Ok, this was really basic, yet I came out of it with one very interesting finding - when using the Crop effect, there are draggable handles on sides. I have NEVER noticed them before!!! People are always learning :-).

You can also use it to make an old tv powering off effect by animated cropping top and bottom from 0-45.5% and then left and right for the same ending up with a dot in the center that you raise all sides to 50% to close

Been a premiere editor for almost 20 years, and I appreciate how you can always learn something new watching videos like these. Had no ideas about the cropping function from the monitor. Thanks for sharing!

What an educational video on Crop effect, I can't believe that CROP can have that many functions. Simply Awesome.

I am taking the basics premiere pro class in skillshare looking to finish it to take the advanced class, and although I already knew a lot of the basics that he talks about, I ALSO didn't know a lot of the other basic things that he teaches, and I am already using the things he talks about to make editing my youtube videos a lot faster and to add new things into my videos. So I would highly recommend taking the skillshare class if you're looking to learn how to use the program!
Also, love the energy of the videos!

You can use it like a transition , if there is something or someone passing in to the frame , you can crop it frame by frame while it's moving till the end of the clip , while it's passing there will be the second clip under the transition crop clip

Easier way to split up a screen into multiple clips using Crop and Transform.
You add the two effects to your clip, *make sure* that Transform is above Crop, if it's the other way around it's not going to work.
Don't touch transform yet, crop your video to be in the size you want it to be (since you won't be using "Motion" to move your clips, you can crop in the percentage you want your split to be for example, if you want the clip to be in the left third of your frame, crop 66% from the right and you're done) then use transform to move your clip within the crop around. This is hard to explain so you should try it yourself but basically what it does is keep the crop properties you give it. And when you move your clip around with transform. Your clip stays within that crop window but the contents can be moved so you can center what you want the attention to stay on.
Using this also makes you able to do zooms and other animations with your clip in split screen without messing with it's borders. Put simply, your crop is now your mask.
