God bless you,me too i studied the bible deeply from the roots with some SDA brothers then i found the biblical truth and decided to follow it by lefting my former pentecostal church. Simple explanation of the Sabbath The Eternal Significance of the Sabbath 1. The Sabbath at Creation: The Sabbath was established by God at the creation of the world. In Genesis 2:2-3, after completing His work in six days, God rested on the seventh day, blessed it, and made it holy. This day of rest was created for humanity, intended to be a perpetual observance even if sin had not entered the world. It was a time for humans to rest and commune with their Creator. 2. The Sabbath as a Perpetual Sign : After sin entered the world, God gave the Ten Commandments, written by His own finger on tablets of stone, as an eternal law (Exodus 31:17). The Sabbath, the fourth commandment, was reaffirmed as a sign between God and His people, Israel, meant to last forever. God called the Sabbath "His holy day" (Isaiah 58:13), and it was intended not only for Israel but for all who would join themselves to the Lord (Isaiah 56:6-7). 3. The Sabbath and Jesus: When Jesus came, He addressed the way the Pharisees had burdened the Sabbath with legalistic traditions. He emphasized that the Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath (Mark 2:27). Jesus demonstrated the true purpose of the Sabbath by performing acts of mercy and healing on this day (Matthew 12:12). Even in speaking about the future, Jesus indicated that His followers would still be observing the Sabbath during the great tribulation (Matthew 24:20). 4. The Apostles and the Sabbath: The early disciples, including Paul, continued to observe the Sabbath after Jesus' resurrection. In Acts 16:13, Paul is found worshipping on the Sabbath, and in Luke 23:56, it is noted that the women who followed Jesus rested on the Sabbath according to the commandment, even after His death. These instances show that the early Christian church upheld the Sabbath observance.sunday or the first day of the week it was a day like any other there's no law asking Christians to make it holy 5. The Sabbath in the New Covenant: The New Testament does not abolish the Ten Commandments, including the Sabbath. Jesus affirmed the eternal nature of the law (Matthew 5:18), and Paul reinforced this in Romans 3:31, stating that faith does not nullify the law but rather upholds it. In Hebrews 8:10, it is revealed that God's law, including the Sabbath, is written on the hearts of believers under the New Covenant. 6. The Abolition of Ceremonial Laws: While the moral law, including the Sabbath, remains eternal, the ceremonial laws given to Israel, which were written by Moses, were abolished at the cross (Colossians 2:14). These ceremonial ordinances including ceremonial Sabbaths were a shadow of things to come, fulfilled in Christ. 7. The Future Observance of the Sabbath: The Sabbath's significance extends into the future, as Isaiah 66:22-23 prophesies that in the new heavens and the new earth, all flesh will come to worship before God from one Sabbath to another. This reinforces the eternal nature of the Sabbath as a day of worship and rest. Conclusion: The Sabbath, established at creation, is an eternal sign between God and His people. It was observed by Jesus and the early Christians, and it will continue to be observed in the new heavens and new earth. The Sabbath is not just for the Jews but for all humanity, serving as a reminder of God's creative power, His rest, and His desire for a relationship with His creation. Understanding and observing the Sabbath is integral to understanding God's eternal law and His plan for His people.
@@earlysda The ceremonial sabbaths listed in the Leviticus book and the seventh-day Sabbath found in the Ten Commandments are distinct in their purpose, observance, and significance. It is a memorial of creation and a sign of God's covenant with His people (Exodus 31:16-17). Ceremonial Sabbaths: Instituted as part of the ceremonial law in Israel and tied to specific feasts and festivals. These sabbaths were linked to the agricultural and religious calendar of Israel (Leviticus 23). They served as types and shadows pointing to future spiritual truths, especially the coming of Christ and His redemptive work. 2. Regularity Seventh-day Sabbath: Occurs every seventh day (Saturday), based on the weekly cycle. It is a recurring day of rest and worship. Ceremonial Sabbaths: These are annual sabbaths did not follow the weekly cycle. They were observed on specific days of the year during various festivals (e.g., Passover, Feast of Trumpets). It offers regular rest and spiritual renewal, reminding believers of God as their Creator and Sustainer. It points to the ultimate rest in Christ and the future restoration in the new heaven and earth (Hebrews 4:9-10). Ceremonial Sabbaths: Each ceremonial sabbath pointed to specific events in Israel's history (e.g., deliverance from Egypt in the Passover) and prophetic events related to the coming of the Messiah (e.g., atonement, harvest of souls). Their significance was fulfilled in Christ (Colossians 2:16-17), and they are no longer obligatory for Christians after His sacrificial death. 5. Duration and Obligation
Seventh-day Sabbath: Continues as a moral obligation for all believers throughout history, even after Christ's death. It remains a perpetual commandment and is observed as part of God's moral law (Isaiah 66:22-23 shows it will continue in the new earth). Ceremonial Sabbaths: Were temporary and came to an end with Christ's fulfillment of the ceremonial law (Colossians 2:14-17). These sabbaths were shadows of things to come, and once Christ fulfilled the types (like Passover as a symbol of His sacrifice), the ceremonial sabbaths no longer needed to be observed. 7. Rest from Work Seventh-day Sabbath: A day of complete rest from work every week, rooted in God's rest after creation. Ceremonial Sabbaths: Some ceremonial sabbaths also required rest from work, but the rest was tied to the ritual observances and festivals rather than the weekly cycle.
