I love my Batec! It’s amazing. I get to go hiking and off road with ease. I’m looking at a firefly as I travel alone, it look smaller and easier to transport. My smart drive is OK but I feel like these two beat it especially as I spend most of my time outdoors. Batec, firefly, freewheel and smart drive are all life changing inventions! Gives us so much freedom!
I have a tri-ride T-rocks with the 20inch fatbike wheel and duel battery. Massive 40+ mile range in very hilly Cornwall and is limited to 25mph. If it's going on long road trips to the coast or moors, climbing big hills, going off road on bike trails, getting on the train or going to the shop my T-rocks does it all.
I have both. And use them together sometimes. This video is old and the smart drive has been greatly improved. Now has tap to start, push tracker and support app for smart phones. I use the firefly for speed and dirt/grass, and the smart drive to help on steep hills.if you dont need the speed, a device called the freewheel may be better to go with the smart drive to add that off-road ability. But some may find it harder to put on than the firefly. Note, the firefly has been improved too. Much easier to attach/detach now.
The CIL glad to here it. Both of them are must haves in my book. For various reasons of course. But pairing the freewheel with the smart drive does close the gap between it and the firefly. Looking to get a freewheel myself too for that very reason. Thanks for the response.
If you put a freewheel on the front of the wheelchair and the smartdrive on the back it really makes those off road terrains accessible. I use my freewheel without my smartdrive sometimes and can easily roll all around my grassy back yard and it can be removed super easy.
I tried the smart drive on my gravel driveway and it could not get me up the slope, I opted for the Servo power assist wheels no problem getting up the steepest hills, problem with those is the weight, but they are tough and I never ran out of battery power. I am testing the Twion power assist at the moment they got me up the slope on gravel, they're much Lighter with a shorter range and in one longer day out, they seemed to last the distance, I still had power the rest of the day at home.
@@origamidragon4883 jennie !you are thinking about your teenage daughter but i am thinking for replacing car and bike by this portable car ,bike for my business and personal life work it is good to have if i have to go anywhere singly for business work and personal work as it saves lots of time money energy and efforts which are wasted in taking bus metro train walking by foot and expenses for purchasing bus tickets petrol purchases and auto and taxi charges and wiwasting of time in finding here and there. I can be used in anyway it depends on the person in which manner they use disabled person for their disability ,professional for saving time money and energy and efforts.
When you mount something from 3rd party on the front of your chair like that Firefly or a Freewheel that lifts your front casters off of the ground, you are putting additional strain on your wheelchair frame. Which can cause it to break. This will void your warranty and you will be out of luck. Lesson learned on my end with a very expensive quickie titanium chair.. A company like Ti that builds a power assist reinforced frame was the only direction I could take to make sure my warranty was not voided.
Uruguay
This is a good comparaison video of both drives. It doesn't put down either one. The price tag for the SmarDrive sin't that much. Let me explain. Right now, Québec government pays for two wheelchairs, one manuaal and a motorised. I use both, one for inside and the other outside for long distances. The price tag for both is about 9000$ CAD. I have CP and love to use my muscles.I'm 64 soon (it's me in the photo). I rather have one chair that I can use in 'man or moto modes' without the hassle of trying to find someone to transfer me. My manual is truly a 'Rolls-Royce' for me. Very comfortable. Problem with my motorised one is when I stay in it for long période my back heurts. I have to tilt it back to reduce the trainà. I don't have to do similar with my Rolls-Royce. Me, I would go for Smart Drive because I don't need to ask anyone to take it off when at tables or even going to the toilet using a lift device such as the ARJO Sara 3000. As I said in the beginning both are good for different usage and persans' needs.
Me gustaría saber si se puede conseguir y a que precio?? Mi hermana anda en sillas de ruedas y le gusta salir mucho y a donde vivimos hay bastante caminos de tierra ya que resulta pesado para su andar... Me encanta esta opción ... Gracias!!! Espero y me puedan ayudar
I bought a first generation Smartdrive. Paid $6k. Sent it back 2 times for failures in the connection between battery and motor. The third time, the technician was a real jerk told me he wouldn't fix it again that it wasn't their problem anymore. Its sitting in a box. Dont recommend it. Use your hard earned money on something better.
Power ON buenos días o tardes quisiera saber si smartdriver y el firefly está disponibles en la ciudad de México y donde los venden y cuánto cuestan de favor necesito la respuesta en español gracias
I am annoyed i used a smart drive that had been used as their model so it was rightfully broken lol and didnt work for me. So i decided against the smart drive throwing me out of my wheelchair so i wanted to get a rio only to find out a company that make wheelchairs more accessible will not expand past a 22inch cushion 😤
What is the justification for a cost 10X more than a ultra high end able bodied persons two wheel electric scooter with less range??? this is basically the same device with only one wheel and a wireless interface and that justifies $5400 more?? Come on, just because i am in a chair does not mean i do not know when i am getting ripped off....... Oh I get it the Able bodied have a choice, and for the disabled its a nessesity so lets rip them off, you are Ghoules.

How did you get them ?

G Neal very true. And the freewheel is only $599 vs. $6000+. However some will struggle more to take it on and vs the firefly.

I liked the pro and con of both. Nice job
I wish I could afford one of either for my 15 year old daughter
Agreed, it looks great but I can't afford it for my 15 yr old son either. I guess we will have to continue being their power assists

Awesome, but my insurance won’t cover the cost. I have carpotunnel issues in my right arm as well as a bone spur n right shoulder. Life goes on
The Firefly looks way more fun tho hahaha

My SmartDrive went for $7131 retail - insurance covered it so I only had to pay a fraction of that.
@@SnowySpiritRuby Cool :)
I have a Smart Drive but like the looks of the firefly.
Very informative, thank you!
I prefer something compact like the smartdrive but not the price so I built my own using power skateboard parts for $500
Please share how you did this 🙏🏻
The smartdrive mx2 worth every penny!!!
I love my Firefly , I purchase it three years ago .

Do they have any for left hand use, since my brother's arm is useless for now?
I love the music at 1.30... with the guy coming up the hill at the speed of light!! Ahaha... Nice video.

Nice video guys!
I want to purchase it
This is old technology, yet it costs more than $6000. Something is wrong.
Insurance,medical system, etc...
@@pyramydseven You can get them for less than $1,000 on Ebay
@@Pennee101 i will check that out. Wow, thank you so much. Happy 4th.
Great idea
I would be afraid that the Firefly could lose traction going uphill since most of the weight will be shifted far back.
True, I got a smart drive hopefully it can help me get to my classes
