However, it seems that "Proto-Hive" is not so much a species name as it is a descriptor. In XXV: Dictata ir Dakaua, the Ecumene use the term to describe Taox. "Mercenary explorers [disposable class] discovered an organism frozen in stasis deep within the hull. She claims to be Taox, member of a proto-Hive species."

I doubt it but I wonder if Xivu Arath would be in Light Fall or will be slain by us in a season. Crota, and Oryx were essentially powerful Hive Gods, so Xivu Arath might. But then again Witch Queen, Taken King, God of War. Also since she managed to destroy Tarabotl, homeworld of the Cabal Empire...that is no small feat, and is a fairly new. You missed a point here. Orash wasn't Oryx when she consumed the King Morph. She became Ouryx. She didn't become Oryx till after he took the power to Take

Having him change his name from "Auryx" to "Oryx" would be astronomically pointless if the names were pronounced the same. Aurash was Oryx's original name when he was still female and a member of the Krill race. There is no race known as the Proto-Hive. What you are referring to is the Krill. Aurash and her sisters, upon making the deal with their gods, were allowed to reshape their bodies into whatever form they desired. Aurash turned into a male and took the name Auryx. Not long after, Auryx and his sisters literally turned the Krill race into the Hive race by introducing them to the worm god larvae which all Hive carry inside them. Many, many years later, Auryx would learn the ability to Take, by slaying one of the gods which originally gave him his power, and communing with the Darkness. After learning the ability to Take, he again changed his name, for a THIRD TIME, to Oryx.
The *"Dead"* worm talking to one of the sisters and the sister being all "yo our dad was talking about how this worm would whisper shit to him and I lowkey head it now". As she proceeds to lead them to the Worm Gods. Interesting plot detail

You missed a very important part in the origin and my favorite moment in hive history. On the home planet, oryx’s father had a vision of a catastrophic event. This event was when all the moons (10-20 I believe) would rise together and create a tsunami that would purge the entire world. Visualize how high that wave is.

I think you left out that the hive have to conquer or they will die, in the grimoire it is mentioned that the hive made a deal with the worm gods in which their larvae live in the hive giving them power, under the condition they have to constantly be growing in power or the larvae will consume them (I think). Also great video, the destiny lore is very interesting and it is cool to see someone sharing the information that some would consider hard to find and not care to look for themselves.

I also find it fascinating, that you mention the transition to female to males, as it does resemble quite a number of our own earthly species of animals and fish. But I haven't come across any text stating that all hive are born female, or even with genders if any at all.

Enough time was bought from Oryx conversing with aurash for it to simulate the events the resulted in oryx learning to take.
When Savathûn was gifted the vex mind she ended up learning how to take herself. Semi-unrelated, she also learned necromancy from Nokris (the second son of Oryx)

When she took the King Morph, she became Auryx, and only after killing Akka and learning how to take, she became Oryx.
