    Another great video. I've been to goblin valley and hiked the little wild horse canyon. I did the loop. Loved it. I did it in conjunction with Capital Reef. I think I remember that area you camped at, it's on the way to the slot canyon, several folks were camping over there.

    • @GrandAdventure
      @GrandAdventure  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's the spot, Eric -- right on the road between the slot and the state park. The loop is definitely better; we didn't have the weather on our side this day. And for the adventurous, Ding & Dang Canyons are better still -- there's some fun challenge on that loop. Appreciate it as always!

    Very unique campsite!
    Can you imagine hiking through Goblin Valley at night under a full moon? 😳
    You know there is a miniature slot canyon type hike down in the south end of Lake Havasu? It is also tight in spots and there is a rope in one spot to assist in the decent or ascent.
    Thanks Marc!

    Hey Mark, awesome spot, and awesome photography EXCEPT for that dirty sensor. I have been a pro photographer for too many years now, and one of the necessities is CLEANING YOUR SENSOR BEFORE EVERY SHOOT. It's easy. Just get a good quality kit with swabs for your size sensor, and some cleaning solution, and NEVER have video/stills ruined by sensor dirt. **ALSO the larger the aperture you shoot at, the less noticable the sensor shots are. Get a high quality variable ND filter(s) for your lens(s), to maintain exposure, and shoot wider. Have a look at Hyperfocal distances for your lens/sensor combo, to shoot MUCH wider, while still maintaining your desired DOF. LASTLY, practice better lens changing skills to avoid getting dust/dirt in your camera body, that'll end up on your sensor. Hope this helps!

      Thanks Andrew! We try to mix up the musical styles within each video. Hey Marc, love the video's. Hey question for you, I know you use a drone for your videos a lot and wondering if you know of this regulation requiring a 107 permit to fly? I was on Facebook and someone had posted that they got finesd because they did not have this certification,. I got nervous as I am leaving for a trip this July and wanting to use a drone.

    • @GrandAdventure
      @GrandAdventure  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, part 107 is an FAA commercial UAS pilot certification required if you use a drone for commercial purposes; for example, you hire yourself out for real estate work, etc. Recreational or hobby flyers do not need part 107 certification. However, rules are soon changing and expected to take effect later this year that will require testing for hobby flyers as well, but not as rigorous as the testing is for 107 certification.

    I have to watch it with sound muted. Music preferences are very personal. I always prefer no music while watching youtube.

    • @GrandAdventure
      @GrandAdventure  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      We definitely get that. In fact, the music in our videos doesn't match our own personal taste, either. However, you're missing out a bit by muting it as we go to great pains to a) use music that conveys the mood of the segment, and b) match the music to the visual elements on the screen, which takes a lot of work to do. However, to each his/her own! 😉 We're just happy that you're watching, thank you.

    I am unsure if you went over it in the video, but I am so curious to know what type of wildlife can survive out in a place like that.

    • @GrandAdventure
      @GrandAdventure  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gherro, for one thing there's a ton of pronghorn antelope out there. Rabbits, snakes, geckos, birds, coyotes, bighorn sheep, insect life... It looks inhospitable to us, but there's a surprising diversity of wildlife that calls the San Rafael Desert home.

      Good morning Shayne! Our favorite up there is the upper part of Shadow Mountain th-cam.com/video/2ascEHqlnt8/w-d-xo.html . We got our 26' TT up there but admittedly the road is quite rough and steep above the large open area at the bottom. We've got good ground clearance, too, and Airstreams are not always so. I guess it depends on how brave and comfortable you are. If nothing else, park at the bottom and walk the road a bit, and if you're uncomfortable after that, just get a spot with the others at the bottom of the road. Happy trails, and let us know if we can help further! Thank you very much for your viewership!

    Hi there! Just found your channel and subscribed immediately! We are actually heading to this area tomorrow for the first time to explore there. Quick question for you - Since we aren't familiar with the area, I wondered if you know where the closest dump/fill station might be. I know there is one at the Goblin Valley Campground, however, since it's closed due to Covid-19 restrictions I worry access won't be possible.

    • @GrandAdventure
      @GrandAdventure  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you Tressa! However, Carbon, Emery and Grand Counties are currently prohibiting non-residents from staying overnight in their counties, even boondocking on public land, as a COVID-19 precaution. And Little Wild Horse/Goblin Valley is within Emery County.

    • @4eternity1

      In a typical slot canyon flash flood it can be raining 20 miles away, yet send a 20-foot wall of water careening down the canyon at 30-40 mph. It seems that every year, someone dies in a slot canyon flood around here, and it's so easily avoided. Thanks as always for watching. G&Z!
