Excellent video. We stayed at the same Yurt several years ago! Didn't have the nice table back then. And been to Goblin's Lair a couple times. The 2nd time we just missed a group of about 8 that had just rappelled. Would've been cool to see. Next time you go, there's a cave near the start of the Lair's exit. You can see the entrance at 6:22 just to the right of Tina's right shoulder. It zig zags for about 20 feet before it gets lower and lower until you have to crawl. Eventually it got too tight (and freaky) to continue. Head lamps required. Raises the excitement meter. Anyway, thanks for bringing back those wonderful memories.
We took a rope there years ago and were going to do the technical route but ended up doing something else instead. Maybe one of these times...Not sure on the cave. I'm not big on super tight spaces.
That was the best footage of this place I've ever seen, so thankyou. My second visit to this awesome place was in 2003. I took a mate, we camped there. The next day we hiked the loop of Little Wild Horse and Bell slot canyons. I didn't know of the existence of the Goblins Lair caves, and there certainly wasn't that fab Yurt around during that visit ! I love the Southwest of the US... SO ...much, but now 8O years old, my visits to your wonderful country are over. I enjoy your vids and banter, so keep em coming please.
Thers no shortage of amazing scenery in the 4 Corners States. Thanks for letting us all share this little bit. Cant wait to see what's next. I can see why sci-fi movies film here as an alien landscape. 🏜️🛖🖖✌️
I wanted to do Goblin Valley on our last trip, just didn't have the time. The list keeps getting longer on things to do on our next trip to UT. Great video and music as always. Thanks for taking us along. :)
Jerry, I think the fact that you had to slow down has made your videos better in some ways. You are still sharing beautiful, incredible sites with less stress on yourself and your viewers. I noticed your wife (who is still a 10, you lucky lucky guy) curses less, but is still smarter than you. 😀 Your adaptation has been a slow, but great pleasure to watch. Thanks for taking us places we might even be able to get to!
I'm sure I'll get back to doing stupid things eventually. But it is nice to slow down and enjoy things without all the extra work sometimes. And I agree. Tina is definitely the smart, good looking one of the two of us.
@@JerryArizona And to show my musical taste is not entrenched in the early 1700's, I offer the following musical commentary from my youth: Slow down, you move too fast You got to make the morning last Just kicking down the cobblestones Looking for fun and feelin groovy
Saw this place a few years ago in July on a 100+ degree day. Needless to say we didn’t stay long, but really enjoyed it. Those Goblin 👺 hoodoos act like radiators when you walk amongst them, and make it feel even hotter! I believe some sci-fi movie(s) have been filmed there. 9:03 Kissing Rocks 🪨 🪨. Didn’t see those caves though. So cool 😎. We’ll need to go back on a better day. Thanks for taking us along!
Absolutely magical! Jerry, you and Tina are so blessed to be able to go do this trip. I've never heard of it but will certainly put it on my bucket list, for sure. Your drone footage and editing are so expertly done, you guys will probably put a dent in the travel channel on cable tv. Happy hiking and watch those steep, slippery slides. 😉😂
Tina always has the right response to your comments. The Wild Horse Windows are amazing. You missed the neat little slot which is just to the south and there’s also a petroglyph panel just up from it. Done this hike a few times as well Goblin Valley. We were over a week later than your visit and did Crack Canyon behind the reef and the drove on to Escalante. You would like that hike. Thanks for sharing Goblin’s Lair as we have done that one.😀👍
Another beautiful spot. Loved seeing it! And what a fantastic place to see the solar eclipse without other people around you. Did you notice a drop in temperature? I remember that from years back when a total eclipse was visible here in europe. The yurt looked cozy 👍🏻😄
At first glance, it just looks like some interesting rock formations. But there's a lot more out there. We didn't even scratch the surface this trip. (If you ever go, make sure to at least add Little Wildhorse canyon onto your trip. Great slot canyon nearby.)
Oh, awesome! So glad that you got to experience going inside Goblin's Lair. Only SLIGHTLY envious you managed to get Yurt #1. But super glad you took advantage of the permit to fly your drone. Walking through those goblins is one thing... but flying over is a whole other story when it comes to video. And as always, yours didn't disappoint. 🙂 Great video. Hope you both had a great time there.
Wow, I didn't realize that park was so interesting. I'll admit it, I've been lazy in the past, and passed up chances to stop by for a night when in the area because I didn't think there was all that much to see (given everything else in that part of UT). And now I regret it! But I'm glad you two had such a nice time.
Honestly, I thought the same thing. We went a few years back and spent maybe an hour in the valley and left. But I got the yurt and started researching and found some other spots that I'd missed. It was a great day/night. And so many other things to see in the area.
Planned the whole trip around that yurt and it did not disappoint. Glad you've gotten to experience them. Yurts are always a good, rustic time, especially with scenery like this.
Hi Jerry, i am so jealous that you get to live in this wonderful corner of the world! Great video again, really nice shots and presented by you in your usual likeable way. I visited Goblin State Park once over 30 years ago, but only briefly visited the "penis" area. If I go there again, I'll have to take my sticks with me. Greetings from Germany, Martin
The "I just can't believe where we are" soundtrack at the Yurt is exactly what I'd say too! 🔥🔥🙌🏾 And that footage of you going down behind the Yurt is hilarious. 😂
You always seem to post when I’m going through your videos looking for a new one to watch😂. This is incredible! I honestly had no idea Goblin’s lair looked like that! Sketchy as hell for sure, but worth it haha
Such unique landscape, almost like sandcastles! What an experience for you both! And to stay in that Yurt, how wonderful! Thanks again for sharing another awesome experience!
That drone footage could’ve been from Mars❤️ My wife isn’t as much of a fan of camping as I am. When she saw your accommodations she said “that wouldn’t yurt my feelings”😂
It was a blast. That climb into the Lair was sketch with one arm though. You know I'm going to make you and Troy take me up Praying Hands when I'm healed, right?
Jerry you missed out on rappeling both of those! Wild horse window is cool because it's like a magnifying glass. So, the rappel looks huge but is only 90 ish ft. Also also, goblins lair there has two options to rappel down. The second variation is cooler because you come down through center of the ceiling.
I’ve been wanting to rappel goblin’s lair for years now. Even took all the gear once but it was snowing and we didn’t have time. One of these days. Didn’t realize you could rappel through the window though.
Nice. Dorking around on the internet, reading more crummy and divisive articles, I save the best for last - the latest Jerry & Tina video. I feel much better, now. 😊
Well I'll tell ya you have some amazing places to visit where you all live. I discovered the western desert way back when I was wee bit of a youth and found it pretty pleasing, surprisingly so. Where I come from it's the lake district, I'm surrounded by great lakes and have ventured just about every adventure they offer. Aye, but I love contrast and know I would really enjoy a trip back out to the desert landia. Really like that first cave with the eclipse and all the ancient wall paintings. Then that trip to Goblin Valley, I did hear about way back when. That was another very amazing place. So much so I start to get the notion you guyz are some really lucky sunza-bitches, to be near such amazing landscapes!!
This is on pinned on my Google Maps (my bucket list... All those green flag - want to go)... Added this spot as a stop on to this year's fall trip! Amazing video, thank you for sharing!
Goblin Valley is such a special place. We were just by there a week ago or so on our way to Capitol Reef. It was pouring rain so we decided to skip it this time.
Love your stuff, and I'm also from Phoenix (50 year native!) I've been to Goblin Valley once, but just the main part of the park. I learned about the Wildhorse Window after the fact from another channel I follow and I'm hoping to get back there this fall. What time of day was it when you visited? Was it difficult to find? Thanks!
We went mid morning, I think. Maybe 9~10? It wasn't hard to find, but there aren't any real trail markings once you're on the rock. But you can see the alcove where the window is from the parking lot, so it's not too bad. We had the trail marked on our GPS but didn't need to use it.
Heading there in two weeks! I only spent about three hours in the park last time (in the aughts) and always regretted the short visit. But I did get some seriously bad@ss photos that hang on my living room wall.
@@JerryArizona I just returned to the East Coast. I did the Little Wild Horse-Bell loop first and then did Goblin's and Goblette's Lair in the afternoon. The climb down into Goblin's Lair was indeed quite sketchy, I did the last third down the middle but should have gone down on the right! It was NOT scrambling, that was definitely climbing. But overall, despite the acrophobic adrenaline rush, it was an amazing experience.
Sadly the first time i heard og goblin valley state park was when it was on the national news. A family of assholes were knocking down a couple of the goblins and filming it. Im going to look it up now and plan a trip . Thanks guys.
Hadn't heard that. I hate when people do that kind of thing. But I definitely recommend it. There are a lot of other amazing places out in that area too, so it's worth a look.
No idea. Didn't look that way on my end. Sometimes the monitor/TV/phone you're watching on can't keep up with information where the image is scrolling. But I also shot the drone shots in 24p and was going too fast. Wish I could've gone slower and/or shot at a higher framerate so I could've slowed it. I don't get enough practice with the drones.
Is that the same part of the cavern that people rappel into or is there a deeper part that you can rappel into? So much of what I read says that the only way into the lair is by rappelling.
We had the gear and were going to do it a few years ago. Didn't have time that trip and my arm is still healing (which is why I was such a chicken this trip). But I definitely want to do that someday.
