    The Spezza thing was so amazingly asshole-ish. After 2008 in Detroit, he seemed to do a lot more of this just stupid shit. Modano not playing, calling Commie to play in DET and then scratching him more often than not, being such a dick that Filppula left, then wanting them to sign Weiss who got hurt and then once he was healthy playing him at first but then giving him less and less time and then scratching him, signing Tootoo and then not playing him, wanting Dan Cleary back when he was pretty much in Philly, telling Holland to not put Jurco in Grand Rapids cause he'd play him...and then he didn't. So then Jurco couldn't be sent down anymore and instead of playing top 6 minutes in the AHL was playing at best 4th line minutes in Detroit. He knew he had this power and held it over people and the Wings still wanted to keep him knowing all of this.

    i think O-Dog is correct, Babcock was looking thru their phones looking for something to hold against that player, maybe theres a fun pic of you puking off your balcony after a backyard BBQ, and Babcock sends the file to his computer via that apple app , then blows it up and has it made into a cardboard cutout and places it at the players entrance so all the players can see.. then calls him out for our for whatever reason Babcock wants it to be, you're irresponsible, whatever...how bout you just shake your players hand and say "nice to meet you, see ya at practice" Babcock is a supposed advocaat for mental health? , gimme a f'n break..all Babcock does is screw with players heads, how close do you think Franzen was from hurting himself, look it up. "The Line" was...finally...drawn with the Chicago sexual assault scandal, as far as a coach's behavior goes. Coaches are now under the microscope as never before.
    How much do you want to bet that Babcock was really trying to figure out if any of his players are gay?
    In any case, Babcock's problem is narcissism. This is classic manipulative NPD (narcissistic personality disorder) behavior, especially the inability to admit wrongdoing. The point is to gain insight into what his guys are into off the ice and what their personal life looks like, so as to hold it against them later on. It's part of the scam the NPD runs.

    • @jasperalberts7647
      @jasperalberts7647 ปีที่แล้ว

      It breaks the heart to think of how many depressive/anxious/substance abusing/self-harm initiating victims have been harmed by the largely still under-appreciated epidemic of NPD. It tears families apart and causes massive turnover in companies. Sadly social media and predatory sales/lending rewards narcissistic spectrum temperaments. Most Ns are beyond rehabilitation but yet are largely free to roam society.

    This doesn't happen every day - nor should you expect that - but this is why these guys are the best there is for this type of commentary and analysis. They had all cylinders firing in this segment. It is a remarkable story. Babcock won a cup, two gold medals, a world championship ... he was the most decorated, revered, respected coach in hockey. Everybody knew he was tough (little did we all know), but he won everywhere he went. To see this is tragic, disturbing and righteous all at the same time. For those who say he's done for the Hall ... you may be right, but what would you say about Quenneville? Three cups in five years ... sounds like Hall of Fame territory to me. He was badly damaged by that as it was arguably an even more disturbing situation but I think the damage to JQ is softening. Maybe we shouldn't be judging Babcock in the heat of the moment. People may look at it differently in 5 years.

    Even if he is a jerk, he's had a hall of fame career. In such a difficult industry it's not something to discredit at all, if there were some Olympics or Cup reunion he should be there. Babcock didn't cover up rape like Quenneville did, which DOES warrant a permanent exile from everything.

    O'Neill loves to froth at the mouth like a rabid dog, but the fact is that not everybody is of the same opinion. Patrick Marleau for example defended Babcock and said he liked the photo sharing with Babs when he was part of it.
    This seems to be the toughest subject for a few ex-players and Toronto fans, who are the worst fans in the league anyway. Sure, the Marner business was absolutely underhanded, but photo sharing of families is not in the same league. If he however did take somebody's phone and then scroll (which there's no corroborated evidence of), that would be absolutely wrong.
