SA here. Rugby Union in Europe should be a summer sport. URC venues are so depressing compared to Super Rugby events. No brainer, but you guys will carry on being 3rd best……

Couldn’t agree more. Rugby in the UK is run by morons

The season goes from September to late May. Then you have summer tours to the southern hemisphere. How could you possibly fit all those fixtures into the summer?
The Champions cup has always been the big competition in Europe. The atmosphere at those fixtures (especially at the French and Irish venues) is miles ahead of anything super rugby has to offer.

I disagree with Bens theory. The only way to grow the sport is by making it safer, or have variants that are not so physical. Going down a 'celebrate the physicality' route is a fast road to it being banned in school. Yes it is not for everyone and yes it is contact, but the game and culture needs to change imho.

England/RFU need to ensure development of English talent ie all Prem clubs to have English Props only. Could help with shortage of world class Props in England? When did we last have one that can scrummage, carry and tackle like
    Ab's and Boks?

English Prem can not stand so many 'Big' clubs as they dont have supoort and run at a loss every year. Top 6 clubs join Irish, Welsh & Scots to create a Super League. Fans want to watch quality week in week out etc, then England. Make Second and Third Divisions smaller with proimotion and relegation, parachute payments etc...

NZ club rugby and pro rugby is nigh on broke, as is Australian rugby. So spreading the game is not the panacea.

Improve the product by reducing the number of subs. The premier league is boring.

My forecast is that professional rugby will die a death within ten years! The product is not attractive enough to an audience that has never played the game.

Mmm not too sure about that .. rugby is growing in south africa you can see so many people that were excluded in the dark days are now as rugby mad as the beers. Also the Americans in the last several years I have seen so many Americans want to know more and love rugby due to its physicality is similar to the nfl and they don't stop every 40 seconds. . Your on you tube making this comment you must have seen how much rugby has grown on this platform alone ... get rugby in schools in your country and stop being negative if you are not a rugby fan what are you doing here

Not in France, the top 14 and pro d2 are thriving with a superb product and culture.

Club Union in the U.K. doesn’t have any local tribal allegiance so it’s a very difficult sell. It’s also not a sport that’s played in state schools generally so…I dunno what they’re supposed to do really
