    I've noticed my fullbacks are more often than not my most passy boys in Football Manager whenever I use a 433. If I use a more standard 442, my fullbacks tend to be the least important players on the field to the extent that I try to find ways to get them to be more of a presence. Playing them inverted appears to work in the best way possible while still having the 2 banks of 4.

    8:56 I’ve been saying for months now that Liverpool no longer press with the same intensity that they used to have in the 2018-2020 period. I’m not sure if this is in recognition that Klopp’s main players no longer have the legs to do it and/or if the front line is now being used more to protect, congest, and “press” the midfield areas.

    • @titler3140

      it's boggling how many people still think we play like we used to cause they criticize jota for his press. • @positional_play
    @positional_play 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I think it worth noting that their attacking shape is pretty similar if not the same. City's and Liverpool's attacking structure often looks like a 2-3-5 or 2-3-2-3.
    The difference is which players take up the positions. Obviously, the first 2 are the centerbacks. But the three is already different. Both have their defensive midfielder in the middle, but at Liverpool the players next to him are his midfield partners whereas at City it's usually the inverted fullbacks.
    Liverpool's width is usually provided by their attacking fullbacks, at City this is done by the wingers. City occupy the halfspaces with their central attacking midfielders, at Liverpool it the wider attacking players (Salah, Mane, Diaz). The "center forward" position is pretty much the same, though.

    • @super_organist
      @super_organist 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it's a 433 that kinda morphs into a 235.Liverpool wanna play in the opposition half with most of their players and this pin the opposition back,while the two centre backs and the defensive midfielder patrol the half way line, ready to nip any counter attacks in the bud , and recycle possession again

    When you look at these systems, due Arsenal's current injury situation, you could see them building a hybrid of this system.
    Tomiyasu (when he's back) can be that reserved fullback role
    Tavares can be the more attacking fullback (Cancelo/TAA) by either drifting in or running wide depending on the situation
    Xhaka x Partey (KDB x Rodri)
    Then that fluid foward line speaks for itself, one extremely wide winger (Saka) and another who drifts wide or cuts in depending on the situation (ESR/Martinelli)

    Slight quibble, but having 16 or 17 unique goal scorers is cool but far less instructive than seeing the actual goal distribution for both teams. I am not sure, but would expect that Manchester City's goals are more evenly distributed than Liverpool's. Certainly in past seasons that has been true. Some quick mental math tells me that Salah has scored around 26% of Liverpool's EPL goals (20/77) while Manchester City's top scorer(s) (3 way tie at 10/70 a piece) only accounts to about 14%.
    Liverpool are a great team, but they are still quite reliant on Mohammed Salah and overall far more so than City are on any individual player (except maybe Cancelo or Rodri to be honest). Salah is probably up there as one of the least replaceable players in the league in general and seems to never be injured on top of that.
    It should be an interesting game. I'm expecting it to get a bit more rough and tumble than previous meetings between the two (something I doubt city will enjoy much).

    Big Tifo random fan here. Just got one question/comment: Why Luis Diaz not included in the Liverpool formation? This is because data analyzed if before his signing, right?
    Maybe this can start discussion on the new Mane role with Diaz in squad and how this maybe or not a risk for tomorrows match.
    Anyway, great video as always. Thank you, guys.

    idk if this is a question worth asking or not, but do de bruyne in a double pivot situation play like a deep lying playmaker, advanced playmaker or a mezzala (in around 1:40)

    people were wondering why pep started Jesus, it was for the long ball over the top of midfield that he can win in he air, as the liverpool press is hard to play through.

    This was great, but it is getting slightly annoying that pundits and analysts keep using that last game as a reference and all the whole highlighting how important TAA is to Liverpool's game. He didn't play, so all the stats on style of play in that game are a bit pointless

    The game this weekend will hopefully be amazing, but I’ll be super nervous hoping Liverpool win. I would love to see them do something historic this season, like win the treble or dare I even say, the quadruple!

    while liverpool have had more individual scorers, i think its important to note that salah has still scored more than a quarter(20/77) of their total goals, whereas as city's 3 top scorers all have 10 each

    I think if you ask most players, they'd rather play for Klopp than for Pep. Firmino and Origi still have Klopp's trust. Meanwhile, Pep has dropped Sane, Sterling, and many brilliant players just for one mistake in a game.

      Maybe bcuz city's squad at that time was bigger. Liverpool's front three back then was never rotated or rested bcuz they only have origi and minamino off the bench which are not high quality. Look at liverpool now, no one knows their front three lineup anymore.
