Texwell The Wizard I didn't even think of these points until I read the article. I really did not like that he died at the end. The argument the article made for Marvel villains is true. The article added another layer. I got wrapped up in all of the good the movie produced. You didn't think about how it treated the black American characters in the film. I read the Boston article. The unrelenting core ideology in the article seems to be constructed on the blatant disregard that human nature is selfishness at its best. Is the color line the greatest message in history for the enslaved black man in America?. The primary, historical cause expressed as a "racist" culture. Is it the absolute, primary basis for everything that happens to a black man, woman in America The challenge is as long as we keep the focus as a "color" based issue it perpetuates and deepens the divide. Many find pleasure to fuel the financial engine of race wars. It is the similaritied, regardless of, melanin reproduction, that binds and heal the human heart. Highlights on the surface differences only perpetuate the ignorant and generalized lies. To forgive a wrong heals the one offended immensely more than the one who committed the offense. One will live. The other will implode in a self perpetuating stew of resentment. Pick the target. Whatever the impetus, this truth is for all human beings. It is fundamentally true for every culture. Both sides of a fraction, healing is not gained by emphasizing the differences nor blaming the other side. Violence has yet to produce heaing or improve the basic condition of a conflict. Dr. Mlk jr said love heals. So maybe african americans should start looking at oppression across the globe and do a study on that. Slavery did not start in America and the institution of genocide is very prevalent in many countries across the globe today. So back to the story... Kilmonger wants to ship weapons from Wakanda. Eye for an eye? The gangsta is dispensable. Aka boyz in the hood. The gangster believes that. Is that the reason so many viewers went to see it? Is that the core reason the movie is a financial success? Welcome to Gaza strip ideology. Maybe the African American plight is less of melanin issue?? Kilmonger did not see another option and presumed he would be imprisoned if he chose healing. Could he live in Wakanda? And how? T'Chala offered life. Kilmonger believed death was best. Btw, look at the ending again. Did T'Challa plunge the knife or did it circle in the air? How many viewers left feeling Black Lives don't matter? How many celebrated a new imagery and goals to be embraced and attained. That can be realized? What is really the underlying issue for the african american collective conscience to deal with? @Jocelyn Graham I guess most would strangle old ladies and kill their girlfriends to save themselves. He was likeable, but a piece of shit at the same time. Great actor. Hard to pull off ruthless and loveable at the same time.
By far the best MCU villian, he's a layered human with a compelling argument and is RIGHT in a certain way. Putting the hero difficult position. That to me makes him better them every other villian so far
Exactly, he was my favourite character and I don't think I can see the sequels reaching the standards of the first film because he was such a well done and developed villain. He completely stole the show.
@@TheFoolishable nah. He strangled an old lady and shot his girl to save himself. When that's your hero, your a villain. Great character, well played, respectable backstory, villain just the same.

There wasn’t a body….but for what it’s, after everything that’s happened with Chadwick, he most definitely is coming back. At least I really hope so. Seeing a redemption arc for his character and taking up the mantle of the Black Panther would be a dream come true.
He’s the best superhero villain I’ve ever seen because his motivations make complete sense and are logical. I understand why he’s so angry. The trauma of his childhood and witnessing Wakanda’s prosperity contrasted against Black communities in every other country discriminated against…these reasons all make sense. Every other supervillain pales in comparison. Meanwhile, Dr Connors from Spider-Man is out there wanting to turn everyone into fucking LIZARDS. Like WHY?!
Just saw the movie and I haven’t thoroughly enjoyed a comic book villain this much since Ledger’s Joker. Killmonger is what really makes this film excellent.
Id rather them do that than force a sequel, keep everything original, one of the big things about the movie is that it went against expectations, you keep them alive and well, things CAN become pretty obvious where theyre going

Emmanuel Smith all good. Thanks for the clarity. I think, from what I've heard, his character a) could've been a great two part story and b) with Killmonger being as strategically intelligent and as successful as he was [both in film and in lore] it seemed the plot brought his summit too swiftly. MBJ is the best actor in the film, should have been cast as BP. Boseman should be memed as Boreman. The guy uses every ounce on his bad accent and comes across like a fucking board.
The origin you mentioned is not his main origin Christopher Priest and Don McGregor run which are essential Black Panther stories is the main one. Killmonger parents were killed by Klaw's men, was then kidnapped including other Wakandans by Klaw's men after their defeat by T'Challa. Killmonger was forced to work as a slave in the US. Killmonger eventually escaped he couldn't find his way back to Wakanda as its shut to the outside world essentially stuck as an orphan in a country that was foreign to him. Since then he been plotting against the Royal family. As he felt T'Chaka's lack foresight and weakness led to Klaw invading Wakanda to later cause devastation which led to his parents dying, be forgotten and being left to survive on his own. Years later he happen to come across T'challa, Killmonger told him his story and wanting to return back to Wakanda. T'challa agreed as Killmonger was a native and had been through alot even named the village he was from by his Wakanda name in his honour N'Jadaka. It had nothing to with restoring his father's honour. Once he came back, during that time BP was becoming more active with the Avengers wasn't around much, Killmonger used that opportunity to start a rebellion and start revolution in Wakanda. Killmonger is enhanced through the synthetic version of the heart shaped herb
Just returned from seeing Black Panther. Dude, Rob, dudebro....please do a follow up vid on Black Panther. So many things, questions, potential plot pieces, characters/development. GIVE IT TO US BABY!!
I’ve already watched the film here I the UK. I can say it was amazing and killmonger was one of my favourite marvel villains very fresh and new type of villain
Malthizar Idk about top three. He's not better than Loki or Vulture in my opinion. I also loved Bucky in Winter solider, but they're basically tied for 3 for me and are kinda interchangeably.
SH HS you're 100% correct. He was still an antagonist though. However because he was brain washed that's why I say I'm torn between Bucky and Killmongor for top 3. I wouldn't blame anyone for putting one over the other.
Part of Killmonger's strength after his coma is attributed to the fact that he develops and consumes his own synthetic version of the heart shaped herb. It's the reason he doesn't kill Kasper in the first place, because he has that to leverage with, and knows the Wakandan council will leave him alone because it isn't the real thing.
Charles Baylor lmao ya dont think theres any white people that worked on this two lmaoo this movie had to be passed by all those white guys at disney and marvle
I really hope they decide to bring Killmonger back for the second film. Also, he has a 5 issue mini series that's a prelude to his arrival to Wakanda. Maybe we can cover it?
You should do a video focusing on Nakia. Her role in the comics and what her character's role in future movies might be. I don't know much about her, and since she's not Storm, I'm fearing what might happen to her being a love interest now that Marvel owns Fox
It's frustrating to me that when people see Black Panther all they see is the Panther suite. He is so much more and the recent stories show deep the character is and rich in history and growth potential Wakanda has. More needs to be done with the character and the movie is a good start!
You rob what do you think is blade a hero cause a lot of people say this is the first black superhero movie with a black person in the leading role when they seem to forget about blade but some are claiming he's not a hero
So btw anyone else find it funny that all these super powerful gems of the universe almost all seem to be focused on Earth in the movies? A whole universe and the objects with the most power seem to all be in one location. Not the greatest hiding spots lol
Chris Godfrey almost none of the stones were in Earth in the.MCU originally. Thanos had mind Asgard has space Asgard hid Reality in a remote place The collector or tinkerer (i forget) had power Sorcerer Supreme had Time (only one) Finally, the soul stone id MIA
Yharo Torres I am referring to the original locations. Aether in dimensional rift discovered through Earth. Tesseract in a crypt on Earth. Time gem with the ancient one on Earth. And it seems likely the soul gem could pop up on Earth in wakanda during infinity war. So 4 with locations found on Earth prior to events that occur in the movies
Rob you were RIGHT! Killmonger was unlike any villain Marvel's cinematic universe has presented! This is the first time I've seen anyone empathize with a antagonist. Sure people say, "oh yeah [villain] is so ruthless and maniacal, they're great" but here you have people saying KM wanted what was best for his people, just by any means necessary. I really wouldn't mind seeing him return in a sequel
So if Killmonger is just an excellent, but normal, human, how would Bruce Wayne do against T'challa? I thought the Black Panther was on a different level from even exceptional, plain humans.
In a nutshell, if T'challa is without the powers given by the panther God. He would go even with Bruce Wayne as just a normal human. Cause both is one of the most intelligent and excellent fighters in their respective universe.
Pretty sure if Batman has plot armor thick enough to stand toe to toe with the man of steel and villains like dark side then he can pretty easily take out Black Panther.
I find it so funny that people are up in arms about Black Panther basically being an ethno-nationalist or ethnocentric nationalist person. Of course he is he's supposed to mirror African culture. There's a lot of people that don't understand that people in Africa are kind of like Trump. We're just nicer about things. apart from me and others that are like me, people in Africa don't take kindly to a lot of outside races.
Diversity is not their strength. They are racist as hell and will use the benevolence of others as one might use toilet paper. Which is why I will have no sympathy for the impending, self-inficted famine slouching toward south africa due to their anti white rabies. Trump however is not a rascist.
Chronfucius I think you have me confused. Their acts of wanting to be left alone and not bothered is kind of like the Hulk in their universe. However, they are also very real world African in that they tend to keep everything in-house economically. And when I say Trump is a racist I'm talking about the perception of trump being a racist.
Chronfucius additionally, both the White and the South African black people are both going to die of thirst it when Day Zero finally hits South Africa. So your unwillingness to help means that you're racist against both black and white in that sense.
Emmanuel Ani Facts, they touch on this in the comics especially the Jungle Action Run. BP one point spending more time with the Avengers helping the outside world. Once he back to his country his security council to the normal of people of Wakanda were questioning his authority and whether he still was true Wakanda as he left them for awhile. He brought his girlfriend Monica Lynne, (way more history together than Storm). She was discriminated against just for being a westerner. Sometimes it's not just colour but culture and tradition also separate us.
Hey Rob, I'm new to your channel and new to comic book in general so I don't know everything you have covered but I think a cool "one-off" video would be some pretty underwhelming villains doing some pretty incredible things. I think that would be a cool vid.
@comicsexplained Hey rob, I was just wondering about all the possibilities the new ultimate universe has. I was also wondering as to who you think would be able to write the new stories if they ever get picked up?
So as BP is essentially Marvel’s Batman, Killmonger is their Bane as well? As much of a DC fanboy as I am, Killmonger seems like a much more intense and interesting villain, even more pumped for the movie now!
I wanted to like it but I just didn’t. The villain was not very articulate I wish they would have made him articulate like Malcolm X and that they delved in deeper with the diverging philosophies. Another thing that he should have been bent on is destroying wakanda. It’s very clear at the onset of the film that wakanda was the perpetrator for his sorrow. He could have easily blamed wakanda for killing his father not knowing his father was a criminal. At the end they did not really resolve the differing philosophies and the bad guy had the audacity to compare himself to a slave. Sorry but criminals are no comparison to people who were forcibly removed from their home and traded. At the end they made a charity for Oakland.... bro goto Rwanda and Congo and I wish wakanda did a Monroe doctrine style approach to the African continent that would have been awesome. For me it was a 6 out of 10
Ec0n0m15t he suffered the same fate as slaves taken from the motherland. He lost his father and his identity and saw how lives of African Americans and Non Wakandans needed to change
MystikalScope Productions I don’t agree that he was even close to the same fate. The man went to MIT and became a navy seal after his father passed. Slaves were forcibly removed from their family and made to work unforgivable labor, make babies, and when their babies became of age they were sold. In other words slave owners would have killed his parents and he would be sold into slavery for the remainder of his short life. This villain was a stupid tyrant with no philosophical underpinnings for his viewpoints and sounded like an idiot every time he opened his mouth. His lines were super cheesy and I couldn’t take him seriously. I wish he would have used that anger to try and destroy wakanda and expose wakanda for the hypocritical government that it was
Killmonger would have become a prisoner of war and most likely enslaved for his crimes against the throne. He knew this and chose death. Thus the slave comparison. I do agree that I wish the film delved deeper into his philosophies and high intellect. It was just glazed over too quickly but I get that there was a lot to cram into the film. Things may have been shot but ended up on the cutting room floor. Fingers crossed for the Blu-ray! ;-)
I like to think they made him speak like he did in the movie to make him seem more American because most of the people speaking in the movie were Wakandans. They wanted him to seem more out of place than his people because he was an outcast and he was still quite intelligent in the movie. That was more of a front he purposely played of talking like that so he would lead everybody to think he was simple minded and his theologies would be easy to understand with no hidden agendas. Whatever his objectives were you couldn’t tell what if he was seriously as smart as he was until he changed his dialect like for example at the museum (I won’t spoil it). There was a clear change in how he approached said person at the end. Last but not least it makes sense for him to talk like he did because he was raised in New York where it’s known that the way they speak can be incredibly different and that he was from the ghetto. Just what I thought about it since his characters was more of an activist than a villain.
What i would like to see is Black panther loosing to Erik Killmonger and leaving Wakanda (BUT that was his plan all along because in the middle of the movie he realised that he can't defend Wakanda and earth at the same time), because he has to defend earth from Thanos and doesn't want to leave wakanda defenceless, Erik Killmonger is a good choice to be the defender of Wakanda, and he could return in Black panther 2 and take it back, or after Thanos leaves earth then he could come back during the second or third act and take it back. But that's not going to happend from the trailer in infinity wars it looks like Black Panther is still the king, and that's what makes me not wanting to go and see this movie, i see no high-stakes, for me atleast they should have released black panther before the infinity wars trailer or the trailer after the release of the movie.
I saw Black Panther! It was amazing! Erik was fully realized for me. His methods were villainous, but not his motivations. The character development and portrayal was beautifully done. From beginning to end, it was wonderful.

To forgive a wrong heals the one offended immensely more than the one who committed the offense. One will live. The other will implode in a self perpetuating stew of resentment. Pick the target. Whatever the impetus, this truth is for all human beings. It is fundamentally true for every culture. Charles Baylor lmao ya dont think theres any white people that worked on this two lmaoo this movie had to be passed by all those white guys at disney and marvle
GritsnBeans lmaoo nah
stellvia hoenheim too fucking bad the movie was way better than what the bull shot that just came out your mouth
OHHHHHH A NEW COMICS EXPLAINED VIDEO!! Is my reaction literally every day. Rob Corps for life!!
Killmonger is the best Marvel villain
Hands down.
Character
I'm not going to lie Rob that is one of the reasons I listen to you your voice no homo but I fux with your voice it's calming and relaxing
I’ve seen Black Panther twice already and my god! 😳
Diggin' the Cobra Buckle on Killmonger's vest in the movie poster art at the end.
The movie is brilliant!
Good morning sir!!!! Comics explained for my morning is better than coffee!!!!!
Seeing it tonight and super pumped!
spot on with the predictions of killmonger in the movie !
Great video Rob im going to see Black Panther Movie 2times .
3 for me
Charles Baylor I'll probably go see tonight to so it's gonna be 3 times gotta Support.
Hell Yeah! It's a must
Love how the movie changed the back story of killmonger! It was so powerful!
I already saw it lives up to the hype
I really hope they decide to bring Killmonger back for the second film. Also, he has a 5 issue mini series that's a prelude to his arrival to Wakanda. Maybe we can cover it?
Batman issue 36 and 37(best things coming out of dc)👍👍.Rob please can you cover the story.
Congratulations on the golden play button. I haven't been on the channel for a while but I'm happy for your success.
He made a synthetic version of the herb and had super strength and senses.
He offered it to villians to entice them to join him
Joel Armour Yep some information he said was plain wrong
Watched the Black Panther this morning. Great movie💯 Gonna watch it again ltr
Anyone else hit the bell to make sure you never miss out on his sexy voice?
Lord Corporal if they didn't.... They should
That chronicle reference in the beginning. Great movie.
love your videos & voice, but that whole "make sure you hit that little bell so you never miss my sexy voice" is a bit offsetting...
It's a bit cringe worthy lol but he's only joking
offsetting? How? it's a joke.
I agree, its not something you wanna hear every video...
Yo profile pic got me
I hope they somehow bring killmonger back in the future,he was a true villain.
First! Black panther rockeed!
Max Shabazz you are 3rd
I agree 100%. Fucking loved it.
Seeing it again tomorrow
Damn, this video and explanation on Eric's origins has me beyond hype to see Black Panther!
This whole video was about black panther. Not erik killmonger
Loved the movie! Killmonger was a beast, my fav character in the movie, would LOVE to see a Blk Panther vs Blade mashup with a Storm cameo!
You rob what do you think is blade a hero cause a lot of people say this is the first black superhero movie with a black person in the leading role when they seem to forget about blade but some are claiming he's not a hero
Blade is MORE of a hero, he actively tries to rid the world of evil rather then trying to keep his advanced city hidden.
professor chaos blade and spawn are both anti heroes
Now I finally understand what graphic novels and trade paperbacks are, cheers Rob!
Thanos had mind
Asgard has space
Asgard hid Reality in a remote place
The collector or tinkerer (i forget) had power
Sorcerer Supreme had Time (only one)
Finally, the soul stone id MIA
Yharo Torres I am referring to the original locations. Aether in dimensional rift discovered through Earth. Tesseract in a crypt on Earth. Time gem with the ancient one on Earth. And it seems likely the soul gem could pop up on Earth in wakanda during infinity war. So 4 with locations found on Earth prior to events that occur in the movies
Yharo Torres Guaranteed 3, but possibly 4
Soul Stone is probably in the mountain of Wakanda
Rob you were RIGHT! Killmonger was unlike any villain Marvel's cinematic universe has presented! This is the first time I've seen anyone empathize with a antagonist. Sure people say, "oh yeah [villain] is so ruthless and maniacal, they're great" but here you have people saying KM wanted what was best for his people, just by any means necessary. I really wouldn't mind seeing him return in a sequel
Kris Kream oh right because no person in fictional work has ever been brought back to life. thank you for that incredible insight
Kris Kream all I'm saying is I wouldn't mind if there was a way he appeared in another sequel. dead or alive. das it.
So if Killmonger is just an excellent, but normal, human, how would Bruce Wayne do against T'challa? I thought the Black Panther was on a different level from even exceptional, plain humans.
He already did a video about Batman vs Black Panther. Check it out.
Marcello Genovese Batman did not fight superman alone or without the help of a new suit.

He was AWESOME!!!
Ugh I hate this film already.
Watching it tomorrow and it won't even let me sleep smh.
Leslie Knope You seem to hate everything.
What about parks
Sebastien-Loik Ntsangou-Kanda did.. did you read the entire comment, mate?
@LK
As I see it now, it's liquid sarcasm so I don't know what they saw.
SuperShanko you get it.
You weren't lying. He definitely was a relatable and interesting villain.
But the movie was good though
Saw it last night. Awesome movie!
Hey Rob, did you know that toilet paper finally became splinter free in 1935. I think this deserves an explained video
I just found you on TH-cam and I am impressed with how well researched the video is. So many great facts I never knew about before! New subscriber 💯
If i see people recording this movie im snitchin.
LOL true
I'll pirate it cause i don't pay for hollywood movies anymore =3 . Go snitchin but it wont matter.
most pirated movie copies come from asian countries and are filmed form the projector room. good luck snitching :^)
GritsnBeans get out of here
Hey Rob, I'm new to your channel and new to comic book in general so I don't know everything you have covered but I think a cool "one-off" video would be some pretty underwhelming villains doing some pretty incredible things. I think that would be a cool vid.
@comicsexplained Hey rob, I was just wondering about all the possibilities the new ultimate universe has. I was also wondering as to who you think would be able to write the new stories if they ever get picked up?
Got it right again! Good job man. You are the best.
Wtf are you saying? We saw Black Panther in "Winter Soldier".
I stand corrected. I have a hard time telling snorefests apart.
Super dope, love the info and back stories. Narration is always on point, totally appreciate you good sir!
So as BP is essentially Marvel’s Batman, Killmonger is their Bane as well? As much of a DC fanboy as I am, Killmonger seems like a much more intense and interesting villain, even more pumped for the movie now!
Nah marvel's batman is Moon Knight
Dude I just discovered your channel just to find you got so many damn videos i don't even know which one to watch next
SCARLET WITCH AND BROTHER VOODOO EXPLAINED
Chronicle was a sick movie!
Fingers crossed for the Blu-ray! ;-)
Thank you! This version was a watered-down version of the comics which was muddled so much to avoid dealing with that very conflict.
Thanks for all you do, Rob.
Dceu phase 2 hommmmmmiiiieeeeeee
Bil Al yesssss
Edward Cruz lets comment on all his vids so he notices 😂😂😂😂😂
Excellent insight Rob! Thanks for your diligence my man!!
rob sucks!
jk love your "sexy"voice
Seen it last night. Freaking amazing!
DreamMaker he dies at the end of the movie
DreamMaker you were right, there were no high stakes, you can predict how it'll go with out seeing the movie, it just looks cool
