being forced to use them was so amazing
I train in two different Japanese sword arts, (I’m not an expert in either though.) when I learn something in the dojo I try to take it into VR.. battle talent responds exceptionally well to actual stance, form and movement taught in the dojo. (Especially Shinkendo). Swordsman VR, is good, but the way the opponents are armored, makes their movement and attack patterns predictable at times. Battle talent gives allot more opportunity to try different movements and cuts. My favorite thing is the ability to shuffle step, (which swordsman VR misses out on). Use the left joy stick to pick a direction, and flick the right joy stick back to do a quick shuffle step, in the direction you designated by the left stick. This allows you to step into your attack or step back when the enemy is striking, it makes a huge difference in the game experience. It also makes the game much more usable when applying actual combat techniques.
Probably the best things about Battle Talent is that you can load things in the crossbow and that the enemies' attacks aren't too fast nor too slow, and also the aerial combat is so good

7:22 I have found that the stabbing is dependent on your speed/force, you cant just easily penetrate someone with a blade because it just slides off to the side, if you put actual force into it (like a lot of force) then it works very nicely

Superficially, what sets Battle Talent apart is its excellent enemy variety. Goblins, skeletons, ogres, anime swordfighters, the list goes on. B&S only has humans separated by different combinations of one-handed weapons, which I don't expect to change any time soon.
Great video, opened my eyes to a few things that blade and sorcery was missing. I've played so much of it its hard to know when to move on, maybe playing something a little more complex will help me understand that the best doesnt stay the best forever. Thanks for the recommendation!
Truly a fantastic game! From what I can tell blade and sorcery is almost unmatched when it comes to modding content despite U11, U12 constant changes. (not sure if that's the modding tools or just the crazy community) Battle Talent makes up for it with actual crafted and catered content by the devs. but I'm not sure if you got a chance to play vertigo 2 yet VR-Bro but man, it has an in-game map editor that anyone can really use and it make a massive difference when it comes to content. everything from a water level, Prison Break, goofy meme-Easter-egg kind of thing, it's awesome! So, the way I see it, if battle Talent can really nail down a simple and easy to access map editor, then that would give them quite the edge. Love the content man 💗
I have never heard of battle talent, but now i'm interested. I had no idea why people said blade and sorcery had the best melee combat, I think they were referring to how op you could be. I may not have any practical experience with swords, but I found myself fascinated with elegantly and realistically parrying and countering enemies instead of overpowering them. Which is why I enjoy the combat of Hellsplit: arena, which I recommend to anyone who also likes the same thing as me. But battle talent seems to have more content, so il have to try it out for sure.
used to play battle talent sandbox mode spawn 100 goblins and give them 3x hp and 6x damg smoked a blunt beforehand and listened to the loudest most aggressive music i can and ive never had as much fun playing literally any other game vr or not (except titanfall2) greatly recommend doing this because it really teaches you how to dodge block and hit during openings aswell as durability management and spacing since they just kinda group up unless you set them to come in waves
I honestly wasn't to hot on the idea of trying this game at first because I was new to VR in general so I had high expectations. I bought it because it looked like something I would like. Fast forward three days and challenging the first dungeon 15 times and now I have the habit to randomly dismember a goblins limbs and head, just incase. Ten out of ten, love everything about the experience.
I have been playing since beta, and when they dropped the demo for full release on quest I switched to that because I didn't have enough money for full game. I've accumulated around 500+ hours on the beta & demo content ALONE. What a game changer. Completely surreal when you don that plastic helmet in a comfortable environment and headphones on.
Awe the memories I remember playing this when it first launched in playtesting back in the day. Ngl out of all the games with the similar mechanics, it really is a fun game

In battle talent you can grab most enemies and fling them. The chinese swords are my favourites since they make you feel like a samurai especially with the chinese sword slicing again if you sheathe it after slicing
I've played B&S, Battle Talent, and (recently) Swordsman VR. B&S is a challenge when you don't touvh the thumbstick, and play in wave mode. It *then* becomes a challenge (roomscale physical movement) and then I'm having great time. But it's one of those things I play for upwards pf 1hr at a time. Battle Talent, is less sandbox , more dungoeney ARPG. Enemies have more predictable behavior that lends well to getting into "the flow" and amenable to traditional ARPG progression. These are good things! Swordsman is the state of the art for straight-up swordplay. It really is the best at simulating swordfight combat. You have to think quick but smart, with each and every opponent. It requires finesse in your movements and precision. Any one strike might be your last. It had less traditional game elements than Battle Talent, but more gamelike elements (character progression, rewards, etc) than B&S. Great video ntw - makes me want to get more time into Battle Talent!
I bought the game because i finished the demo and let me say THIS GAME IS SO GOOD,the combat is so smooth,the enemys are difficult and the amount of weapons is so good. I also love tearing off goblin heads and just beating the hell out of it lol

Blade and sorcery enemies die way to quickly and start pleading for their life the moment someone gets slapped battle talent makes the enemies harder and as for the whole grabbing thing that only works for some enemies like if ur fighting a small goblin of course its gonna give up ur way stronger than it but on a boss or older enemy or bigger skeleton they will escape your grasp easily also the problem with mods is that most of them are either reskins or they arent as well made as a game with actual development mods cant solve every problem only provide a temporary fix to it plus if a game needs mods to solve every single problem then that game isnt good in the first place (not saying B&S is bad but its way to easy)

bro Battle Talent is the closest thing to SAO right now and I love it (dev is also obviously an SAO fan) I have never felt like I overcame a heroic difficult battle in VR with my own skill as much as I have with this game: I was fighting the dual wielding Goblin boss that attacks at mach one billion. I was up against the edge, and he was pulling a relentless combo against me, pushing me to the edge. All I could do was block, and my Health got whittled down to 1 HP. The boss was almost dead too. Then, my weapons both broke at the same time. Not unlike Kirito in that Gleam Eyes fight from SAO, in an instant I reached down to my waist holsters, pulled out the two swords I had there and symmetrically slashed across his chest in the perfect window of opportunity, and he died. Inches from the edge, 1 HP, main weapons broke, split second saving reaction. I wish so badly I had it recorded. My instant replay was off (damn you Geforce Experience). I have yet to have an experience quite like that again in VR. Oh also that was just in the demo from like 2 years ago. The full game is even better.
my favorite weapon in bt is the ice wand its SOO fun to spawn in random swords and then just stab it into an enemy and watch them stand there like "bru i cant move"
I'll have to check this out. B&S is great, but you just feel too strong and like all the enemies are drunk. They just awkwardly stumble at you, and if you breath near them they fall over or get shot into space.

Well im not sponsored and I can tell you its MUCH better than blade and sorcery its more challenging, more unique and cooler weapons, way more enemy types, way more modes, way more spells, it even has multiplayer mode
In battle talent when I would get bored I would go to the training ground and spawn a bunch of teammates (goblins, dark elf’s, etc) and would start cutting all theur limbs apart. After disassembling all the body each into 10 different section I just stack the pieces in a pile using the telekinesis stone. I would do that until I actually can’t take the boredom. Also picking them up with the telekinesis spell and repeatedly slamming them on the floor is also amusing. I maybe went in a little to much detail hope the CIA don’t get me this time
I personally prefer sword combat where it doesnt feel like youre dragging your weapon through mud, i know theyre tryin to make it feel weighty, it just doesnt work for me from what ive tried, my favorite melee so far is dungeons of eternity at least that one takes into consideration the force of your swing and you cant just touch an enemy and do full damage...but ill admit i had my eye on this one, lol...

I recently played battle talent again after going on a 8 month hiatus and… it got boring so quickly, I play b&s without mods all the time and I really enjoy it sooo much
Problem is the "roguelike" is exactly the same every single time. First room is a tiny goblin swarm with a soul chest. Same 5 starter weapons to the point that I never any others unless I got 3/4 of the way to the end

Another issue with blade and sorcery is that the enemies feel so weak, like you'll tap them and they'll ragdoll. And to be honest, i much prefer fighting a standing and active opponent than a ragdolled one.
Gotta say most VR games have be just going "Eh if I had a VR headset Id check it out". This game though has moved up to "Whats the cheapest VR headset I can get to play this on". Hopefully in another few years it will finally reach the "I don't care how much it costs I need the best VR headset there is"
I have the full version of this game and omg is this game great. The mods are great, the discord community is great (kinda a lie since I don't know what's going on since I got banned from the BT Discord). The mods are definitely high quality too. The game does challenge you too.

Swordsman VR has added a dynamic combat AI recently. have you tried it since? makes the combat more dynamic for sure, tho not perfectly

I watched this game grow up on my oculus quest! it was a ton of fun seeing him add all these weapons!
cant wait to get this game for christmas, this video is challenging me to compare battle talent and blade and sorcery since ive never played any sword game that isnt blade and sorcery other than broken edge

To me the greatest thing I have done in this game is that fact that i mod it so that I am fighting the final boss while listening to Order.
In battle talent you can grab most enemies and fling them. The chinese swords are my favourites since they make you feel like a samurai especially with the chinese sword slicing again if you sheathe it after slicing
W favorite weapon, I like the whip sword, normal spear, and wind sword.
I've played B&S, Battle Talent, and (recently) Swordsman VR.
B&S is a challenge when you don't touvh the thumbstick, and play in wave mode. It *then* becomes a challenge (roomscale physical movement) and then I'm having great time. But it's one of those things I play for upwards pf 1hr at a time.
Battle Talent, is less sandbox , more dungoeney ARPG. Enemies have more predictable behavior that lends well to getting into "the flow" and amenable to traditional ARPG progression. These are good things!
Swordsman is the state of the art for straight-up swordplay. It really is the best at simulating swordfight combat. You have to think quick but smart, with each and every opponent. It requires finesse in your movements and precision. Any one strike might be your last. It had less traditional game elements than Battle Talent, but more gamelike elements (character progression, rewards, etc) than B&S.

I bought the game because i finished the demo and let me say THIS GAME IS SO GOOD,the combat is so smooth,the enemys are difficult and the amount of weapons is so good. I also love tearing off goblin heads and just beating the hell out of it lol

I used to think that this game was bad even when I bought it to try it. I was really wrong. I gave it an actual good play and studied the details of this game. It is now my favorite.

you said "enemys just give up when you grab them" for B&S but you can to the exact thing in battle talent. edit: there is a mod in B&S called expert mod it makes it more of a challenge
also if you want enemys with more health or a boss THEN JUST GET A MOD also crystal hunt is coming out and there is already dungeons like in battle talent and there will be currency and stuff for that so im pretty excited OH AND i respect your opinion but keep this in mind next time you play B&S. edit: there is also a mod that allows them to not get pushed over so easily

Blade and sorcery enemies die way to quickly and start pleading for their life the moment someone gets slapped battle talent makes the enemies harder and as for the whole grabbing thing that only works for some enemies like if ur fighting a small goblin of course its gonna give up ur way stronger than it but on a boss or older enemy or bigger skeleton they will escape your grasp easily also the problem with mods is that most of them are either reskins or they arent as well made as a game with actual development mods cant solve every problem only provide a temporary fix to it plus if a game needs mods to solve every single problem then that game isnt good in the first place (not saying B&S is bad but its way to easy)

I have never felt like I overcame a heroic difficult battle in VR with my own skill as much as I have with this game:
I was fighting the dual wielding Goblin boss that attacks at mach one billion. I was up against the edge, and he was pulling a relentless combo against me, pushing me to the edge. All I could do was block, and my Health got whittled down to 1 HP. The boss was almost dead too. Then, my weapons both broke at the same time. Not unlike Kirito in that Gleam Eyes fight from SAO, in an instant I reached down to my waist holsters, pulled out the two swords I had there and symmetrically slashed across his chest in the perfect window of opportunity, and he died.
Inches from the edge, 1 HP, main weapons broke, split second saving reaction. I wish so badly I had it recorded. My instant replay was off (damn you Geforce Experience).
I have yet to have an experience quite like that again in VR.
Oh also that was just in the demo from like 2 years ago. The full game is even better.

its SOO fun to spawn in random swords and then just stab it into an enemy and watch them stand there like "bru i cant move"

I'll have to check this out. B&S is great, but you just feel too strong and like all the enemies are drunk.
They just awkwardly stumble at you, and if you breath near them they fall over or get shot into space.

Well im not sponsored and I can tell you its MUCH better than blade and sorcery its more challenging, more unique and cooler weapons, way more enemy types, way more modes, way more spells, it even has multiplayer mode

Battle Talent is the Solo Levelling dream come true
In battle talent when I would get bored I would go to the training ground and spawn a bunch of teammates (goblins, dark elf’s, etc) and would start cutting all theur limbs apart. After disassembling all the body each into 10 different section I just stack the pieces in a pile using the telekinesis stone. I would do that until I actually can’t take the boredom. Also picking them up with the telekinesis spell and repeatedly slamming them on the floor is also amusing. I maybe went in a little to much detail hope the CIA don’t get me this time

I personally prefer sword combat where it doesnt feel like youre dragging your weapon through mud, i know theyre tryin to make it feel weighty, it just doesnt work for me from what ive tried, my favorite melee so far is dungeons of eternity at least that one takes into consideration the force of your swing and you cant just touch an enemy and do full damage...but ill admit i had my eye on this one, lol...
played B&S, had to bump up the speed ‘cuz otherwise moves I could do in real life (especially flicks and other rotations) were waaay too slow and would noticeably drag.
Blade & Sorcery showing up with 1.0 including revamped AI, a proper skill tree, and a story mode.

The knights lance is the speed runner tool. On the first dungeon i think i got down to 6 minutes with sheer luck and speed

I recently played battle talent again after going on a 8 month hiatus and… it got boring so quickly, I play b&s without mods all the time and I really enjoy it sooo much
I think what Battle Talent does better BY FAR is it's actual progression, you have magic items, upgrades in runs, unlockable weapons, etc.
Problem is the "roguelike" is exactly the same every single time. First room is a tiny goblin swarm with a soul chest. Same 5 starter weapons to the point that I never any others unless I got 3/4 of the way to the end
U have way more stuff later on like skeletons, humans, harder bosses, different maps, better weapons, etc
@Funnything-x3m yes, in the same order, every time. I've beaten the game before they nerfed the shit out of the roguelike mode, and it used to be way better
@ are u playing the full game or the demo? Cuz to me the enemies are different and so are the weapons also if ur just talking about the repetitive “fight this enemy and progress” then thats every game also are u playing adventure mode or challenge?
don’t forget that you can do air combos in this game

The most only reason I get on blade and sorcery is if I’m feeling down for some hand to hand, because it’s the only thing it beats battle talent with.
Blade and Sorcery added a full campaign mode finally....and it's so convoluted that no one does it lol
I always felt blade and sorcery was mostly a sandbox

Another issue with blade and sorcery is that the enemies feel so weak, like you'll tap them and they'll ragdoll. And to be honest, i much prefer fighting a standing and active opponent than a ragdolled one.
Battle talent gets easier when you figure out the move set same with blade and sorcery
Its kinda like a dark souls game, turned into a dungeon crawler and put into VR

Gotta say most VR games have be just going "Eh if I had a VR headset Id check it out". This game though has moved up to "Whats the cheapest VR headset I can get to play this on".
Hopefully in another few years it will finally reach the "I don't care how much it costs I need the best VR headset there is"

I have the full version of this game and omg is this game great. The mods are great, the discord community is great (kinda a lie since I don't know what's going on since I got banned from the BT Discord). The mods are definitely high quality too. The game does challenge you too.
