      From Sky News, July 2024.
“Sir Keir Starmer will pledge to "fire the starting gun" on a closer relationship with Europe as he hosts a major summit, set to focus on Ukraine and migration.
The prime minister will welcome at least 45 European leaders to Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire for a meeting of the European Political Community (EPC), which was set up in the wake of Russia's invasion of Ukraine two years ago.”
This bloke has to go. He should take Cooper with him. I will never forget Cooper attempting to override Brexit after the vote. Cooper and her mealy-mouth swaggered into the House looking like butter wouldn’t melt, while stabbing Brexit voters right between the shoulder blades. She couldn’t have done that without the agreement of Mr ‘I love Trotsky’ Starmer himself. I have loathed them both from that moment on. They should both pay the price for such gross treachery.

I simply do not know how I will get through this winter. Although if I pushed for it I would get an another benefit but the only help I need is with food shopping. I live in a remote rural area with no services shops or anything. I do not own my own transport & what use is a free bus pass with no Bus Service. I just about manage with a delivery of shopping which I pay for. Labour were once the party of the poor & lowest paid workers . But they lost that years ago. The damage they have already inflicted on the UK within only a few days is far worse than what Hitler did to those he hated in ww2. Please help those of us who need it. I do not want charity or state hand outs. I never expected to live in a luxuary manner after retirement (worked from 15 years most with an employer who never had a pension scheme ) I just want to be able to cover everyday things like eating & at least some heating on the coldest days . I'm 72 years old and never took a great deal of interest in politics. This is the UK and pretty much everything operates within similar patterns - free education, free health care at the point of delivery, a balance between socialism and capitalism, each of us with different preferences and ideals. But this time I've become more interested than ever and I cannot believe what we have ended up with in office. I lay the initial blame at the door of the Tories. They spent so much time with their periodic infighting that they handed control to Labour without Labour having to do a thing or offer an idea of what their plans in office would be. Now we know. Their plan was / is / and will remain to lie to the public. And no matter how many recognised organisations refute their lies (IFS, OBR, Bank of England, economists, newspaper business pages, newspaper editorials, uncle Tom Cobbley and all) they go on lying. And when they're not lying, they're threatening the population. And no matter how you count the vote, and what percentages you apply, they have a thumping parliamentary majority WITHOUT OPPOSITION. This has not started well. It will most certainly not end well. And, no matter what we want, WE CANNOT STOP IT.

As for taking away winter fuel payments from pensioners that's a total disgrace, and if they get there way will be taxing pensions if they have enough money coming in I'm an Army veteran and there already taxing my pension which is a double whammy as you was taxed on your pay when serving your country now getting taxed on your pension. Come October there will be more tax rises I can just about guarantee that, I do hope that all pensioners who is entitled to pension credits that hasn't applied for them upto now does as it has been said will cost £4 billion pound if every pensioners gets it which if you take government's figures into account would save just over £1billion if take away winter fuel payments is going to cost more and save nothing.

Starmer nailed his colours well and truly with his opposition to Brexit from 2016, his silence when antisemitism ran rife under corbyn and 10:38 his taking of the knee and legitimisiing of the BLM protests even after police officers had been injured. Did we really expect anything different now he's PM?

People in charge are liars - and worse than that - criminals - the Krays didn't make their money from extortion and night clubs - they made it from providing young boys to government MP's and thus they were in their pockets. Not only are they liars - they are sexual deviants - backer of pimps - not female I might add - the government prefered "young men" - where's feminism now, male rape doesn't exist - f**k off. If a member of parliament had asked me to go for a drink when I was younger I would have told him to s**k his own d**k.

All we the public hope for is a positive and fair governance where we could see improvements to our standards of living and for a voice in the handling of our affairs within our country and the world. When no one is listening, people shout louder and when ignored, become frustrated and because it has gone on for decades, there becomes a point at which (to use a metaphor) blood boils. It’s obvious that no government in my 77 year lifetime has ever really listened to the people, that desperation creeps in and respect vanishes. Do governments work to serve the public or is that too much to expect? In my humble opinion there is no far right, just pushed too far!

To be fair to the 'out of hours contact' thing, I walked away from my (Post Office) driving job in the 1990's shortly after we started using in cab phones. Allowing the bosses to phone us at any time and have us driving here there and everywhere.
That might be me and an aversion to phones though. I still only use a £10 'dumb' phone to allow me to receive texts to log into my online banking.
But that's how people should treat jobs in my opinion. Stop getting yourself into so much debt and responsibility that you are almost forced into remaining in jobs that you're not happy doing. I always just quit without a backwards glance when I'd had enough of a job. Never married and had kids until we could afford to pay cash for a family home. I must be weird.
