That shield is a great idea. Keeps the flame contained and also heats the bottom of the joint. I didn’t see you flow any nitrogen, while brazing. This is very important with these small system’s. I always pinch off the access valves and remove them after I’m done, to maintain the hermetically sealed system. I’ve seen to many leak, and the charge is very small.
What kind of torch are you using? I’ve never seen a tip like that. It looks like its much easier and lighter than my oxy/acetylene torch. I’ve been hauling around those heavy tanks for years. I’m ready for something lighter and not so bulky.
Tom Close its ever a leak on these units. Usually the gauges just don’t move with the compressor running and it’s a blockage in the drier or a bad compressor
One thing that I still don't understand is why the horsepower of compressors are not written on them, when a compressor goes bad how will somebody know the horsepower to buy for the replacement and besides does all the household refrigerators use the same horsepower or different horsepower. I need to buy a replacement compressor now and I don't know the type to buy as in the rating to buy. I will really appreciate it if you can help me out on how to know the horsepower of compressors.

Very good job with saftety considerations. Wow, you are.
Any idea if new current LG models have updated compressors that correct the failure issues? Any way I could tell if I were buying one?

bernzomatic ts8000 (not the best choice) and DIY heat shield (made of sheet metal from home depot)
That heat shield is an excellent idea!
What torch do you recommend? @@ApplianceRepairinColorado
Seriously tho I was thinking the same thing I want one now lol
@@ApplianceRepairinColorado you should make a video of how you made that, its a really cool idea man I would love to see how you did it.

No need to replace the freon dryer/filter? Nevermind I see it now, good job.
does anything need to be done beofre the cutting of the pipes?
Yes. The refrigerant must be recovered.
Yes must be recovered, your not suppose to let it out in the atmosphere.
what if its just a leak can you find leak and repair and refill lines??

Btw, great video!

Lg just left an hour ago… I got a shiny new compressor!
Did they charge you anything and did they happen to mention wether new models are improved?
@@whatfreedom7 no charge fortunately still under warranty. They did a hardware upgrade but that was about it.

q percentage% silver solder
Those LC compressors are junk
Sorry, no need to run any Thorazine/allcohol solution through capillary tube to prevent moisture or restrictions! Oh what about a good vacum? K.......
Nothing besides refrigerant and oil. What ever else you put in may not boil off during the evacuation.
